I'm just saying in this year's game, 2K13, there's not even a legends mode right? So in theory they're just wasting space on a disc. I enjoy legends every now and then but it's not what sold any 2K for me..ever. Just because it is what it is: NBA 2K13..focus on 2013..just how I see it.

You're right with the celebrity team and stuff like that, completely pointless..

last year people complained that we couldnt use old teams online. we get that ability now and all the teams unlocked from jump and people still find a reason to complain again. then you all complained that we couldnt put legends on regular teams in the roster editor but now we can without buying dlc.I wouldnt buy the game without the legends.

Dont you understand some people want to relive their childhood memories of live 95, bulls vs lakers and nba showdown but with todays graphics and play mechanics. i bought my 360 because of messenjah matts jordan videos. i never bought a game cause jimmer would be in it. if you have no interest in the legends its most likely cause you cant get an achievement for it or you just dont know who of these guys are anyway. you want them to focus on 2013 but what else do you think they could have added with that development time. they added 1 classic team that really took a lot of time off todays nba developtment. btw the disc isnt even close to reaching capacity. you simply want the legends off the disc cause you dont use them. thats why in your theory they are wasting space on a disc. why? because it dosent unlock anything and you will get no reward for playing it. i dont use my player but i never blamed that modes development time on the lack of potential new classic teams or a crew mode. this game is made for everyone in mind not just guys who dont know anything about the generation before them and only see whats in front of them.

I said I don't play with legends enough for it to make or break a game. If you don't like today's basketball then why even buy the game? That's what the NBA is..a league. It progresses every year...so quit insulting me about liking current players that makes no sense at all.

He just basically said he wants more current retro teams if that makes sense. Which I agree with. I want more 90's/ 2000's teams then teams of the 70's.

Looking at the last posts....I may be wrong....but

I would speculate that the vast majority of us who love the classic teams mostly care about 80s, 90s, 00's and can do without the 70's and prior. Maybe with the exception of Dr J. I hate to leave out some legends in that era but the reality is, I dont think people who watched those games play allot of video games. And if you can save a few bucks by not including them and grabbing some others, I think you do it.

I think many of us that love 80's ball played atari "line and dot" basketball, double dribble on NES, NBA Jam, Run N Gun arcade, Lakers vs Celtics on Genesis, and on and on. We moved into other variations and then NBA Live started to pull us in. Then Dreamcast dropped a 2k our way and it was jaw dropping.....fast forward to around 2k10 and we all just thought.....man....I wish I could play this game with some of those mid 80s to 90s teams.

I posted under some other name on operation sports about how cool it would be to have classic teams and I referenced how Madden used to do it. I have no idea if it made an impact or not but when I saw Jordan on 2k11 and the greatest on 2k12....I was pumped. I had no idea it would be so complete and had no idea it was possible.

I just want more classic teams too!! I love classic teams and the fact that teams from ALL eras were represented but don't like the fact that the 50s and 00s are not represented. If it were up to me I would include many of the teams that won nba championships and some of their NBA playoff and finals opponents. In addition to all the teams that were on 2k12, I think they should have at least included the 50's Minneapolis Lakers, 75 Warriors, 77 Blazers, 82 Sixers, 92 Bulls, 95 Rockets, any of the 00's 3peat Lakers teams, 03 or 07 Spurs, 04 Pistons, and others. Oh and I used to love when Madden had all the classic superbowl teams including the ones that won the previous year(and this was on ps1 and ps2), and when Nhl 2k had classic teams, and I love the fact that WWE includes legends in their games too. IMO having classic teams in sports (entertainment)games makes games even more fun and it all sets up dream match ups that would otherwise never happen.

i myself was hoping for teams like the '01 lakers (with the sixers of course), '06 heat & mavs, and also the '08 celtics & lakers. would have been complately fine with all of those, and i could have done without some of the old, old teams like the 65 celts.

oh, and of course the nine trey suns with barkley and especially the '83 sixers with bark, malone and erving.

i'm just glad i play on pc and in a few weeks all of those teams will be available albeit being 'fan-made' as opposed to 2k.

The last point you make is a really good one. Sports fans, talk radio, etc are always comparing and discussing fictional match ups of the greatest teams and players. The video game world is a place you can have fun with those conversations. That was the whole point of the dream team vs USA. 2K...PLEASE NEVER ABANDON THIS SIMPLE CONCEPT OF CLASSIC TEAMS even if it has to move to DLC.

Is this true? If so, did many of the players have CyberFaces?

like you said the legends arent a big selling point to you but on the other hand i wanna point out that nba 2ks first truly successful selling game was nba 2k11 with jordan on the cover. 2k11 sold more than 2k10 and live 10 combined on both platforms. heres my problem. jordan and the legends brought the series mainstream. before this game 2k was worried about ea buying them and shutting them down. this game was so good and successful due to a combination of the old and new players. it had something for everyone. they followed up with an improvement in 2k12 and a big question was are the legends gonna still be in. now that we are the number #1 selling game and on top everyone wants to drop the guys that brought us to the dance. the legends.

i remember when 2k was giving away 2k5 for 20 dollars cause no one would buy it even though it was better than live. 2k3 and espn nba 2k4 tanked sales wise even though they were better live 2003 and 2004 which got over cause the freestyle controls and dunk button respectively. the moral is if it wasnt for jordan and the focus on legends in nba2k11 then ea wouldve bought these guys just to shut them down. i feel they have done all they can to the current players so why not add to what got u here in the first place. anymore work being dont to the core game would just be making sure everyones tattoos and headband colors are current. that isnt gonna sell units but maybe a few more classic teams would to someone on the fence

to end this dont be so sweet. i never insulted you cause you like current players. i could care less about you. i just hate people with the opinion that adding classic teams is in some way hindering the current nba. i may be wrong but you seem to be one of these people. let them add as many classic teams as people want. afterall its the gimmick that made them a critical success anyway. jordan brought people in and the gameplay made them come back.

All we need is the 1992 Bulls and the 1996 Bulls. We dont need any other Bulls teams besides them. If we didnt have the 3 other Bulls teams we could of had teams like the 77 Blazers

i feel you man, i'm the same way. call me bad but i play with nothing but the 90's era bulls - it's so fun putting the 91-93 team up against the present day heat; it's the perfect match-up and almost never got old.

i know you're disappointed but we should be glad we have legend teams at all, it could have been worse. if you can, go with the pc version - a few weeks after the release all holes will be filled. do yourself a favor and don't go back to 2k12, the gameplay is just so FLAT. i'm hoping it's better this year.. at least i get the impression it is.

...i mean, at least play 2k11 over 12, haha.
