Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
The association has made big improvements over the years in Nba 2k13 they should bring back the end of the week highlights like in NFL 2K5 talk about the injuries , teams that are hot etc..... They do it with the website ala Nba.com.... It just gets repetitive, this is a presentation aspect of the game that would go along way.
Trade logic needs to be improved everyone knows this...
How about the Live practice option actually does something for chemistry, etc...
This idea is just to give the association more substants than what it already has.. I have waited along time for end of the week highlights or do a Espn Ton ten plays of the week..... Come on 2k I have been with you guys since dream cast Nba 2k........No matter who you are the right system can turn a role player into a superstar Joe Budden

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
I've posted this idea almost every year since 2009:
As of now, in an Association, the rich get richer. You get reward points for doing things such as winning a title, winning 10 games in a row, or make the playoffs.
There are some reward points for the not so good teams such as play a rookie for X minutes, improve team record, etc. However, They pale in comparison for reward points compared to winning a title, making playoffs, etc
My idea is to create a "Team Role". There could be the Title Contender, Playoff Pusher, or Rebuilding. There would be different reward points in each group. Obviously a title contender is not going to try and play a rookie 30 minutes a game unless he is an absolute stud. Likewise, a rebuilding team is not going to make the playoffs, win a championship, or coach the MVP. Therefore you have specific goals to reach in order to get reward points for the offseason.
Going along with this if you fail to meet your team goal, your chemistry goes down, and coaches/players will want to leave your team eventually if you keep underachieving. Likewise, if you have a talented team yet you only want to push for the playoffs and not contend, players will not take your program seriously as wanting to win and will sign elsewhere/jet during free agency (at least those that have their ambition for "Play for a Winner")
It would differentiate teams, help in free agency, and also have teams correctly value draft picks and what not. It can't be that hard to implement either.Comment

*Disclaimer: If anything in this post has been mentioned before, I'm sorry for not reading/acknowledging it.*
Amnesty Clause:
Just like in real life, you can get rid of one bad contract with no cap penalties. Maybe allow only one per 3-5 seasons to prevent overuse.
Player Intangibles:
Give players an in-game role like the player roles that are already in place, a locker room role such as "Leader", "Disruptor", "Quiet", etc., and a play style that dictates their preferred system to play in. To put it all together, Derek Fisher on the Thunder would be a Role Player (In-Game Role), a Leader (Locker Room Role), and be a slow, pass first guy (System Preference). All of this would factor into a particular player's happiness, which affects team chemistry.
Team Moves:
Like Madden's franchise mode, every offseason you get the opportunity to move a team, rename it, change jerseys, design the arena, etc.
Playoff Atmosphere:
For home playoff games, choose from a couple of t-shirt designs and colors (black, white, TC1, TC2) that the fans will wear.Celtics-17 Banners
Red Sox-World Champs 7 times over
Patriots-3 Super Bowls
Bruins-6 Stanley Cups
33 championship parades

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
How can player progression not be included in this? If you look at player's ratings after a few years it looks crazy. It seems like everything just gets way out of hand.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
I really want to be able to control my locker room. I want to be able to tell people that they will start in a year or 2 when Nash retires. I want to be able to do press conferences saying that "Player 1" has to step up, Put players on the trading block and mark them as untouchable, mark them as franchise players, give them specific roles, like bench scorer, team mentor, be able to build players up in our d-league teams. Also, how about a few 2nd round picks being surprise successes. Teammates arguing or locker room troubles, messages from players to coaches and GMs. Being able to pick a certain offense like PnR or Run and Gun, defenses like man or zone to start the game. Talking to players mid-game on how to improve.Comment

