Man, an 0-14 Magic and a 17-0 Knicks? I've never had that happen before. (Though I just recently had a 13-2 Bobcats... wtf.)Comment

JAZZ ASSOCIATION PART 5: Game 39 A**-Whoopin'
Of the games I have played in my association so far, I am 5-6. I have won by 10 or less in 4 of the 5 games I won, and I have loss by 10 or less in 5 of the 6 games I lost. I did not see anything special in Game 39 of the association against the Pistons, and for half of the first quarter while playing nothing was special, but the game was special. I had to post this.
THE FACTS
Spoiler
Utah headed into Detroit on a back to back after winning Atlanta by 9 points, the team was fatigued heading into Detroit. Detroit was also on a back to back home stand, recently winning Milwaukee. The Pistons were also surging, winning 6 of their last 7 games. Utah isn't a very good road team, and it was assumed that Utah would lose. That was far from the case, and great shooting and smothering D lead the Jazz to their most lopsided win of the season.
FINAL SCORE:
DETROIT: 75
UTAH: 109
TEAM STATS
Spoiler
Wilson Chandler lead the team to a great 30-20 start to start the game, and in all but the last quarter, the Jazz kept the Pistons to 20 points or under, and the last quarter the Jazz reserves played the whole time. The Jazz and Pistons each had 35 rebounds on the night, but the Jazz had 23 assists comparted to Detroit's 11 assists. The Jazz also only had 5 turnovers compared to 12 by the Pistons, but this isn't what made the Jazz win the game. The Jazz first held the Pistons to a 40% field goal percentage, compared to Utah's 57% field goal percentage. The Jazz also made 44% of their 3 point attempts during the game. Wilson Chandler alone had 7-9 3 point attempts, 4 of which came in the first quarter.
DETROIT PLAYER GRADES
Spoiler
STARTING PG: BRANDON KNIGHT (8 pts, 5 reb, 4-11 FG)
Knight had a terrible game, constantly being outplayed by both Bledsoe and Augustin. His shot wouldn't fall, and he tallied only 1 assist during the whole game. GRADE: D
STARTING SG: RODNEY STUCKEY (12 pts, 1 blk, 5-8 FG)
Stuckey was the most productive player on the Pistons during the game. When 12 points and 2 assists is the best performance you have, you know you are having a bad night. GRADE: C
STARTING SF: COREY MAGGETTE (6 pts, 2 reb, 3-8 FG)
Maggette looked more like bench material during his time on the court. He did little with his given time, and looked outmatch constantly during the game, getting thoroughly outplayed by Chandler and Carroll. GRADE: D-
STARTING PF: CHARLIE VILLANUEVA (2 pts, 2 reb, 1-3 FG)
..... I take that back about Maggette looking more like bench material. GRADE: F
STARTING C: JASON MAXIELL (5 pts, 4 reb, 2-4 FG)
Greg Monroe was out of the line-up with a broken foot, and as decent as Maxiell tried to play on defense, he was really a non-factor as well for this Detroit team. GRADE: D+
BENCH:
V. Kravtstov (8 pts, 5 reb, 3-8 FG)
J. Calderon (8 pts, 3 ast, 2-6 FG)
J. Jerebko (6 pts, 4 reb, 2-4 FG)
K. Middleton (4 pts, 1 stl, 2-7 FG)
W. Bynum (4 pts, 2 to, 1-4 FG)
A. Drummond (4 pts, 6 reb, 2-2 FG)
As you can see from the bench stats, Detroit's bench played much better than it's starters tonight. The whole team struggled with shooting, but Andre Drummond rebounded and played defense, and Kravtstov and Jerebko played decently as well. The Detroit team as a whole struggled tonight though. GRADE: C-
UTAH PLAYER GRADES
Spoiler
STARTING PG: ERIC BLEDSOE (13 pts, 4 ast, 5-5 FT)
Bledsoe played a solid game, outplaying Brandon Knight thoroughly. Bledsoe was great at getting to the foul line this game, and was a great playmaker through out it. GRADE: B+
STARTING SG: RANDY FOYE (5 pts, 1-8 FG, 1-6 3PT)
Foye is one of only two Jazz players who struggled to contribute tonight for Utah. Foye missed open shot after open shot, though he did have an amazing block on the night, and solid defense. GRADE: D
STARTING SF: WILSON CHANDLER (23 pts, 8-10 FG, 7-9 3PT)
Chandler, unlike Foye, could not miss tonight. His defense sagged off him and he made them pay. He could have performed even more tonight, but was pulled from the game halfway through the third quarter so the bench players could have an opportunity. GRADE: A
STARTING PF: DERRICK FAVORS (8 pts, 4 reb, 4-8 FG)
Derrick Favors had more of a quiet night tonight. Maxiell played decent defense on him at times, but Favors, like Chandler, had much less minutes to play than usual. His defense was great tonight, which is a major boost for Utah. GRADE: B-
STARTING C: JAVALE MCGEE (8 pts, 4 reb, 1 blk)
McGee had a quiet night like Favors, but had much more of an impact on the defensive end. He had limited minutes like Favors and Chandler, but produced in them. GRADE: B-
SIXTH MAN: GORDON HAYWARD (6 pts, 2-6 FG, 2-4 3PT)
Hayward was the only other Jazz player to have an offnight against the Pistons. He didn't play badly, but he didn't really contribute either. GRADE: C
BENCH:
D. Carroll (11 pts, 1 stl, 4-8 FG)
C. Brewer (11 pts, 1 stl, 1 blk)
D.J. Augustin (10 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast)
A. Burks (8 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast)
E. Kanter (6 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast)
I. Johnson (0 pts, 2 reb, 1 stl)
Demarre Carroll played amazing defense, Brewer cut to the rim constantly, Augustin and Burks were decent play-makers, and Kanter battled evenly with Drummond and even showed play-making skill of his own. The Jazz bench had its most complete night of the season. GRADE: A
NOTABLE NOTES
Spoiler
-Greg Monroe was injured with a broken foot.
