I feel like big guys just don't play like big guys defensively. Big, good defenders should be eating up space in the middle. They don't seem to do that. Way too easy to just avoid them.

The rebounding is terrible, No contact in the paint whatsoever, the game is too fast especially the dribbling.

The controls are not accurately responsive, some animations play out to long especially on post moves (cant break out of them) (Pros) There are more scoring options and the dribble stick is a move in the right direction, the game is visually better.

Online connectivity seems to be stable with no drops during games. As far as game play goes, it think they took a step back. This more arcade than sim. 2K needs to scrap this engine, coding or whatever and start from scratch. I know its impossible but if they don't then this what we will continue to get. a very flawed game year in and year out.

Wow dude...I'm seriously wondering what game you're playing. I respect you opinions but I gotta say you're way off on most of your assessments of his yrs game. I've gone as far as logging in more practice time (training camp, scrimmages, post play, and freestyle) more than actual gameplay. This is so I can get so comfortable with the game so it feels second nature. I advise you give it more time and practice the little things (the advantages a post jump hook instead of a fadeaway), what players can do (Kyle korver is not crossing anyone) and exploiting mismatches (again, korver is a poor defender. Running him though screens to get you shooter open pays!!) which 2k has given us the function of the game to "balance" this out. Its up to you to utilize it.

Not all big men are good defenders. Ex, Noah is a beast in the paint, banging and draining energy against opposing big men. But he's not as skilled post defender as Gibson. Learn to force offensive post players to poor angles, team help and keeping your hands helps distract shots. Remember, blocking post shots doesn't happen all that often in games. Most blocks occur on smaller players entering the paint...

oh lord. CPU comeback cheese is still in the game.

I was thrashing the Knicks after 3 quarters. in the 4th all of a sudden my team goes ICE cold and the CPU plays God-like basketball and wins by 1.

same ol **** from every other 2k.

I'm gotta admit, there's alil cheese still in the game. It's 2ks way of keeping it competitive. But they've toned it down a bit. When teams go on a run, use your timeouts!! And look to exploit matches, put in offensive threats & try getting the players in the hot spots using specific plays, and adjust defensively. Stop risky plays and turning the ball over. Or over playing on defense. The key is, the CPU adjusted to your playing style now you must adjust to theirs

I understand this, I just feel the dominant big guy defenders only seem to be able to deter shots when they're right in front of them, as opposed to sort of commanding the area around them. They don't use their arms enough in the game, to block shots slightly off to the side or to deter passes into the paint.

                Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

as I played more 2k games I think the reason why there are so many offensive rebounds by is because the pace is higher now. since both teams can score so easily in the paint, thats what I think it might be wrong though. I average close to 48-49 FGA per game pplaying the 5 min per quarter in 2k13. I know I averaged less in 2k12 cause of the defense. I play on all star.

one thing I hate that's still in 2k13 is the fact that a PG has a body of a freaking center. I thought the physics in 2k13 would change this but it didn't. I'm playing royce white running straight to the freaking paint and darren collison just stands there. Next thing I know because of the body collision thingymajig he somehow makes me miss the freaking layup. cmon man if I was playing as shaq I should be over to overpower this freaking midget!!! also you know what I notice, whenever the other team gets an offensive rebound and they do some shot that looks like the hook shot right after, its unmissable. the animation is so fast...thats not fair! i had like 3 players trying to block and put a body but it don't work.

PG and skinny players shouldn't be able to have a body of a center. when darren collison goes up against omer asik you know what??? the midget makes the layup, but royce white couldn't pound this kid???? yeah and my team mates just stand around staring at the opponent running the fast break straight in their faces. the a.i. in this game is a cheater!

there are way too many onball strip when i try to shoot too! also I wanna add that when I try to do a pump fake, it gets blocked wtf???????

I thought the bounce pass would be useful but its useless!!!! the a.i. has a six sense or something I try to do the bounce pass so many times but it chases the ball around so fast and gets a steal, its cheap.

I knew hustle would be a useless skill against the a.i.

I'm shooting over 48%+ on 3 point shots man hahahahahahahaaha i think something is wrong.

If you misuse the bounce pass, it will get stripped. I tried being reckless with it to see how much I can use it, and I learned quickly that you can't just abuse it.

Have to use it in realistic situations. I've had many a nice bounce pass to a lead player that the CPU couldn't get their hands on.

Playing Conditions: HOF/SIM 7-8 Minutes; Online Head 2 head

Online play using the above settings while playing a person who is committed to realism is very fun...No real major complaints...I still believe Offensive rebounding could be tweaked but otherwise the game plays fine and is allot of fun.

I even had an opponent attempt to double team every player that had the ball and while this tactic is not realistic it was easily beatable by simply finding the open player for the open shot, layup or dunk.

Fast-breaks make sense and seem to happen at the right pace...No issues with 3pt shot %...Steals make sense and I would have to say that under these specific game settings and conditions the game plays quite well.

Why is it that when you do a spin move you bump into somebody and drop the ball and start looking around like you forgot you are playing basketball and can't pick it back up?

                      What's the deal man?

One thing I do miss is the specific moves that each player specializes in. Ex: Kobe fade away post is excellent, his post hook is average. Chris Paul behind the back is excellent his in & out dribble is average, ect. This helped me understand what to utilize for each player

I'll keep it short and sweet.. Just picked up 2K13 tonight and I always pick it up at launch but held off this time, man I'm really loving the game, I was blown away by the demo, but I love everything about this game... I can't wait to start my franchise.. Great job again 2K.

The scoring in the dunk contest is laughable. LeBron was doing these real basic dunks compared to Durant and Josh Smith and was getting higher marks for it. They really should have just not had any difficulty gradings for the dunks because some which are supposedly the hardest, would be easier to do in real life than some of the medium ones.

3pt contest is awkward. Pressing LT and then X? Sometimes you'll be pressing X and your player won't do ANYTHING.

Still can't set inbound plays in timeout menu.

Like the new pick and roll system. Far easier and more intuitive, so hopefully I'll be seeing more slips, like in real life.

Game seems EXTRA slow in the paint.

Well im LATE!!!! Very very late with this reveiw...so ill keep it simple

Of course the gameplay is amazing, with great animations, sig moves, yada yada yada....but this year what i find and love the most, which i started out hating at first, is the new control scheme. For some reason this new way of control brings a arsenal of new moves & countless ways to attack the rim. Now im finding that i see new types of new animations while attacking the rim. The control alone can now create a endless supply of undercover moves that we can find and bring to the table. Call it a "Breath of fresh air" is what i think is the right words for this new control in 2k13.

I knew i was always a core deep simulation player when it comes to ME as a FAN, so now that i have tried the PC version of nba 2k13, i now understand what true simulation is. NBA 2k13 PC is a basketball sim dream game.....

The problem i have so far is the HIGH SCORING which i expected this year. History always tells us year after year 2k switches it up on us. One year they slow it down, next year turn it UP....2k8 (slow) 2k9 (fast) 2k10 (slow) 2k11 (fast) 2k12 (slow) 2k13 (fast)...see where im getting. Its part of history and 2k will flip your tiny little heads round & round until your caught up in a 2k matrix. With time i will find a way to slow the game down, but still, 2k kinda went crazy with percentage this year

im a fan FIRST, and a gamer SECOND.

                              thank you 2k

What I'm loving the most is the fact that the CPU doesn't play so mechanically and run down the shot clock every possession. They definitely play a more fluent brand of basketball.
