JAZZ ASSOCIATION Part 2: Month of November
    9 Min. Quarters
    11 Min. Quarters (Simulated)

Part 2 of my new association with the Jazz, I have decided to play a game for each week, so roughly 4-5 games a month. I am 2-2 during the month, winning Phoenix by 5, and winning the Kings in overtime. I lost to the Wizards and Thunder. During the whole month the team is 9-8. One more massive trade occurred during the month, in which I decided to follow the rumors surrounding Millsap right now. I traded Paul Millsap and Mo Williams for Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler and Lamar Odom. Odom has refused to play anywhere but L.A., so he is not with the team, though I still have to pay for his contract this year.

Anyway, I started playing my old Association mode, and I am in the playoffs. I just had the most heartbreaking loss ever lol. It's game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. I am the knicks facing the bulls. The entire game up until like the last two minutes of the 3rd we were tied. The bulls suddenly pulled off a big lead (11 points) between the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th. I just couldn't catch up. I tried hitting threes, and playing great defense but I couldn't get past an 8 deficit. Well, 1:44 left and I start making a comeback. I am able to tie it up. At about 6 seconds left, D-Rose hits a longggg two (almost a three). So I'm thinking, either game over or going to OT. I have Brandon Jennings as my PG, I inbound it to him. I sprint down the court to shoot with him, but I see Carmelo wide open on the corner, so I pass to him, and low and behold he makes the 3 which gives me the one point lead with 1.8 seconds left. I won, right. Nope. Noah inbounds it to rose on the opposite end of the court and heaves it all the way down the court and it goes in. I lost that way. Man, it was devastating lol. To come back, and to lose off a miracle lob sucks lol. Out of all the teams in the game, the one I struggle facing the most is the bulls. Their bigs are just too much to handle.
Wow dude!!! That is incredible!!! Ive seen a full court shot being made but never to win the game and especially not in the playoffs. Sorry to hear about that heartbreaker man. I guess this is game is pretty realistic and as crazy as it sounds but it could happen in real life like that too...I just wonder how many people have lost that way on 2k13 or if it was truly like a once in a million chance of happening ...

I'm getting my copy in a couple days and I'm starting to think that instead of the "youngest team in the NBA" (Kings), I may go with the oldest (NYK)...

Interesting to see that it turns into a rebuild after season one, mostly due to retirements...

How do you replicate their current offence?

        From what I understand they:

        Pick and Roll

        Drive and Dump

Swing it around the perimeter a lot

        Shoot a LOT of 3s

With Melo as a 4, it's kind of Small Ball / Nelly Ball too, right?

Any thoughts or input on running the O like the actual Knicks currently are?

        Thanks!
Well, now my dilemma is I have 6 guards who have played very well for me (Telfair had 15 points and 18 assists in a win against Toronto) but not enough minutes to go around. I don't want to trade Shumpert, Vasquez, or Snaer. Out of Telfair, Afflalo, and Redick, I only really want to get rid of one if I have to.

And actually, I play almost exactly how the Knicks do in real life in the game. I don't really drive and kick too much, but my offense lives and dies off of the Pick and Roll and 3-Point game (hence signing Redick and Vucevic and trading for Vasquez and Singler, although Singler doesnt really play too much).

          New York Knicks Association Update

With 3 games left in the month of November, my team is now 14-0. Have had a few close games, and even had to rally a comeback against the Cavaliers, winning 119-114. Had a rough time with the Sixers, but ended up winning 97-90. Would end up winning the next three in tough games against the Hawks (who have Chris Paul), Raptors, and Bobcats.

The next two games were not even close. Against Chicago, I outscored them 35-12 in the first quarter. I made my first 13 shots, and they missed their first 9 or 10 (they hit 6 free throws) and I opened up a 31-6 lead midway through the first quarter. I ended up winning 119-91.

Then, against the Hornets in a battle between Kentucky big men Nerlens Noel and Anthony Davis, the Hornets gave me problems, but after a huge 3rd quarter, I ended up winning 111-82.

I end the month against the 5-8 Grizzlies, 4-7 Rockets (they added JR Smith), and 10-4 Suns (they have Dwight Howard). Very good chance I end the month undefeated, but December is going to start out tough with match-ups against the Thunder and Clippers, and a rematch with the Spurs. Luckily I don't play Miami until late January.

            Telfair, he's least talented.

