This is completely besides the point, off-topic, and becoming a debate over roster differences rather than roster standards, but if you're interested in seeing gameplay then here's a YouTube channel with video: https://www.youtube.com/user/youALREADYknow247/videos

I'd upload any CPU/CPU video of two teams you chose if you wanted to compare the kinds of issues that can be corrected in the default 2K rosters. Like I said before, send me a PM if you want some detail because that is off-topic as far as this thread is concerned.

Your disregard for factual evidence in previous posts is a pretty good sign that you're not interested in the standards and methods used to create rosters and are more interested in your personal subjective view of what happens on your own console. Most gamers are just like that, lack interest in the details, and very few take the time to understand them. Yet we still see the same threads pop up in the forums week after week of people confused as to why the game isn't "playing right" or why there is "cheese" of some sort.

The thread should go back to discussing the methods we should expect from roster edits and configuration in a simulation basketball game. One of the things that most people have made clear is that they expect aspects such as attributes and tendencies to be data-driven. That would be a great start for 2K13 and beyond.

Trust me on this, if we received a polished and well-configured game out-of-the-box from 2K13 then people like vtcrb, slimm44, and myself would be the MOST satisfied gamers on the forums. I'd gladly trade in the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of testing, editing, and attempting to reverse-engineer NBA 2K to have been able to enjoy a working Association mode on the release date or even after a patch or two. That shouldn't be asking too much when paying $60-70 and it should be expected from a studio that spends millions to develop, market, and distribute this game.

Big thanks again to you guys. I would probably not be playing 2K12 offline anymore at this point without your work.

I've had my sanity preserved by the work the roster/playbook guys have done as well. I used to be able to handle all of the corrections myself but I simple dont have the time anymore. If it werent for these guys being willing to sacrifice their time and energy I would have jumped ship a long time before I did.

I just had to laugh when I saw the blacked out 2K Insider. If 2K still wants to use this guy to produce the NBA2K rosters, I will be satisfied when he surpasses some of the other roster makers on this forum and goes more indepth by editing players tendencies as the season goes, editing and correcting playbooks as the season goes, and editing the coaching tendencies as the season goes, and gives us solid player ratings. I've messaged him for over 2yrs on editing player/coach tendencies and editing correcting playbooks and how those two things greatly inpact 2K's gameplay, but he seems to ignore them. But message about a ratings boost for a player or accessory edit or update, he responds or does it... so I don't know.

This explains why it took forever to fix DeAndre Jordan's jersey number last year (he was wearing the wrong number). I had to tweet this so-called "Insider" multiple times before he finally fixed it.

I don't think one person should be responsible for the whole league, it's too inefficient.

Re: Is the NBA 2K Insider a joke?

Rosters are so subjective. I looked at and studied the 2k rosters in 12 as well as the so called roster gurus within this forums roster section. There are things I don't agree with in every roster I have ever looked at.

Last year the rosters I used as a base had speed ratings spread out with accessories done as well as shot and dribble sig edits done too. Those were the biggest 2 problems along with play books for me. Once play books were done you could set coaching profiles up and tweak them to change the gameplay dramatically without any other changes within the rosters.

Most roster guys change to much stuff and they change stuff that doesn't even need to be changed and is not broken. My pet peave last year with 2k's and everyone elses rosters was the dribble tendencies and I don't think anyone got that right or even came close to realistically capturing what Nba players do In a game. Some over compensated with pull up jumpers (out of box mess), some half assed edits by only doing half of the league so the other half didn't mesh with the rest of their roster. I wrote a thread about this and play books and it was funny the lack of response due to mostly no one had any rhyme or reason to why they tweaked a area here or there. The only thing besides the above listed areas that needed a serious changing IMO was hot spots due mostly to spacing in freelance.

I get what jersey is saying by let's see the roster guys start from scratch and rate every player in the game and see what you get from scratch. That's a huge job when you think of all the ratings and free agents, d league, etc. but I also see what yAk says about 2 players with identical numbers. That's just lazy. I do believe the game can be tweaked to play so different than what we get out of the box. But just like sliders its subjective and whos to say this person is right over another. The problem lies IMO that the ratings need to be better tested to how it relates to gameplay.

As far as a few suggestions go on here about this person should be the insider etc. no one wants a know it all or a guy who is abrasive or a guy who only thinks his way is the right way. Show me scales that you created and references of your work with real life nba references to back up and support that info. Instead of this being top secret share it with the community. But again it becomes subjective when why you might rate lebron and durant a certain rating in a certain category. Who says which one should be higher by a point or 2. No matter who the insider is people will disagree no matter how much data backs up a rating. What I really want to see go bye bye though is overall ratings! I think that ruins certain ratings when your trying to achieve a certain overall rating for a player. I want LBJ to play like LBJ not a 95 rated video game player.

There's splitting hairs over whether or not LBJ's midranged rating should be an 85 or 86 (arbitrary numbers) then theres is voicing serious concern over AI controlled teams not seeming to understand basic basketball concepts. The vast majority of folks who are paying attention to this kind of thing will be more than reasonable when it comes to relativley small stuff. Let the extremists bitch as they will. Getting the core elements right out of the box would give them so much good will with the reasonable majority that the shrill complaining from the idiot corner would be drowned out.

Just want to say I was at ESPN a few weeks ago and got to watch first take. And when the cameras were off skip was mocking Stephen A. Smith by calling him Mr. NBA 2k Insider.

Thought it was worth a post.
