Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
After really trying to get used to the little nuances this year's game has, I think I'm going back to 2k11. My biggest gripe is the lack of controller response when performing moves. I don't understand how or why the response time could be worse than last years game.
Not to bash anyone who enjoys it, I just feel like this was 3 steps forward, and 4 steps back this year.
When I play these videogames I expect them to be fun with modest difficulty but it should not be this frustrating to enjoy a videogame!
Alot I things are done right, but most of the issues are fundamental flaws that should be expected to work in any basketball game whether it be a "Sim" or arcade style.
Passing: I'm glad they tuned the lead passing, but how on earth did this game ship with slow floaty passes? You can't say it's user error when the devs tried to patch it. Passing should never need to be patched in a basketball video game period!
I have learned my lesson though thats for sure. I will never buy anymore of these sports games on release day anymore. The fact that its December and the game is still being worked on its laughable. I am aware of the crunched development cycle these guys are under, but spending 65 bucks for a game on release day then waiting 2 months before its patched is crazy.
I get excited for every basketball release ever year, but I now understand why some of the guys on here wait till black Friday to pick up the game.

So let me get this straight, you are mad that the game shipped with passing issues and now that they fixed it via the patch you are now more pissed and will go back to 2k11? What on earth has happened to these forums, SMDH.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
After spending some extensive time with the patch, I honestly cannot believe the placebo affect that was in place on this message board.
Even some of you people who were praising this patch as the second coming are starting to tone down your stances and see this game as still being somewhat flawed. I don't know what it is, but I cannot notice anything different in this patch from the game pre-patch.
You guys got the patch, and wanted it to be so great and make the game a 10/10 that you started seeing things you wanted to see to make it better.
In reality, this game has gone the way of EA Sports Football titles for me, I will no longer be purchasing them. It pains me to say as much, because I absolutely love basketball, and iv'e been a faithful 2K buyer since NBA 2K on the dreamcast.
Enough is enough though. The ridiculous CPU comeback A.I. People saying it was possible to get by defenders with faster players, when in reality, the CPU AI still mirrors your moves step for step. Constantly getting blocked by smaller players inside is still there. Not being able to run fast breaks because no matter who you pass it to the CPU gets a hand on the ball.
The CPU AI constant erratic movement on offense, doing nothing but trying to muscle their way inside the paint, the superhero comeback and contested shots. It's all still there.
Let's not talk about star big men never touching the ball, or when they do get the ball, never using their post moves. Just running around like idiots and passing the ball to some scrub, who WILL light your team up. Do superstars even matter in this game? Or is it back to the days of 2K11 where no matter how old or how much your skills have diminished, if you have a good 3 point shot, you'll score 26 a game and lead your team. Nevermind Dwight Howard for the Magic, you better watch out for Q-Rich, Hedo Turkoglu or some other low rated guy dropping 30 on you while D12 sits back with 8 points and a bunch of rebounds. Pathetic
How anyone could come on here and say those issues have genuinely been fixed is beyond me. Especially when myself and many others have continued to point them out still being there. I'm glad some of the rest of you are finally seeing it too.
This is a good game, and I want it to be great, but there are WAY too many glaring issues that keeps this game from staying in my Xbox for a long period of time.
So long buddy, the game just isn't for you. Time to move on and find something better for your money. No need to rinse and repeat your comments any more now that you have declared the game to be a failure. Plenty of other games out there for you to play.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Whew finally made it through the thread.
One question for the guys who think the patch was all placebo or for the guys who don't see a difference in the gameplay. Did you reset your sliders and play the game on the defaults with default rosters ?
Does anyone who says the Ai doesn't go inside to howard have a capture card ? I have seen snippits of bad gameplay but I would like to see a whole 12 min Qtrs just out of curiosity's sake.
FYI I spoke to 2k about the double teams and fastbreak speed. Have no idea if anything will come of it but after the patch I mentioned both issues to them so we don't have to keep re-posting those two issues over and over and over hoping they see it.
I would also love to see a 3rd or 4th qtr miracle comeback if anyone has a whole quarter posted anywhere.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
With the NBA season about to start, I got kind of amped to play some basketball again. I went out and bought 2K12 earlier today and right now I'm pretty disappointed. The game itself seems very good, I don't have an issue with that. My problem is the online. I tried to play five games with a friend and all of them disconnected in the second or third quarter. The 2K series has been a pain in the *** online for the past several years so I don't know why I expected different this time around. Maybe today was just an abberation, but I doubt it. This is probably going to be offline only for another year.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 12-15-2011, 09:33 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
patch is a mixed bag.
the negatives-
the game is much faster-which isnt a good thing.
Ive seen instances where players are running and seems like they are jumping further out away from the basket to get rebounds and actually grabbing them. doesnt look natural-looks cartoonish.
same could be said for the player movement now. the player legs moving look like cartoon legs. you know the spinning kind from the classic cartoons.
The lob passes are quicker now, but pending on the angle you throw the pass the animation will look awkward.
The passing is responsive but Ive seen instances where my player is maybe a foot away from me and the pass looks like an extra fast bullet pass.
easier to block shots-both good and bad
defensive logic by the AI needs to be tuned more.
the good
-AI logic seems much improved. Ive seen nice drives and by the AI and once I collapse they dish to the cutting big man.. seen much more realistic post play
-people complained about responsiveness. the game is now very responsive.
the end result
-easier to steal,
easier to react to loose balls, it was great to see a deflected pass go into the back court and I was able to track it down with the defender beside me grab it continue to drive to the basket, and pass it off to a trailing player, who completed the break with a and one.
-easier to block shots
-easier to grab offensive rebounds
The passing is responsive but Ive seen instances where my player is maybe a foot awya from me and the pass looks like an extra fast bullet pass.
-more fouls- Ive run into players wthout the ball, and the foul seems to get called more than before the patch.Last edited by tril; 12-15-2011, 10:59 PM.Comment

