Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
As i want to start an association with a team that isnt used much, i decided to take a look through the dynasty forum and i have a shortlist of teams who don't seem to be used much:
Celtics
Grizzlies
Mavericks
Pacers
Spurs
Timberwolves
Let me know if any of you guys have suggestions on which team i should run with and if possible a good reason why
I'm terrible at deciding and sticking with a team so i appreciate any opinions from others who do a better job
Other than that, I haven't seen many with the rest.MIAMI HEATComment

I'm about to start the playoffs in my wizards association. We're currently the 5th seed with 8 games to go. I have a question, in the playoffs, is anything different? The atmosphere, commentary, white outs?REDSKINS & WIZARDSComment

Yeah there's quite a few, I love it. At the beginning of series there's a little movie intro with words, commentators make comments about the last series or how a persons season went, Etc. Playoff time is awesome IMO.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Just wanted to get back to sharing my Association now that I've finally got the setup I want. I used a great package of rosters with sliders to match, but I wanted to set things up a little different to make the games quicker so I went my own way. I play with the Pistons, and I have made some changes -- but I will never use trade override, nor do I like to sim games as I like all stats and awards and such to be of my doing. I play 12 minute games, with only very minor slider changes. I use 0 Player Speed as I use 100 Game Speed to make the games as fast as possible with a full 48 minutes. I am playing 82 games with my setup as I am currently out of work on medical and have the time to play a lot with this game. I will keep posted on progress and some game reports, and if you have any questions about my setup, please let me know.
I will post first my roster, then the transactions I made to get to that roster, then a short recap of the early part of my season. Sorry for the lengthy first post, but this is the first time I've shared this association!
2012-2013 Detroit Pistons
PG - Jose Calderon
SG - Brandon Knight
SF - Ersan Ilyasova
PF - Greg Monroe
C - Andre Drummond
SG - Rodney Stuckey (6th Man)
PF - Tyler Hansbrough
SF - Gerald Green
C - Jonas Valanciunas
PG - Bassy Telfair
SF - Kyle Singler
PF - Jeff Pendergraph
Transactions to this point:
10/30 - DET/IND: DET sends J. Maxiell and K. Middleton for T. Hansbrough and J. Pendergraph
10/30 - DET/MIL: DET sends C. Maggette, C. Villaneuva, 2014 1st rounder (DET), for E. Ilyasova, S. Dalembert, 2013 & 2014 2nd Rounders (MIL)
11/2 - DET/IND: DET sends J. Jerebko, 2 2013 2nd Rounders (MIL & DET) and 2014 2nd rounder (DET) for Gerald Green and 2014 1st Rounder (IND)
11/4 - DET/TOR: DET sends S. Dalembert, K. Singler and 2014 2nd Rounder (MIL) for M. Pietrus and A. Johnson
11/7 - DET/TOR: DET sends W. Bynum, V. Kravtsov for S. Telfair and A. Gray
11/7 - DET/HOU: DET sends M. Pietrus, A. Johnson & K. English for T. Honeycutt, 2013 1st Rounder (HOU)
11/7 - DET/TOR: DET sends A. Gray, T. Honeycutt, and 2013 1st Rounder (HOU) for J. Valanciunas and K. Singler and 2013 2nd Rounder (TOR)
---
A few of those trades above were the results of roles clashing or not working, or in one case me incorrectly assigning a role to someone without knowing which direction I was going. Also, the ending trades with Houston and Toronto I tried every way possible to A. Not give away Singler in the first place, and not taking Gray back. I took a few days between the few transactions out of frustration trying to work the cap.B. I wanted to do a three-teamer between Houston, Toronto, and I, but it wound up being easier just doing it in pieces.
I acquired only one player of a 75 rating, that being Ilyasova. I want realism, but my league is going to be completely altered after the first trade deadline anyways. The important thing was to make sure the CPU was taking comparable assets, to get players I would enjoy playing with, and to not attempt to "game the system" and constantly flip players until I got a super team.
I have started out the 12-13 campaign with a record of 2-5, headed into a rematch with the Thunder who just smoked me by 39 just three days prior. The Pistons schedule is very hard right out of the gates, opening at home with Houston, but then immediately departing on a 6 game road-trip with the Lakers, Nuggets, Thunder and Houston all on the trip -- 5 games in 7 nights. The team just has not performed against superior talent, and I've got to focus on being more competitive now that my roles are set and my team should start to gel.
Thanks for reading, and I'll be updating (but in a lot shorter form) from here on out!I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

