And there are antidotes to Closer, could have sworn that was brought up by the 2K team up guys already.

Whether it be Lock Down Defender or a skill yet to be revealed, let's wait and see before we trash it and make up scenarios.

Yeah I agree. We don't need that at all.

And honestly, why do we need stuff like "Lockdown defender," "Shot creator" and "Finisher"? WTF are the ratings for? Those things dictated lockdown defense, ability to hit jumpers, and the ability to finish at the rim just fine.

Signature skills sounds like some arcade stuff tbqh.

NBA players heights aren't ever 100% accurate, it's not that big of a deal..just like Nate Robinson being listed at 5-9 when really without shoes, he's more about 5-7 if he's lucky

That's what I was thinking. Rating cover all of theses things already so I don't get the point either.

Free throws rating does it already. Bad free throws shooter will miss free throws in the clutch, while Ray Allen will switch 90% of them. Clutch factor is a bad thing in a sport video game. It adds randomness and pure luck wich leads to frustration mostly.

My theory: Could just be labels or some sort of perk for the player ... like a Captain in the Navy having insignia, awards, and badges when all he needs is his rank plaque to distinguish him as a Captain. The Signature Traits just are an appendage to the player's attributes.

From watching the video, it seems like the Signature Skills actually give the players abilities that go beyond ratings. It's not like previous years where having a certain rating gave you the logo by the player's name to remind you that he had high ratings in that area.

It seems very pointless to me.

                      If that is so ...

You need something to seperate the Superstars from the All Stars and the All Stars from the Stars and the Stars from the Professional Basketball Players ....

It's like we 'd give a 27.8 points per game attribute to Kobe so he will always average that for a season.

I didn't think much of the skill traits until now, but I realise that seems very arcadey especially after the video of Ronnie explaining a few of them.

Chris Paul doesn't magically make his teammates better, he makes them better because he knows the PG role better than others, his passes are more accurates, because he's quicker, he attracts help defense on him etc etc.

Let's be real. Ratings have meant absolutely nothing in 2K games for a few years.

You will meet people online that can close out a game with Luke Walton or turn into Hakeem in the 95 Finals with Omer Asik. No cheese. No spin moves all the time. Straight tactics. How do you explain that when it happens?

Obviously this is their way of separating the averages from the all stars, and the all stars from the superstars. Deadeye doesn't necessarily mean I can take Ray Allen and shoot in anyone's defense all game long and it's guaranteed to drop because of some magic.

It's for people that go "GORAN DRAGIC CAN'T DO THAT IN REAL LIFE! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"...and then look at the signature skill and at least provide context. It's not just a new way for superstars to thrive and for players to expose that.

Terrible defense. I'm challenging anyone, right now, cheeser or not, to try to do anything like that to me. I guarantee it won't work.

It's funny that you used Dragic as your example, since Dragic lit up one of the best defensive teams in the league during the post-season, while playing for the Suns in 2010.

                                See what you just did?

You took defense into your own hands and knew that there's no way those two scenarios are happening to you as long as you're the one defending. That's my exact point. That's what everyone should do instead of just giving into this weird theory that no matter what they do, exploits and advantages will succeed over their own will.

I wish there were more people on this board with your mindset that aren't too lazy to just man up and play smart defense.

Even if these signature skills create a higher probability for some players over others to separate the amazing players from the role players, there's always a way to stop someone or something.