-None of the Pistons players had a plus-minus higher than -11.
-Besides Ivan Johnson, all of the Jazz players had at least 5 points.
-No one on the Jazz had higher than 4 assists, though 4 players had 4.
-The highest Jazz lead of the game was 39, the highest Pistons lead was 1.
-Several technicals were giving during the game. Corey Maggette kicked the basketball, Demarre Carroll and Rodney Stuckey got double technicals after an altercation occurred, and Villanueva and Corey Brewer got double technicals after Brewer blocked a Villanueva lay-up while leading by 39 and an altercation ensued.
Didn't really plan to do many Game posts, but maybe once in a while with notable games.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
So far, my two rookies (Nerlens Noel of Kentucky and Michael Snaer of Florida State) have done pretty well. Noel just locked up Rookie of the Month of November. Through 15 games (he missed two due to an ankle injury), he's averaging 11.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 0.7 BPG. Snaer is averaging 10.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 2.5 APG while being in and out of the starting rotation. Problem is, both of them are lottery picks in most people's draft classes, so, if you made the playoffs, you're gonna have to trade up to get them.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
It seems that okc is too strong for me as we lost by large margins in game 2 and 3
so i just simmed the remaining games and we lost 4-1 and it seems realistic
Heading to the offseason we managed to get the 2nd pick, thanks to the last season steal for orl 2013 pick. Mclemore got the 1st pick by hornets and i got shabbaz muhammad! I was offered the 13th pick and expiring marion for jeff green and our 28th pick. I took it and drafted mcadoo!
Off to the pool, i got dalembert, wolters (rookie) and korver. I traded brandon bass for future picks to spurs.
Our 2014 lineup:
C - kg, t zeller, dalembert, melo
PF - marion, sully, mcadoo
SF - pierce, muhammad, korver
SG - bradley, lee
PG - rondo, wolters
Rebuild and contend! Celtics ready to move on when pierce and kg retires! And i have 26mil cap next season to sign bradley and/or get a star in the offseason!Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Just a follow-up on my last post, here are some player evaluations for my team.
STARTING LINEUP:
PG Greivis Vazquez (12.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 7.4 APG, .436 FG %, .422 3-PT FG %)
Vazquez has really turned out to be a very helpful addition to the team. Along with being a solid scorer and passer, as a 6'6 point guard, he also has helped out on the boards as well. As long as he can stay healthy, this team will go far.
SG Aaron Afflalo (8.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, .412 FG %, .318 3-PT FG %, 1.2 TOPG)
Afflalo missed 4 games this season with an ankle injury, but even whe he's played, he hasn't been nearly as effective as he was with the Magic and Nuggets. It's hard when you have to split minutes with two other shooting guards, but Afflalo hasn't really helped himself with missing open 3-pointers, or letting opposing shooting guards put up big numbers on him
(Note: When playing against the Suns, Shannon Brown had 21 points in the last game, and Afflalo was a -4.In the previous game against the Rockets, JR Smith put up a game-high 31 points. Afflalo was +12, but he did still give up the majority of Smith's points.)
SF Iman Shumpert (10.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.3 APG, .419 FG %, .279 3-PT FG %)
Shumpert, like Afflalo, has missed a few games due to injury, but he's really stepped up even amidst that. He's been very dependable defensively, and whenever the Knicks have played a team with a scorer in the 1-3 spots, Shumpert has been the one to cover him (in regards to the above note, I had Shumpert cover Jeremy Lin against the Rockets, and Michael Beasley against the Suns).
PF Carmelo Anthony (24.2 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 5.9 APG, .661 FG %, .273 3-PT FG %)
What can I say? Melo is just being Melo. Only stats that really stick out are the field goal percentage and assist per game. Currently he is 6th in the league in scoring (1st in scoring among power forwards).
C Nerlens Noel (R) (11.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG, .613 FG %)
Noel wrapped up the Player of the Month of November with his performance. He's done a really good job not only scoring, but rebounding as well. He's well on his way to winning the Rookie of the Year award.