UTAH JAZZ ASSOCIATION PART 10: **** YOU 2K!!!
(game update #2)
THE FACTS
Spoiler
The Jazz open up the season against a team led by their old franchise star. Jazz were matched up against the Nets, and for a majority of the game, they led by around 7 points. The 4th quarter came around, and the Nets started coming back into it. It was 95-95 with 10 seconds left, and D.J. Augustin had the ball. He started to get double teamed. Wilson Chandler is left open near the basket, and he has a solid pass to Chandler. Chandler then sinks the shot and the Jazz win the game. THAT IS WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. Deron Williams moves his hand up faster than normal and deflects the pass. That's all fine and dandy right? Jazz ball, either score or win in overtime. THAT IS WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED DID NOT HAPPEN. No, the ball hits the very corner of the rim, and it lands near Wilson Chandler. Chandler decides that instead of picking up the basketball, he will just walk through it and pretend it isn't even there. Deron Williams gets the ball to a cherry-picking Gerald Wallace. Wallace ignores the contact and goes through the defense. Nets win, 97-95, in a game that had me shocked. As 2K screwed me out of that one.
FINAL SCORE
Nets: 97
Jazz: 95
TEAM STATS
Spoiler
The Jazz were lucky to even remain competitive, as they were out-rebounded 43-30. The Jazz however had bench production in this game, and made a scorching 10-21 3PT Attempts. As shocking and irritating as this loss is, I'm excited for this squad, as it is crazy-deep. The Jazz bench this game had 49 points, and there was a total of 6 blocks for the Jazz team this game.
BROOKLYN PLAYER GRADES
Spoiler
STARTING PG: Deron Williams (17 pts, 12 asts, 5-14 FG)
Deron Williams had a solid game tonight. Besides lack-luster shooting, he limited his turnovers, and distributed the ball efficiently. He also helped the Nets win the game by picking up a ball that Wilson Chandler could not.
GRADE: B+
STARTING SG: Joe Johnson (17 pts, 2 stls, 7-17 FG)
Joe Johnson had a solid night, as the Nets starters carried their team to the victory. Johnson contained Burks and his defense stopped one of the Jazz's key players. GRADE: A
STARTING SF: Gerald Wallace (17 pts, 2 stls, 1 blk)
There really isn't much more to say here. The Nets starters all produced tonight, and none of them had an off-game. Wallace matched up well with Chandler, but did not shut him down like Johnson shut down Burks. GRADE: B
STARTING PF: Kris Humphries (10 pts, 14 rebs, 1 blk)
Humphries can be pointed as the key reason why the Jazz lost the battle of the boards. Humphries snagged offensive rebound after offensive rebound. He limited Favors to only 3 rebounds for the night as well. GRADE: A
STARTING C: Brook Lopez (16 pts, 8 rebs, 8-11 FG)
Lopez had more of a quiet, yet efficient game for the Nets. He shot high percentage shots, and grabbed a decent amount of points and rebounds for the team. GRADE: B
SIXTH MAN: Marshon Brooks (12 pts, 3 rebs, 5-6 FG)
A little more than half the bench points came from Brooks alone. He could've kept shooting, as he wouldn't miss for the night. He did not defend very well however, and several of the Jazz players had efficient nights on him as well. GRADE: C+
BENCH:
R. Evans: (4 pts, 3 reb, 1 stl)
T. Taylor: (2 pts, 2 reb, 1-4 FG)
C.J. Watson: (2 pts)
E. Fernandez: (2 rebs)
M. Teletovic: (1 reb)
T. Shengelia: (1 reb, 1 to)
The Nets bench should really be grateful that the starters all showed up tonight, as their play is one of the major reasons the Jazz led for most of the game. The Nets bench all played terrible basketball, Reggie Evans only played mediocre. GRADE: D-
UTAH PLAYER GRADES
Spoiler
STARTING PG: E'Twaun Moore (10 pts, 5 asts, 2 to)
Moore had an okay debut for the Jazz. It has to be pointed out that he is receiving sixth man minutes, so he did not have more time to improve his stats. He drove to the basket, created shots, shot from mid to long range, and his defense on Deron Williams wasn't shabby. GRADE: B
STARTING SG: Alec Burks (3 pts, 4 asts, 1-7 FG)
Alec Burks had just a terrible night for Utah. Johnson seemed to have his number at all times, and Burks did not play at all in the 4th quarter, with Demarre Carroll and Delfino playing instead. GRADE: D-
STARTING SF: Wilson Chandler (14 pts, 4 rebs, 2 blks)
Last season, Chandler would have had to carry this team to even be close. This is one of the major benefits of this season. He had a decent game and played alright defense on Gerald Wallace. GRADE: B
STARTING PF: Derrick Favors (10 pts, 3 rebs, 1 blk)
Derrick Favors could not rebound at all tonight. Humphries was the superior rebounder, and rebounding is one of the things this Jazz team desperately needs. Favors had solid defense, but was just outplayed. GRADE: C-
STARTING C: Andre Drummond (9 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stls)
Drummond had an average debut for the Jazz. He didn't really do anything wrong, but he disappeared a lot more than he should have. GRADE: C
SIXTH MAN: D.J. Augustin (9 pts, 6 asts)
Augustin had a "meh" game tonight. He and Moore both contributed solidly together, having 19 points and 11 assists between them, but Augustin was just a little less versatile than Moore tonight. GRADE: B-
