CPU also blocked like crazy almost everything I tried under the basket, while I was only getting fouls called against me. As before, offensive rebounds played into CPU's hand and my awful 57% FT (the worst I've had so far) looked quite poor compared to CPU's 91%. I think up to now, CPU always had >90% FT in all my games!?

I think these sliders are worth a closer look, but I will probably not touch this game anymore until the patch is out. I don't know whether I should expect anything from this patch, but if nothing changes significantly I will stop wasting my time with this game. Anyway, thanks for all the good suggestions here.

I mean, ideally, 2K (and other companies) should release a well developed game that offers a reasonable amount of difficulty (and maybe game speed) levels. Instead (either due to too small staff, too tight release schedule, or maybe some degree of incompetence) you get a widely adjustable game that leaves it up to the customer to make it properly playable. As a result, many people spend hours/days/weeks/months tweaking a "beta version" until the next patch is released that may screw up all the tweaking done. Obviously that has become widely accepted these days and maybe many people even prefer the way they can change the way the game plays (in an "unfinished state" that's required of course).

Bottom line: you could argue that by tweaking sliders you simply finish the work 2K should have done for you already.
I think EA was headed in the right direction with Madden a few years ago with the CPU adjusting your skill levels in different areas based on how you play. I think all sports games should have this feature especially with the advanced controller and command schemes of today.
These are my opinions based off of my perspective. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but if you disagree, we can still agree to disagree agreeably and not fight about it.

Don't know about Madden, but with NHL12 EA failed in a lot of (too many) areas and that's why I switched to 2k12. However, at the moment, 2k12 is no option for me. In my last game it happened that I was in the lead and then CPU scored 2 times C- in the last second and another F 3pts with 2 of my players arms up, while I on the other end again missed one A+ and one A- throw from mid range (no opponent nearby). When I then had a free man just entering the paint but my pass from the wing headed towards the middel line into the audiance, I decided to stop my excursion into 2K sports games.

EDIT: I don't know if that is the case, but to me it looks like there are situations with strong momentum and if I hate somthing in sports games, then it's (overpowered) momentum.
