I don't watch online vids of video games. All my friends play Association. I don't really know anyone who messes with myplayer.

But that might be a generational thing. I'm older for a gamer 35 and our group grew up playing Franchise modes where it seems the younger generation might be more into rpg type gameplay.

Again I don't have statistics. Its completely possible that myplayer gets the majority of the love.

Me too as well. It seems like 2k is starting to market to a more younger crowd. I don't know, maybe I'm getting older but all those other modes just don't entertain me as much.

The association mode is where (or supposed to be) you have to really think and strategize to make your team better or to build a team from the ground up and do it as realistically as possible. Which makes it fun. I don't think we need a over-haul but just fix up the bugs from last year and just add anything to make it more interesting as you progress through the years.

No insight does not mean a bad thing but it can if you know what I'm saying.

This goes back to what I initially said about crew being under the "myplayer umbrella" which you seem to be agreeing with and that's the difference. I won't disagree with you that these career modes are becoming an industry standard but again franchise type mode have always been more of a staple in TEAM sports games(fight night nor tiger count) and are most often never abstinent since the PS2 days in games like Madden (abiet merged with superstar mode now) NCAA The NBA games (Live 2k) and the baseball games. And note that most all of these series made an effort to improve not only the "career" experience but the Franchise type experiences and in Maddens case merging them.

What you seem to be saying though is that you agree myplayer/crew are under the same feature umbrella which brings me to a parallel from the perspective of many of us offline association guys who were told upon 2k12's impending release that online association was our improvement or "feature" that yr to association so you can see the perfecting of myplayer and addition of 3 on 3 as almost the same in reference to the absence of crew.

If 2K attempted to add what they have this yr to myplayer/mycareer then added a crew mode which is basically an extension of that mode it would represent FAR to heavy of an effort and focus centered around one mode.

You must realize that you have some believe it or not that do not like nor touch myplayer or maybe like it but don't play online so naturally those people would not have an interest in crew mode which hsa the allure of using a myplayer in a team up setting online so what then would they be left with if 2K put time towards crew instead of the 3 on 3 mode or even the most moderate association additions or even factor in the time needed to add crew weighing in on what they have added to myplayer.

It;s very simple for me... Fix the association issues from 2k12 and I will still buy...

Too many association issues again I will not buy. Simple as that for me.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not someone who has any tiniest bit of interest in watching someone else's My Player videos online. All of my friends are Association-first people as well. I'm actually a classic teams-first person. That variance is why the "Dude, obviously you know which one is more popular, because all my friends play it" argument is never a solid one.

Same as above. I grew up without a stable internet connection in my house so I spent most of my time playing casual type friends, barbershop battles and association. I literally play this from a couple weeks after release till around early August.

As long as 2k worked on trade logic, and team management(Rotations), I think I would be happy. I never had many issues with it besides the way cpu handle its players(3 stars at 1 position and bench). Im being realistic and figured with MP hype Association wouldnt get much attention.

I dont need an overhaul, but a good tweak.

Ofcourse itd be nice to have some overdue things done like hiring coaches and bad roster logic by CPU but thats highly unlikely.

2k12 did have some small things better than 2k11 association like the CPU would no longer go way over the hard cap to sign players and slightly better roster logic.
Yessuh. If they fix it, I wouldn't even care too much about them updating it.

Same wishes here, only additions here is better player logic when signing with teams, mostly in FA. It really bugged me when Dwight And Chris ended up signing with the Bobcats and Raptors after one season in 2k12, that isn't realistic the player should be able to rank what is important to them, the chance to win a championship, overall team management etc. madden had something along those lines a few years ago, although I think it's slightly different now. Also really want already traded draft picks all the way to 2017. I will be really annoyed seeing the Lakers have picks after they just sold basically all of them in real life. Obiviously this feature should be allowed to be turned off but it needs to be at least an option.

I'm worried about the future of NBA 2K.
After playing the demo, it looks like a crossover and dunk fest. They made the controls more accessible for casual players.

I think the lack of competition could threaten the quality of this game. The fact that they did not touch association mode is very disappointing. Switching the controls for dribble from left stick to right is not enough to make the game feel fresh!

And all those saying they concentrate on MyPlayer this year, please spare me. On paper, those additions are gimmicks to me. Little touch created in order to generate buzz and hype the game. That's mostly all 2K is doing on this board: hyping their game and trolling you when you dare raise doubts and ask legit questions.
I'll wait and see if the AI has been truly improved. But I'm not sure I'll be able to play a MyPlayer with an alien looking face for a very long time.

Association is my favourite mode. I play it every year, and sim multiple seasons. In 2k11, i didn't even touch MyPlayer, simply because i love Association mode that much. Every year, i have hoped for a deeper Association mode. And every year, they have disappointed me. All year i have been saying that all i want from 2k13 is a deeper mode. To hear that they haven't touched it again makes me totally angry.

I don't mind if the user interface is exactly the same, but if they haven't tweaked he necessary things "under the hood" then i will be pissed. I will reserve judgement until then. But here's hoping.

If not, then i'm beginning to realize that 2k aren't gonna be the ones to satisfy my NBA GM fantasies!

Disappointed but not entirely surprised. MyPlayer is the new baby of the 2K franchise.

The question now becomes this -- is Association on hiatus or are they simply going to regurgitate the same mode year after year after year?

Do they view the mode as a thing of the past and on a steady trend downward? I certainly hope not but at the same time, I wouldn't put it past them. I mean, they haven't touched the mode in 2 years now.
