I'm surprised to read about 2k12's lack of responsiveness in regards to the controls. I have not yet bought 2k12 and I'm not sure if I will, still working on an 82 game season on 2k11. The thing is, my gameplay complaint about 2k11 is the unresponsiveness of the controls and the momentum based player movement.

I don't feel like I have full control over the direction of my player, he'll do janky maneuvers while I'm simply pressing for him to go left. If the player I'm guarding stops and changes directions, my guy will change directions and body angles multiple times instead of just stopping and turning. If I'm dribbling and the ballhandler starts bouncing around in several directions it drives me crazy, just go where I tell you to go. Well that and the bumping. It takes so long to recover from being bumped, and by the time you regain yourself and try to move in a new direction you just get bumped again.

So to hear similar complaints about 2k12, while embracing the "tight" controls of 2k11 really concerns me.

Trust me, you'll hate the controls of player movement in 2k12. In 2k11 players, for me anyway, react almost immediately to your input, in 2k12 they react that half a second slow and it really throws you off your game. 2k11 is just so seamless compared to 2k12, most things just work, most of it feels legit whereas 2k12 is so damn frustrating. The play system in 2k12 is a catastrophe, it takes about 20 seconds for a play to get going leaving you no time to complete the play with any conviction. Honestly I'd say 2k12 is a waste of money. I've played about 2 hours of 2k12 today and 1 hour of 2k11, I wish I just spent the whole time playing 2k11.

Oh well, just download a good roster update or do it yourself and stick to 2k11 this year.

I don't agree completely. 2k12 puts 2k11 in limbo once you play it.

There's just so much more control and options offensively that even though you can go back to 2k11, you still "wish" you had some of the stuff from 2k12.

The general player control, defensively, just isn't as tight. General movement has overdone momentum - feathering the stick is pointless if you play the ball, because it leads to you getting beat defensively too easily.

My one big grip is the inability to trigger a def. contest on every shot. This is automatic in 2k11... and about 50/50 in 2k12. If that and the movement were addressed, I'd be ok with 2k12. Defense is just too important a part of the game to have these problems when the offense is so overpowered.
