-No D-League: While many people did not use it, the D-League was a place so you could either play games, (let's face it, hardly anyone does that.) and store draft picks and players that need to develop more, this enabled you to have 16-17 players if you kept people sidelined in the D-League, and I liked the freedom.
Very disappointing. I played dleague games.

Another thing I absolutely hate: NOBODY (except for LeBron, Kobe, Durant, and other SUPERstars) can make a contact layup. It's like, why even try to drive the lane with anybody but those very few players who can make contact layups?

I went back to Pro and tweaked the sliders a bit. He was still making a lot, but at least was less aggressive and my D was able to make a stop every now and then.

It's not about bad D, I had guys in his face jumping to block every jumper and sticking to him like glue, still nothing but net every time. Pro seems to make things better for me.

I guess 2K needs to tone down signature skills somehow, because even the stars don't have amazing games every time.
yeah, i have to agree here. Allstar difficulty makes the CPU a bit too overpowered. the CPU just starts to get a bit too cheesy on Allstar level. they just make too many contested or difficult shots. defense needs to affect shot success a bit more in my opinion...i moved the shot contest strength slider on releases to 60, which felt about right for me - contested shots were missing when they should. this is a good fix if you're offline, but maybe online they should increase the effectiveness of defenders on contested shots.

Lol @ watching a Lakers @ Thunder game. Thunder won 116 - 109 in overtime, but the Lakers scored 92 of their points in the paint....please...

EDIT: Heck of a game to watch though for it being CPU vs CPU.

Yeah, but on the other hand, something that I think also happened in previous 2K's: Kevin Harlan was about to send it Doris Burke, and then there was a dunk. They were all excited and totally forgot that Doris was waiting. Poor Doris, she's probably still waiting there...until I play again.

                Re: NBA 2K13 Impressions Thread

Well I just got this last night and I was able to play some games.

                - Rebounding is a big mess, sliders can fix it but its still annoying.
                - Too much dunking even if the lane is clogged.
                - The isomotion is on rails and too stiff.

+ Zone defense actually works now I'm not sure why nobody noticed this.
                + Shooting feels better
                + Passing is WAAAAAAY better
+ Playing defense is fun and effective if you actually know what you are doing (players will block a driving player's lane but the dunking kinda destroyed this)

All in all its still rough and I hope a killer patch can fix this so that other game modes with no sliders will be as enjoyable as association and quick games.

                2k13 + pes 2013 = no social life.

                    Re: NBA 2K13 Impressions Thread

                    - Way too many dunks in traffic, not as bad as last year, but still unrealistic with even role players getting in on the action several times a game
-Every player on the cpu's team is Charles Barkley/Dennis Rodman on the offensive glass
-The CPU is way too efficient in general.. Guys make almost every layup/inside shot in traffic/with contact, every floater, even guys with mediocre mid-range ratings are deadly
-The CPU almost never misses open shots which is completely unrealistic.. Missed shots don't result from JUST good defense, guys miss open 3's, mid-range shots, close range shots all the time. It's ridiculous that Tony allen hit 4/6 from mid-range against me, even if you leave him wide open in real life, he is liable to miss on a consistent basis

Of course you don't want your game plan to be based on guys missing open shots and I'm not advocating that they should get crazy and make guys brick even half their open shots, but they need to account for guys just simply missing regardless of the defense played.

-Also on fastbreaks, your teammates will just slide out the way and let the offensive player freely lay the ball in or dunk. In addition, if you try and match up with guys on a break, your teammates will double the ball handler and allow an easy score in transition. If you try and guard the trailer, they'll open up a lane for the ball handler EVERY single time.

-Of course even if you have numbers and you try and stop the ball handler, they just power through or sidestep you while you're "magically" bumped out the way.

-Meanwhile if you're on a fastbreak, the computer is especially adept at cutting you off no matter who you're controlling or they have back there or the momentum your guy has, etc. Tons of times I have Wade or James on fast break with Steve Nash as the last line of defense and he's able to completely kill their momentum by just bumping into them (which should be a foul at least). Every SINGLE time, you can't speed by the CPU or power through. Yes you could use moves to alleviate some of this and I do, but moves aren't always required on a fast break. Sometimes open space is all that you need.

