This would be perfect! Maybe on simulation settings with the contact sliders all the way up, outcomes like this will happen.

I know we tend to focus on what wasn't fixed, but looking back, I admit 2K did a pretty good job locking down the self-lob after the initial issues. I still think the self lob would be best served as being an individual dunk package though, thus opening the opportunity back up for lobs off the backboard between teammates, which seems to happen more frequently than self passes.

Take it out and only implement it for the all Star games.

I'd like to see this in a new category apart from dunk packages. Something like a 'special moves' category where you can get individual flashy moves to pull off when you want to, not have them randomized. I'd like to do a behind the back pass whenever I want to, for example. I would have its own individual button input like a special move in a fighting game. Self alleys would fit well in this category because there also needs to be some skill involved in it because its a little harder to pull off in-game than a normal dunk.

Only thing they really need to do is make sure when defenders are in the paths of these self-oopers (and dunkers in general) contact will register. The self-oop operated like a super magnet between player and ball and nothing seemed to disrupt the animation.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