No sports game seems to get progression right. It always seems to be a fairly cheap formula based on the potential rating. 2k's does take playing time into consideration but that seems like the only other variable. I think in NBA Street Homecourt your player progressed based on what he did on the court. If he took lots of 3 pointers, he was more likely to progress in the 3 point category. If I take Gallo and shoot 20 3s with him on the season, he should not improve his 3 point rating.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
Alright I posted some of this on the NBA 2k13 Wishlist (PG 65) but I'll add some of it here:
-3-4 team way trades.
Just because I can't get a certain player by myself it shouldn't render the trade useless which is why so many big player acquisitions in real life usually result from a trade partner to assist.
-Bidding wars
-Give me the option to control the outlook on a team.
Let me be James Dolan & handle the ticket prices, promotions for games, marketing for games, setting up players for interviews, dealing with in house problems/chemistry problems, etc, etc, etc. I'm amazed at how they call it a franchise mode yet handcuff us to just hiring & firing coaches.
-Add in more text on the NBA pages
-Add in blog articles where they talk about players, coaches, your team, teams around the league, rookies, etc.
-Add in real player personalities.
-Give us an in-depth scouting system.
I'm talking summer leagues, pre-draft, still in college type of things.
-For the love of good fix the trade logic.
2k has to remember that not everybody deserves a 5 star/4 star trade rating. They also have to remember there is something called REALISTIC trades.........
-Bring back the trading block.
Would love to see how my players trade value is going up or going down.
-Let's have assistant coaches be interim coaches after a firing.
-Give us the ability to meet players & other teams to discuss their players in the free agency.
This happens all the time in sports.
-Bring in real contract negotiations.
There are players that want to play for the minimum on championship contending teams, same thing with players who want to get paid their money.
-Fix The All Star Weekend.
This is something that always brightens up the league every February yet so far in the 2k series it's been mundane & it's become pretty damn obvious in the franchise mode. You tell me that I select a franchise team, have a couple of players who put up big numbers, I'm ecstatic as a gamer because of the hard work I put for them to get selected then I see some bullsh*t accomplishment reward point that they got selected, I start up that game, the intro's are the same sh*t as a regular exhibition game, then the ASG is over?
I understand that there's a memory limit with the games every year but they have to do better. I want to see highlights from the regular season, I want to see crowd interaction, I want to see the players clowning around, I want to see them clowning shooting practice shots before the game starts. While some might see this as a lot is it really? Let's see some hype & presentation for the 3 point contest, the ASG, the skills competition & the dunk contest.
Speaking of the dunk contest I'm dumbfounded how it's not in the franchise mode.
-Chill out on the Rookie expectations.
We need to see more busts, we need to see more high risks for top draft picks. I shouldn't be seeing damn near every rookie in the 80-85 range in just 3 years. I also shouldn't be seeing so many in the All Star Game.
-Improve on Free Agency.
When I'm trying to sign a free agent player I should be seeing what other teams are offering him contracts, I should also be able to give him guarantees.
-Presentation
There should be a big presentation for winning the MVP, DPOY, Rookie of the Year. In the Playoffs the crowd needs to be into especially for the Knicks, Thunder, etc. Winning the NBA championship needs to be on a HUGE scale. We have been asking for this for years.
-Interviews
Pretty simple. Add in interviews & post game conferences for the coaches seeing as this is the association/franchise mode.
Random:
-I want to see players given incentives
IE: Player X gets 12,000 dollars for making it to the all star game, Player X gets 100,000 dollars for winning the MVP.Last edited by JBreezeNY; 05-22-2012, 10:24 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
Add more personality's/type that will reduce the amount of money free agents are asking for. Add "Controversial", "Injury-prone", "Not-loyal", "Rain Man", "Insecure", "ring seeker", etc.
Examples:
Controversial - Metta World Peace should be untrade-able in association, he still is sign-able but probably for $2 million, 1 year deals or under.
Injury Prone - Greg Oden shouldn't be paid $5.76 million for 1 year. He should be paid around $2-3 million for 1 year.
Not-loyal - Dwight Howard if you don't win a championship or have a strong supporting cast he will request a trade.
Rain Man - All this player cares about is money.
Insecure - This player is willing to take less money for more years.
Ring seeker - Most likely a veteran player willing to take a pay cut to go to a contending team (ex: Steve Nash, Grant Hill, Derek Fisher, etc)

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
Man where to begin. The mode has really gotten pushed to the side the past few years.I understand with myplayer and the way online gameplay has took off that it probably isnt gonna be top priority but it really has let me down the past two years.
I for one would love to have more things to do outside of gameplay. Why not put in a monthly recap show(CH2k8 guys know what im talkin about)that breakdown stats and standings. Then maybe towards the end of the year have a postseason show.Ch2k did this but did it weekly and had over 100+ teams.Just once a month would be nice.
Def like the OP's idea of makin it where you have to be more involved with yours players.Everything form free agency to mid year extensions seem so bland.Certain FA's should only be interested in certain teams. As of now i can make the Bobcats a contender by year three through FA's and trades. If your record is poor a superstar player should have to be made promises to even give your team a look.Break promise and have to face the wraith of a p****d off superstar that could want out of town eventually.
And one simple request if nothin else is changed.Make it where you have the option to veto Cpu/Cpu trades instead of haven to turn trades off or put someones contract to no trade status.Just have a pop up box like normal that gives you the option to let it through or deny.
I really hope they do put some time into association this year.Id be crushed if the game came out with this mode barely touched again.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Association Mode Improvements
There should me more media involved.
As your checking your stats or doing other things, a radio commentary can be played in the background talking about the teams.
The Association's NBA.com headlines can have moving images and clicking on any of them would give a more in depth explanation.
How about bringing back the text messages.
Top plays of the week and day should be included.
Also, make sure when you win an award it is shown given to you pre-game.(home)Comment