-Lastly, the fouls called against you are ridiculous. They call any ticky tack fouls, while the CPU is driving to the lane, but you'll get bumped and shoved under the basket, driving to the basket, in the post, etc and it rarely gets called.

Of course, I love the game despite all these flaws.

+Greatly improved animations, the euro-step (my favorite move of all-time) is particularly done well, especially in response to contact. Last iteration, you were launched into this largely ineffective runner/floater whenever a defender shoved his forearm into your chest (an obvious foul) and you almost always missed or rarely had a foul called
+Isomotion adds a ton of variety, looks impressive, makes certain moves easier
+Signature skills add a welcome layer of depth and further serve to differentiate the players
+Players genuinely play like themselves (with a few exceptions) ie. Carmelo Anthony + Jr. Smith taking a ton of shots and generally playing inefficiently
+Love the soundtrack and overall presentation... Jay-Z is my favorite artist though, so I can see how some would dislike these elements if they weren't a fan or were just casual fans, etc
+Commentary is done well again, great chemistry between everyone
+Fixed some of the faces that were in bad shape
+Added some new moves in the post and different jump shots to pull off

Overall it's a great game and there's more positives that I'm probably leaving out, but there still are some really frustrating aspects that hold it back.

It's not even just the real contact layups where you physically bump into someone. It's the layups where you're wide open until someone breathes on you just as you're releasing it. Player goes into one of those nice post layup fall or stumble animations that I like, but I almost never get a call. But then, I only play on My Career, so maybe players get calls based on their overall or soemthing.

The more I play trying to earn VC the more I loathe it. The constant autosaving after I make one little attribute alteration, which takes a while sometimes. Or how not being able to connect with the server after the Rookie Showcase causes me to have to replay the entire damn thing, sometimes doing worse and getting draft by someone I'm not really feeling.

It's not as simple as "Just play offline". When you can't (or I haven't figured out how to) give your player gear or different shoes because you gotta connect to the server and use VC to buy everything. It's a rule of mine that all my CAPs have headbands. No exceptions. I'm weird like that.

The gameplay is the main thing that keeps me coming back.

They only have one player in the 80's and not a lot of assigned signature skills. The Pacers would have probably been one of the better teams to use this sesason, but the implemented SS abilities negated a LOT of their strengths even over bench players.

My biggest beef is with Roy Hibbert though. Although he's rated properly, he doesn't play like he should in the game. In the game, he's a VERY PASSIVE center...I have played some games where he pulled down only ONE rebound for the entire game, yet he's 7'2". I have played some games where it seems he doesn't contest shots like he should, although I have opponents who CONSTANTLY drive into the lane. Honestly, I REALLY hope they make some changes to his ratings with the next update, so he plays like he should. Right now, he's just taking up space on the floor, and my opponents are not scared to drive into the paint against him.

                            End rant.
I used the Pacers in 2K12 and they did "dumb" down the team this year and you hit it right on the head Hibbert is so passive in this game it is rediculous. It is really noticable playing user vs. users HOF sim, especially with someone attacking the paint it is like his awareness is unsually low for some reason. I think 2K has to dumb down certain players/teams to show how "great" other players/teams really are but it sometimes comes off looking artificial. He was like 6-7 in blocked shots you would not have noticed playing as them.

floaters are way too successful. i don't even think i've seen a floater miss yet in this game...and i've probably seen about 50-60 floaters put up by now. 50+ floaters - and not one of them has missed in my experience...even when contested and with defenders in the way...no effect. the floater drops every time and appears to be immune to defenders. in real life, even for players who are good at floaters, the floater is a difficult shot to make, especially considering they always take place in traffic.

Open/lightly contested floaters fall WAY too often...I've seen plenty miss though, esp when tightly contested... I've even blocked a few.

I've really found my niche on the game. I decided to turn auto contest on intense D back on....It works really well for me as my defense has gotten deadly over the past few weeks. All Star sim and default no slider changed is what I've been playing on mostly,

Rebounding is pretty much my only gripe at this point. Around this time last year I was so frustrated with 2k12...2k13 had really brought me back! I'm having so much variety in my games..