Thanks Fatleg. My CPU is also temperamental. If I get close to a deadline I can't capture to save my life. It happens EVERY time. LOLCatch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
The patch has improved alot of things it looks like but some of the core issues like - lack of fastbreaks, cpu still catches up to easliy on fastbreaks, lack of double teams, and lack of A.I. spacing on offense, the A.I. teammates will clog up the paint or bring there defender near you when your trying to drive or perform a pick and roll with another player. I would love to see these addressed in another patch, but not sure is going to put effort in releasing another patch.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
This game is still NBA Jam 2K12 online. Laughably bad. Bashing X on D still is an effective tactic. Superman canimation dunks over 3 guys are still in. Hard to stay in front of people on defense due to the skating. I dunno what happened, but now it feels like there wasn't any patch at all outside of the improved passing.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
The patch makes the game much better!!!
The alley's are better but there are a few that are still too low..
The cpu has 4.2 (40) spd once you beat then off the dribble or get past them. Derek Fisher recovery spd is to fast against faster PG's ie CP3.
The game is more fluid and but the game still chooses bad shot animations to make it a contested shot.
Since this patch I see more canned animations with steals and turnover.
On default settings the CPU gets more steals and blks!
3rd qtr runs are better but still happen..
Great PG's loose the ball a lot in clutch times or when the shot clock is below 5secs.
The cpu stills gets 90% of the loose balls and all the players have D-Rose spd to get the loose ball.
Overall playing on allstar is great!!!
I think adjusting a few sliders will make it even better..True bout my business, Mane!Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Agreed. Next year, please, keep that DLC stuff away from us. Also, we don't need all these damn game modes like Create A Legend / Blacktop. Waste of space, don't you think? 2k could be using that to improve gameplay. I don't understand, you know people want gameplay first, as a company, your mentality should be: Make sure the game-play is top notch before adding anything else into the game.I wouldn't care if a game had exhibition mode only, if the gameplay was really good.
They should do that. Strip down all these fancy modes and just concentrate on making the game play more fluid and realistic. Something about the slow/long animations and the feeling of total loss of control is just not right. It's kinda hard to explain, It feels like the game is playing itself, compared to the old school sega days, say, when you had that feeling of 'total control'. Maddens these days is even worse in this regard.
I guess technology just isn't advanced enough yet, for us to have great looking AND playing sports games, with good AI. MLB is the best, imo, because there's so much less going on out there on the field, so it's easier for them to make it. (and not screw up the AI)
They got the pitching and hitting down pretty good, but look, the fielding is BY FAR the worst part of the game. Why ? The long/canned animations, and total loss of player control, which makes you feel like your not even playing the game half the time. - Due to the cpu overriding your player. (even on 'manual' defense)Comment

It's not like double teaming is an important part of basketaball or anything, right?Comment

I think we get the point man. CPU doesn't double team. Don't bash others impressions because you're not have a great one. It's getting annoying.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Also depends on play style. Some who naturally spread the ball around or don't have a strong post game may not have even noticed the lack of double teams.
Play-style can have an effect on game enjoyment in my opinion. Guys you will do one single thing all game and want to be forced into something else might find this to be a gamebreaker. For others it could just be a simple annoyance.
At some level everyone has things they are willing to accept in order to enjoy a game. This is a natural result of the fact that no game is perfect.
Those without that ability are continually in see you next year mode.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment
