But with the ratings, tendencies and slider adjusted(Get a roster and slider from 2k share basically). This game is very realistic. This game is sooo much deeper than 2k11, I mean isomotion, the post game, on-ball defense, the play-calling system, shot blocking and rebounding. Both games have their own issues. But they still have similar issues like psychic defense, passing, sliding and teammates A.i. If you want a easier game I would stick with 2k11, easier as in scoring, defending and just an easier cpu. 2k12 is a hard game, it's harder to drive, score and defend. But once you learn how to truly play this game it's very entertaining. But you will have to spend a lot of time in practice mode before jumping into high difficulty games(superstar and hall of fame) agansit the cpu.

Now why the community doesn't like 2k12 idk. 2k12 has it's issues but so did 2k11, I didn't like 2k12 after the second month and thought I knew how to play. Once I downloaded the sim world roster and sliders. The game played great. But when I learned how to drive and defend the game became less frustrating and I enjoyed myself.

My thinking is because 2k doesn't really hold your hand in 2k12 and expects you to figure certain things out, I think that may be a reason. But one thing I learned about this forum everyone here isn't a sim-head or that good at the game. So I wouldn't take some of these posts too seriously.

if you play 2k12 on 2k terms you will see why the community doesn't like it. play some games of create a legend or my player on hall of fame sim and you will see

I don't play my player or create a legend. Unless your playing as a pg that's the only way to enjoy those modes. I think the player focus modes can't really compare to the team controlled gameplay, because they are different. But when I did play my player I thought it was terrible.

2k11 was 1,000 times better out of the box IMO, but if you can get your hands on some good sliders and rosters, 2K12 can be as fun..... almost haha.

2k11. Did not have brick wall defenders like 2k12 even the bench players play defense like bruce bowen. I know you still could get in the lane but it was very complex and ugly doing so this is the Nba not college baskeball where u have to call plays 98 percent of the time. 2k11 made it balance yes it has its issue but the game played felt more realistic and better then 2k12 you guys got to ask yourself a question would you still prefer 2k12 without the post moves? 12 is all flash its kinda like a gangster rap going pop to get more money to please the masses so I hope 2k goes back to its roots because let there be no mistake about it the other game may be a joke but best believe they watching 2k every move maybe not this year but in the future

Oh ya dont go EA on us 2k thats kind of what your saying. I really like 2k11 its just that I had to have the CPU on ball Defense so high to stop the easy drives on all star that it made other aspects unrealistic if ya know what I mean. The game was so close to being perfect and I played it literally for 2 years so thats more than you can ask for. I think at this point after reading comments in this thread I will just hold on for the 2K13. Shoot we got NCAA 13 and Madden which are good for about 2-3 weeks each of entertainment up until then haha.

I will never go back to live I repeat I would never go back to live lol I was just saying don't be the rabbit in the turtle race. Be more of a speed demon but at the end of the day completion is great because 2k wasn't even talking about fixing the passing till live did but that's another discussion. 2k11: is the girl you want to marry she not perfect but she does everything she suppose to do as a wife gets the job done. 2k12: is more like a one night stand you regret with her slutty fancy clothes on and you wake up in the mourning thinking she change but you kept throwing the controller at the tv

NBA Live has nothing to do with this thread. Let's keep it that way.

2k11 no doubt. 2k12 was the biggest letdown last year.

I just completely disagree with all of this, 2k11 cpu defense was terrible, all they did was a big hop lol and warped into you when you barely moved. All you had to do is nudge the LS and cross to get past the cpu.

I hated that I could get a open shot just doing a cheap move like that anytime I want. 2k12 you actually have to read and react to the defender, that is realistic basketball. I don't have a problem getting to the rim. The whole rap and pop analogy I just didn't get, because it doesn't relate to 2k11 and 2k12.

I also didn't understand the bold statement. Idk which game your referring to but complexity, you don't want a complex game? Is that what your saying?Sometimes I feel as if I'm playing a different game than you guys because the way you guys exaggerate things makes it seem as if this game is Ghosts n Goblins hard.

And the post game wasn't even the best gameplay feature to me this year, escape dribble pull ups, isomotion and on-ball defense are deeper than the post game. So yeah I would still play 2k12 without the post up upgrades from 2k11.

With months, months, and more months of messing with EVERY possible slider configuration, I finally found what is the MOST simulation like basketball video gaming experience I've ever had with 2K11...

I absolutely LOVE NBA 2K11, and with 20+ years of full historical rosters, I will have endless gameplay that will make this the last NBA game I ever purchase.

I played 4 games last night, none of which were anything close to each other in terms of gameplay and outcome. Just an incredible basketball game that provides a fun challenge.

Perfect? No... but the issues are small / minor. I have played countless games and will probably wear that game out one day. I'm not a fan of today's NBA, so current rosters mean nothing to me. I've been tempted to purchase 2K12, but have resisted, and am firm in that I won't.

                        Re: NBA 2K11 was better?

I love 2K11 but man, the playbooks are just so limiting after you spend time with 2K12. I do like in 2K11 that pick-and-rolls/pops are more responsive and that there are double-teams.

The added defensive adjustments are a huge plus for 2K12, too. I like being able to decide how to play screens for individual players.

The players attack the basket with more fluidity in 2K12 than 2K11. The layup animations are a lot better than 2K11, where you really had to be fully in the paint to drive to the goal. In 2K12, you can start those moves from outside the paint.

Post game is great in both games, but 2K12 added a little bit more to the table.

I can still play 2K11 and have a great experience, but I think overall 2K12 is the better game of the two. It's very close, though.

Thats what I LOVE about 2k! It feels good to break the defender down or put him on his heels and then pull up in his grill. I used to hate the isomotion until I saw the Blake Mamba video posted on here -- that made me get in the virtual gym and put in work.

On topic: I enjoy 2k12. 2k11 was good but 2k12 is just as addicting for me.

I'm kind of starting to like 2k12 better than 2k11. Of course I still have to play with my or someone else custom roster but I often play on either Superstar or Hall Of Fame and get good results and the game no longer makes he want to throw my controller at the TV haha except when the CPU has those momentum periods.

I'd agree. I remember some people complaining at length in 2K11 about the limited post game, the playbooks, etc. and now are somehow considered virtues. Even something as small as being able to walk the ball up the court and the incessant complaints about how it messed up the pacing of the game... now all those complaints are non-existent. There were many things I think 2K attempted to address in 2K12 that get lost. It's funny how some people have this need to pit the games against each other (2K11 vs. 2K12) and declare one a success and the other a failure - when they were developed by the same team. This isn't a situation like Call of Duty Modern Warfare vs. CoD Black Ops, or Madden vs. NCAA where the games at their core are essentially the same but developed by different teams. But somehow the 2K devs were brilliant one year, and completely forgot everything they knew the next.

I do think an area 2K whiffed on was how the difficulty scaled. This year there was a much greater learning curve and it didn't help that the cpu noticeably overcompensates/cheats more than in previous iterations on the higher difficulties. There are some people that refuse to play on anything other than the most difficult settings and will blame the game rather than adjust.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
