Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
The All-Star add-on content is ONLY available if you pre-order the game (which you can do here: http://2kgam.es/NBA2KStore)
From the Kotaku article:
And if you don't preorder the game, your play-now and career modes will still have an All-Star game, it'll just use the previous year's venue and uniforms (in this case, Orlando's) until the All-Star game is actually played and 2K gets permission to patch in the new skins. -
Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
For the sake of clarity, there will be no way to access the legitimate All-Star Weekend, Dunk Contest, and Three Point Contest if a customer does not pre-order? So, my little brothers who usually receive the game for Christmas, will have no way of accessing these new modes? The All-Star add-on content is ONLY available if you pre-order the game (which you can do here: http://2kgam.es/NBA2KStore)
Also, while the '91 Warriors and '02 Kings were initially declared to be a pre-order bonus, they ended up being available to most folks who purchased 2K on release day or shortly thereafter. Will it be the same case with All-Star Weekend this year? Since I'm unsure where I'll want to make my 2K purchase (and thus potentially not pre-ordering) would I be able to walk into a GameStop or Best Buy on release day and still receive access to the ASW?Comment

Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
It's funny, I pre-order every game that I buy, but I don't activate 90% of the stuff that you get for pre-ordering. The only stuff that I activate are RPG characters and quests. The folks at Gamestop are always circling my receipt with a highlighter, and telling 3 or 4 things about the codes, but I'm totally not paying attention to what they're saying.
I'll Pre-order NBA 2K13 in a couple of weeks, but I doubt that I'll activate the All-Star Weekend code.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

You have to pre order to get ASW. Walking in on release day and buying the game is not pre ordering it.For the sake of clarity, there will be no way to access the legitimate All-Star Weekend, Dunk Contest, and Three Point Contest if a customer does not pre-order? If you are lucky you might get it but the official word is that you have to pre order it.What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
Oh no, I'm not giving them the game, ha. I was referring to them asking for it for Christmas and receiving it from their parents. It's not really a situation where they can just ask for a $63 game at any point of the year and receive it. Most times, if they don't have the money for something they want and it's a relatively big purchase, they're probably going to have to wait for a special occasion such as a birthday or Christmas. The family household is just not one that is willing to spend money on things whenever kids demand.
I'm usually not that big of a stickler when it comes to the wording and phrasing choices of others but I have to say, in this case, the lack of a straight denial that the ASW will ever be offered beyond pre-order sort of leads me to believe it being a future DLC is a possibility. For some reason, answering, "The ASW will only be available via pre-order" when asked whether it will ever be downloadable for pay, instead of saying flat out, "No, the ASW will never be available for download, only via pre-order" makes me believe something could be skirted about.
Either way, if pre-ordering truly is the only way to acquire the All-Star Weekend, it feels like a terrible strategy in terms of providing a full gaming experience. There has to be oodles and oodles of consumers who either don't know they need to pre-order in order to acquire an awesome portion of the game or can't pre-order, and to think they'll all miss out on something like that is a little unfortunate.Last edited by VDusen04; 09-09-2012, 05:53 PM.Comment