BENCH:
SG Michael Snaer (R) (10.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.5 APG, .435 FG %, .348 3-PT FG %)
Snaer may not win ROTY, but he certainly is making a case for himself. He's played well enough to steal away J.J. Redick's job as the team's 6th man. There is certainly star potential in the young guard if he can continue his play on both sides of the ball.
C Nikolva Vucevic (10.1 PPG, 5.2 RPG, .597 FG %, .333 3-PT FG %)
After complaining early in the season due to not being in the starting lineup, Vucevic has accepted his role, and has been playing exceptionally well. He scored a career-high 21 points in win against the Rockets. His defensive skills still leave much to be desired, but he has been a solid rebounder, and has thrived off of the Knicks pick and roll offense, scoring wise.
SG J.J. Redick (7.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, .451 FG %, .400 3-PT FG %)
Redick has had his moments, but with how well Snaer has played, Redick has been reduced from the sixth man to a role player. He still gets a good amount of minutes per game, and has taken over the role that Steve Novak held for the past two seasons.
C Miles Plumlee (6.4 PPG, 2.7 RPG, .647 FG %)
Like many Duke players before him, Plumlee has showed flashes of being a really good player, but so far, that's all they've been. While he's been solid scoring-wise, defensively, he's been lackluster.
PG Sebastian Telfair (5.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.9 TOPG, .360 FG %)
Once sought as being the next big star in the NBA, Telfair really hasn't done much in his 10 year career. Playing for his 7th team since starting his career, he's gotten solid minutes, and had an amazing game against the Raptors in which he had 15 points and 18 assists. However, that seems to have been a blip in the radar. Since that game, he's been quiet, to say the least, and has struggled to take care of the ball. He also has been very sporadic defensively.
PF Lamar Odom (4.6 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.1 APG, .521 FG %, .357 3-PT FG %)
Nobody really though Odom would be much of a contributor with the Knicks, but he has been solid. He's taken care of the ball pretty well, and has overall been a decent scorer and rebounder in limited minutes.
SF Adam Morrison (3.5 PPG, .750 FG % in two games played)
Morrison isn't really expected to contribute on the team, but has done pretty well in two games played in garbage time.
SF Kyle Singler (1.7 PPG, 1.0 RPG, .455 FG %, .333 3-PT FG %)
Singler hasn't done too much in limited playing time, and hasn't been active since the win over the Hornets.
SG Jerry Stackhouse (0.2 APG, 0-4 FG, 0-3 3-PT FG in five games played)
Stackhouse hasn't gotten any significant playing time so far this season, and has been a reserve since the game against the Bulls.
C DeSagana Diop (Yet to play in a game)
Diop has not come off of the reserve list so far this season.Comment

JAZZ ASSOCIATION PART 6: FINAL TRADE I SWEAR
I think we all knew someone was on their way out for Utah. The Jazz had too many wing players, with Randy Foye, Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks, Corey Brewer, AND Kevin Murphy. The Jazz obviously wanted to keep Hayward and Burks, and Murphy was okay sitting on the bench. The Jazz were being backed up on the PF and C slots by Jajuan Johnson and Ivan Johnson, so it was obvious that they needed help at the big men slots. Brewer or Foye had to go. In a 3 team trade involving Utah, Dallas, and Milwaukee, Utah acquired more big men. Utah received Ekpe Udoh and Bernard "Sarge" James in the trade, while giving up Randy Foye and Ivan Johnson. Milwaukee also gave a 2nd round pick to Utah. The disgruntled Doron Lamb and Joel "Vanilla Gorilla" Pryzbilla headed to Dallas for Mike James as well.
THE TRADE
Utah Acquires: Ekpe Udoh, Bernard James, '13 2nd round pick
Dallas Acquires: Joel Pryzbilla, Doron Lamb
Milwaukee Acquires: Randy Foye, Ivan Johnson, Mike James
Final trade I swear. I want everyone on this team. Everyone has a distinct role, and I'm loving the roster.
UTAH ROSTER
PG: Bledsoe/Augustin
SG: Hayward/Burks/Brewer/Murphy
SF: Chandler/Carroll
PF: Favors/Udoh/Johnson
C: McGee/Kanter/JamesComment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Currently sitting at 1-1 in the ECF vs the Heat.
The Knicks took game 1 91-86 in a hard fought game. It's apparent that to beat the Heat they're going to need some good ball rotation, and their subs to make use of their minutes. JR Smith continues to miss the ECF with a severe ankle sprain in which he received in the last round vs Brooklyn.
Game 2 looked like a sure win for the Knicks but down the stretch they fell apart. They lost another 4th quarter lead and fell victim to sloppy shooting, and let their emotions get the best of them as Carmelo Anthony received his 3rd technical foul (kinect) of the 2013 playoffs. Knicks lost 84-99.
Game 3 on now.5Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Just beat the heat 102-100 in game 3. There were like 18 lead changes by the 4th. I got called for an offense interference on the go ahead basket with 14 seconds. Got a steal with Shump on the next possession and threw it down. Wade missed a 3 pointer at the buzzer.
Lakers push to 3-1 over the Thunder who are missing KD since mid last round. Dwight put up 30 and 17 to beat OKC 114-67 (craziest score ive ever seen).5Comment
