Adjust sliders. I get great games now. I sometimes will lose by 10, but I (play offline assoc with the hawks) am second in the southeast with a 16-10 record. I will sometimes win by a small margin, but I've won by 30 on weaker teams. Sliders saved the game for me and now I love it.

Re: Yes, this is awful.
I also run an online league and play a majority of my games online. If I get use to things being a certain way offline, it completely messes me up online when things are normal. I want the game to play the same way both on and off line and I don't think that's too much to ask. This is why I don't adjust game play sliders, you can't make the same adjustments when you play online.Last edited by Sovartus; 01-25-2012, 04:37 PM.These are my opinions based off of my perspective. Re: Yes, this is awful.
I normally get out-rebounded because the cpu is pulling down 10 -15 more offensive rebounds than my team does usually. The cpu normally shoots a higher percentage than me because they are able to score 60%+ of their points in the paint and a user can't.These are my opinions based off of my perspective. Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay
I have tried some of the recommended slider sets, but still getting closer and closer to discarding this game. I actually came from NHL12 because I've heard so many good about NBA2k (maybe in the wrong places, lol) and had hoped that there was no need to permanently spend most of the time adjusting settings, only to find out that once again I did not hit the nail on its hat.
Now I've almost had a great game, but once again I got finally killed in the 4th quarter (38-36 after the third) when CPU made 25 and my team only 15 points. I was down several times and ahead, but everytime I was catching up or in the lead the most stupid things happened. Of course the usual stuff happened as well (CPU scoring inside the paint with C/D rated shots while I was missing A/B shots with proper timing (and the right players) and no CPU close by). Even more annoying, I had 2 fast breaks but in one case the pass went into nowhere (no player even close) and in the 2nd case I passed to the upper right but the ball went to the upper left and straight into the hands of a CPU player. Even worse: 2 times I had the ball still in my own half and suddenly my teammate runs into me (!!??), I lose the ball, fast break, 4 points for the CPU. Also CPU made some nice steals but all 4 times I poked the ball out of their hand it finally returned to the CPU. They had again 93% FT (I had a reasonable 81%), but also 12 offensive rebounds vs. my 4. CPU scored 44 points from inside the paint (I had 30pts) and mostly from post. They pushed themselves and my player closer and closer to the basket, turned, jumped, and despite my 2 guys jumping and holding their hands up at the same time, CPU almost always scored on D rated shots. After another amazing experience I finally lost 73-61 (8min quarters). But as CPU typically made their offensive rebounds against 2-3 of my players that should not be really surprising anymore.
Another point I recognized was that whenever I ran with the ball and crossed the 3pts line, my player suddenly got slower for no reason? What am I missing here? Finally, when CPU got the ball, all my teammates were so slow getting back into their own half, but I can only control one player at a time...
I'm still trying to learn all kind of moves (the list in the manual is a long one), but so far the whole game just feels so over-artificial. Especially when I manage to defend until the clock is down to 3s and the CPU comes up with their magic looks just so pre-determined to me and that hurts the motivation to learn more complicated stuff. I must be doing something horribly wrong or haven't learned yet to score some cheesy points that give me a cushion. LOL, shame on me.Comment

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay
I'm all for sliders and stuff but all these slider suggestions pretty useless if Online Association has none!! Online Association plays like pre patch where the cpu hits everything....
It's obvious some of you guys have yet to try OA (Online Association) because I guarantee you nobody will be suggesting to use slider sets.
Just to be clear before joining my coworkers OA I played mostly quick/nba today games with all star/sim settings and the game plays great! I don't feel cheated at all when the cpu hits a last second shot. Now when I played my first OA game against the CPU....oh boy they forgot to patch the gameplay as the CPU will continually make contested shots.Comment

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay
After testing some more sliders my preliminary conclusion for the pre-patched PC version is... this gameplay is garbage! If you need all these plays to even have a fair chance vs. CPU even on medium difficulty, then this is not my game because I don't want to spend the time to learn the most sophisticated stuff. If I need that for higher difficulties that's ok. The basic problems always stay the same. I'm constantly missing A/B rated throws from all kind of positions. CPU simply pushed my defending player under the basket and scores on C/D shots. If I try the same they block most of my lay ups, but on the other end I only get fouls called against me in the same situation. And CPU still kills me in terms of offensive rebounds, even if I have 2 or 3 players vs. 1.
If I manage (by running, passing, post play) to get easy and open throws, I should get these damn points. The funny thing is, it does not matter if I play on pro or allstar, and it does not matter if I try hard to defend or just play without effort and motivation. The final result is almost the same. Without patch this game feels like an interactive movie where it does not matter much what I do.
In my last game I also witnessed several fumbles of my team and whenever I got a hand on the ball, the ball bounced back to the CPU. They however had several steals I can only dream of. LOL Also funny, I got a reach in fould called against me and ingame and in the replay you clearly hear the whistle before my player even starts to move his arm. ROFL
Two days ago I played 2k11 on PS3. It was only 1 game and so there is no statistics, but the overall experience was simply more convincing. It just looked more balanced. Too bad that the left stick control seems to be quite soft and I found it hard to control my D man precisely. Maybe it's better to play 2k11 at least until the patch comes out for PC. Maybe I find it for a few bucks and buy it for PC. In any case I regret the money & time I spent on 2k12. To me this is even worse than NHL12 with all its flaws...Comment

There's a thread somewhere called the zero slider theory or something. Basically turn every slider that is also a player attribute down to zero (except shooting and rebounding). I've done it and the game is remarkable. I know longer have to score 120 to beat the CPU. You can get lots of nice 95 - 92 games and what not.Comment

There are. But I don't have Internet. So I have been looking around online for all kinds of tweaks.Comment

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay
Yeah, I feel all your guys pain. I use sim world rosters and yellz sliders. Honestly, with those settings that's how the game should be out of the box, and then patched from there. Now the pain and frustration, I play on Pro and turned clutch off. 9 out 10 times it's the CPU doing whatever they want. I don't mind losing but I will not accept cheating to get a win. They can do things I can't, they dribble at different speeds, they're defense is incredible but mines on the other hand is horrible? They cut on dimes and make so many shots, they string them together so easily. I love challenge until it becomes obvious that's it's not challenge its straight denial. 2k11 wasn't this hardcore, I always need my 2k fix but it's so frustrating this year.Comment

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay
yeah the cpu cheats and they always seem to make there second chance points off of rudy fernandez taking a offensive rebound with the whole opposite team in the paint. I slammed my controller on my furniture but not floor when ever it happen. I dont use sliders that much because i wanna beat the cpu at its best when it cheats. Bottom line: you could argue that by tweaking sliders you simply finish the work 2K should have done for you already.Comment