Well, Afflalo can also play SF if it helps the rotation out, Shump has alos been playing there, again, if you can get them minutes there it frees up minutes at the 1 or 2. And if Telfair's playing that well right now, only trade him if he's current productivity's being accounted for.

Do you call your plays or do you use "Auto"?

Does the existing NYN playbook work for this gameplan?

Did you make any adjustments to the coach sliders?

Any tips / clarifications / input on getting this to run as close to their current IRL offence appreciated!

Cool to see you rebuild around your gameplan /scheme...helps keep it challenging / real, etc!

Okay guys, running a 30 team control association and the Kings are in position to resign Tyreke Evans. IRL, Tyreke didn't get his extension and now he's a restricted free agent. Do the Kings make him a qualifying offer and match the likely big contract he gets? Do they let him walk? A sign and trade?

I'm not sure which way to go. Tyreke is young and has talent but hasn't been the same since his rookie year. Sacramento isn't as high on him as they once were but can they let him walk?

Same question for Milwaukee and Brandon Jennings ... do they let him walk? They made the playoffs with him but again got eliminated in the first round 4 games to 1. So, is it time for them to break up the backcourt?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I guess selling Telfair while he's hot would probably be a good idea. He's 28 years old, so he can still probably contribute on another team.

Cool to see you rebuild around your gameplan /scheme...helps keep it challenging / real, etc!

I actually very seldom run plays. I have it on Auto, but I also have Mike Woodson's run plays set to "0"

As for his other sliders, I highly recommend boosting help defense from 60 to 75, or else as soon as one of your defenders loses their man on the drive, nobody will contest the shot, and that's an easy two points for the opponent.

If you want to run the offense identically to the Knicks in real life, you gotta use screens almost constantly. Mostly pick and roll, but if you wanna use Melo at the 4, or if you have a 4 and/or 5 who can shoot the three (i.e. Vucevic, Spencer Hawes, etc), have him pick and fade so he can possibly find himself open for a 3. I've done that with Steve Novak sometimes in the past.

I think I'll trade him if/when he starts complaining about minutes, or before the deadline. Whichever comes first.

IN my firm belief Sac town is committed to the long term potential of cousins by far over tyreke, cousins is a straight up 5 TOOL PLAYER he can do everything on the court and eventually I believe he will become the best center in the nba the only thing he needs to do his mature. Sacramento has not publicly stated it but tyreke can only dominate the game with the ball in his hand, he is not a great playmaker however he is very good at getting the cup and finishing other aspects of his game are sorely lacking and how often to you see tyreke ever get a game with 8- 10 assists where as cousins almost every game gets at least 10 boards. Cousins agile feet and very underrated lateral movement makes him very good defensively away from the basket and with the size he is at, it's impressive. Milwaukee's situation I believe brandon jennings will be a very good starting point in the league probably making 2-3 all star games by the time his career is over. I think milwaukee will take his john hancock but not for a max deal probably a ty lawson type of deal in the range 4 years for 40 million or something like that. Milwaukee will trade ellis before jennings. Ellis is a volume shooter that wont help a team in any other aspect of the game. Jennings can run team, excellent ball handler, better defensively than ellis, better shooter shooter and higher iq.

I agree with pretty much everything here. Ellis is def gonna get traded this offseason (his shooting percentage dropped to 42% this year, second worse in his career).

Letting Tyreke walk is tough but there's not much of a trade market out there for him ... not sure where he ends up. I know I def have interest in him from the standpoint of the team I'm running, the Bobcats, but I'll have to see where else he might fit.

JAZZ ASSOCIATION PART 3: FINAL MAJOR SHAKE-UP

Alright, I wasn't planning to trade Jefferson until February, but after being a .500 team for almost two months, I knew something had to change.

                                THE TRADE
Al Jefferson, Caron Butler, and a pick to Denver
Wilson Chandler, Corey Brewer, and Javale McGee to Utah

This trade works because both Chandler and McGee are unhappy with their roles in Denver, and are on long-term contracts. Jefferson is willing to re-sign with the team, so Denver isn't just acquiring a rental. This makes the Jazz a full-on rebuilding team, and gives Denver their final piece of the puzzle. A dominant center.

Utah won't make any more trades until the deadline, as their team is now in a full-on rebuilding mode. Denver is a playoff contender, and not a middle of the pack team.
