lol I feel you. I feel slightly demoralized, I just lost a close one to the Warriors when I had a lead for the entire game. Until the end, and their defense just went bonkers and stopped me from scoring for the final 2 minutes.

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Well so much for having found a way to win, I just lost my 3rd straight, yet another loss to another crappy team. I'm watching CPU guards go in and attack the rim against Dwight Howard. He's not even a presence down there, even when I'm defending everything correctly, they just phase through my defender and get to the rim with ease. They will never miss anything if they are even remotely open, and a lot when they aren't open, constantly draining buckets with ease as the shot clock winds down and the defense is closing in on the shooter. Meanwhile, I can't hit wide open, A+ quality, perfect release shots from hot zones.
Back to frustration. It was fun while it lasted, getting a couple wins against ****ty teams, and thinking that I'd have a shot. Oh well, at least I can sim some games to get a win.Last edited by Franchise408; 07-12-2012, 11:07 PM.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Lol. I just lost to the Blazers by 5 but did manage to trim a 16 point lead back in the 4th. My new philosophy is keeping it simple, no triggers just using the left stick to stay in front and using the right stick to stick a hand in a shooters face. This strategy allowed me to restrict the CPU to 36% in the 2nd half, easily my best defensive effort. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic....
I've also sworn off sliders except in regards to fouls. It's default all the way.
What foul sliders are you using? Even with the shooting slider at 70 I was still seeing a lot of frustrating no calls when Rose was driving to the hoop.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
I just use whatever default sliders. I haven't changed anything. Whatever the foul sliders are for All-Star / Simulation.
Well I'm back up to 2 straight, one was a back and forth against Chicago that I won with a Jameer Nelson buzzer beater, the 2nd one was against the Kings where I was down by as much as 16, but was able to trim it down and win in the 4th quarter.
I've won 2 straight manually, and my Magic are up to 8 straight altogether via some sim games as well. I've gone from out of the playoff picture to 4th in the Eastern Conference.
I may have found something of a cheap tactic to use against the CPU... but considering how much I'm struggling, I am not against exploiting cheap tactics lol.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
What is the tactic?
Also I'm finally playing great against the Suns, defending really well and am leading by 20 at the half. Then the freaking game crashes back to the desktop as it segues into the 3rd quarter!!!! My first crash in 160 hours of game time. This is just NOT my year!!!!!!!!Last edited by Guffers; 07-13-2012, 06:43 AM.Comment

Well since I play exclusively offline, and I don't really play any online games, I'm not too concerned. I just want to be able to beat the CPU and enjoy my Association Mode.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Well the CPU does something similar, running back and forward and taking advantage of the user's momentum to get open.
I went back and replayed my last game after it crashed, it worked out fine and I beat the Suns by 8! I was up by 15 until the final two minutes when Beasley went nuts hitting everything (2K Clutch Factor) I'm just happy that I kept the CPU under 50% shooting and felt like I could actually compete.
What 2K has done really well is implement the simulation of a kind of team flow. When your playing good defence and running a good offence then the little things start to happen eg. More offensive boards and tip backs and you stop getting stripped 8 times a quarter by the CPU.
I think that has largely been my problem all along, I was failing to find the flow and things quickly swing to favor the CPU. That's when you see them shoot 10/11 and go bananas from 3. Now I'm starting to understand how to stop that a little better.
Now if the damned game wouldn't crash I would be much obliged.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
I wonder if that's why letting the CPU call plays for me allowed me to start playing better than when I was calling them myself.
Because when I was calling plays myself, I'd call for screens for Jameer Nelson, or I'd call plays that would attempt to set up my shooters like Redick, Jason Richardson, and Turkoglu beyond the arc. And if those plays stalled out, then I'd end up jacking up contested stepback jumpers, and eventually it would all snowball.
But with the CPU calling plays, it slows me down, lets me actually set up an offense, and it calls a variety of different plays, setting up Dwight Howard in the post, setting up my different shooters for wide open looks, etc...
In general, things are a lot more orderly and composed, instead of me just running around like a chicken with my head cut off.
Although the CPU seems to have caught up to my new offensive schemes, so I've had to develop the running around back and forth with Jameer Nelson until the defender gets caught up somewhere in traffic giving me a wide open mid range jump shot offense, lol. And I guess when the CPU catches back up to that, I'll go back to raping the defense with Dwight Howard in the post, and when they catch up to that, I'll go back up to jacking up triples with Redick, Turkoglu, and Richardson.
You are right about the flow of the game though, and that might be what people mean by momentum. It seems like once I get rolling, things continue rolling for me, the CPU begins making more mistakes, and things begin opening up a lot more for me, where on the flip side, once I start to make mistakes, the mistakes continue to pile up until I regather myself and get things back on track. I've been a lot more aware of which players are the ones causing the problems for me - and it seems to be Hedo Turkoglu a good chunk of the time - calling a timeout and pulling the player(s) and getting some new blood in there and trying some new things.Comment

Honestly man you just have to sit down and play over and over and over again against the computer on all-star mode untill you naturally get better and once you can beat the computer regularly then raise it to super-star.. And eventually hall of fame. Learn by experience.. Its annoying at first I remember getting beat by the cpu on all-star by 30 every game, but now I can beat the cpu on hall of fame by 20 pretty regularly. And I think I have lost maybe 5 games online.. Just continue learning.

Woooooowwww...
I've been waiting to play 2K12 all day, and I finally get off work and get home, and it's worse than ever.
I just got out shot by the Bobcats of all teams, 70% to 40%.
The Bobcats hit 70% of their shots.
I couldn't hit anything. Wide open or not, I couldn't hit a thing.
No matter what kind of D I put on them, they were making their shots with ease. Didn't matter that it was DJ Augustine going straight up on Dwight Howard or Greg Oden, they were draining the shot. And often times, they were getting a foul to go to the line for an extra one.
And on the rare occasion that they did miss a shot, their guys were right there to out rebound Dwight Howard and Greg Oden to get a 2nd shot at it.

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
And of course, right on cue, the opposite of the last game happens... I smash the Bucks, and get the achievement for holding them under 40% shooting. Final score was only 14 points, but again that's because I was running backups for a large chunk of the 4th and doing dumb things to practice with.
I should bitch more often. It seems like everytime I complain, my team gets its **** together lol.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Lol I'm 3-7 in my Bulls association and sometimes you just want to throw your hands up in the air and walk away dramatically. I just lost at the Clippers 96-97. It was a close game with no more than a 5 point lead each way and I was holding a slim margin towards the finish. Then Chauncey freaking Billups hits two heavily contested 3's to snatch the lead. I then grab it back with an open 3 by Rose with 13 seconds to go. Then on defense I stupidly try to strip Chris Paul and he goes around me to shoot the wide open free throw line jumper to win the game. I get the ball back with 4 seconds left but its just massive congestion and all I can do is get Rose to throw up some garbage which of course misses. Boom, another loss.
At least I can acknowledge that it was user error this time around.Comment