BENCH:
C. Maggette: (10 pts, 1 stl, 2-2 3PT)
C. Delfino: (10 pts, 3 rebs, 1 stl)
D. Carroll: (7 pts, 3 asts, 1 blk)
E. Udoh: (6 rebs, 2 stls, 2 blks)
E. Kanter: (5 pts, 1 reb, 2-5 FG)
A. Nicholson: (2 pts, 2 reb, 1-3 FG)
The bench simply dominated tonight. Kanter and Nicholson had quiet games, but Carroll and Udoh decided to be stat-sheet stuffers tonight. Maggette and Delfino, two veterans mainly signed to mentor the young players also scored efficiently tonight. It's sad both teams couldn't be winners tonight, as they both deserved it. GRADE: A
Next update at the end of the month or if another awesome game comes.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
2014 Offseason: Washington Wizards
Okay, so I just started the 2014 offseason with the Washington Wizards. Haven't even done the lottery yet. My first season, I was 8th seed in the East and got swept by the Heat. My second season, I was 7th seed in the East and lost to Philly in six games.
My current roster is:
PG: John Wall (88), Ian Miller (63)
SG: Bradley Beal (85), John Jenkins (66)
SF: Andre Iguodala (89), Hedo Turkoglu (68), Kris Joseph (65)
PF: Josh Smith (89), Trevor Booker (73)
C: Cody Zeller (78), Steven Adams (66)
I signed Iggy out of FA and acquired Josh Smith in a trade deadline deal of season 1.
Bradley Beal, John Jenkins and Ian Miller all have team options, and I'll probably pick up Beal and Miller's, but decline Jenkins's. Trevor Booker's contract is expired and he will test FA.
I have the #1 pick in the lottery (could end up being lower; acquired in trade deadline deal involving Raptors, Magic, Nenè, Hedo, Cartier Martin) and a mid-first round pick (I went 47-35).
I want to shake my team up a bit, so I have some questions:
1. Are there any trades you might recommend? The only untouchables on my team are John Wall and Josh Smith, though I would have to be blown away by an offer to trade Beal (he progressed 5 points this off-season!), and Iggy wouldn't go for cheap either.
2. What should I do in the draft? Should I go Wiggins/Parker? Trade down? What about the other pick? (vtcrb's 2014 class, with minor tweaks by me)
3. What should I do in FA? The following upcoming FA strike my fancy:
- Evan Turner
- Spencer Hawes
- Zach Randolph
- Al-Farouq Aminu
- Derrick Favors
- Kris Humphries
- Lance Stephenson
- Greg Monroe
- Marcin Gortat
- Andrei Kirilenko
I really wanna make a push for Greg Monroe, but I only have about $10M in cap, so I may need to move Iggy to free up the cap space. May have to settle for someone like Gortat.
Besides adding a solid big man, I want to add another scorer to my bench and just strengthen it altogether.
So, suggestions?
UPDATE: After the lottery, I have the #3 and #22 picks in the draft.
UPDATE 2: Wizards Head Coach Randy Wittman and Assistant Coach Sam Cassell have been fired. Washington has hired HC Larry Drew and AC Darrel Caffey to two-year deals.
UPDATE 3: Washington has accepted the options for Bradley Beal and Ian Miller, and declined the option for John Jenkins. The Wizards chose not to extend a qualifying offer to Trevor Booker.
UPDATE 4: In a move that cleared over $11M in cap, Washington has traded SF Andre Iguodala (89) and the 22nd pick in the draft to San Antonio for SG Danny Green (76), the 16th pick in the draft, and their 2015 first round pick. The Wizards add firepower to their bench, and if Green disappoints, his contract expires at the end of the season. This also allowed Washington to move up 6 spots in the draft and pick up an extra pick for the future.
UPDATE 5: The Wizards have traded SF Kris Joseph (67) to Dallas for PF Trevor Mbakwe (65). This trade cleared just over $1M in cap space, and Joseph never really saw any PT. Plus, I like Mbakwe's game.Last edited by miz468; 03-01-2013, 01:09 AM.NBA 2K17 SimWorld MyLEAGUE: So Much Drama in the DMV - A Baltimore Bullets Expansion MyLEAGUE

Gortat would obviously be a nice second option. I would like to add Iggy myself, but I don't want to give up any of my three core guys (Knight, Monroe, and Drummond.)I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
You need to focus on getting a decent back-up SG and PF, not sure who you are focusing on acquiring, but if Booker and Jenkins won't be around next season, you could try and trade an SF along with one of them to acquire a decent back-up at either position.
Favors, Humphries or Stephenson would be good to add some depth to positions, if you can get them coming off the bench.Last edited by Clusterfudge; 03-01-2013, 12:37 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
I made another small trade and it's just about draft time. Since my last post is stuck on the previous page, here's all my offseason updates:
UPDATE: After the lottery, I have the #3 and #22 picks in the draft.
UPDATE 2: Wizards Head Coach Randy Wittman and Assistant Coach Sam Cassell have been fired. Washington has hired HC Larry Drew and AC Darrel Caffey to two-year deals.

I have the 3rd and 16th picks.
NBA Draft Update: The Memphis Grizzlies took SG Aaron Harrison from UK at #1 and Dallas took SG Mario Hezonja out of Croatia at #2 (lol), so Washington selected SF Andrew Wiggins out of FSU at #3! Rounding out the top five picks were PG Andrew Harrison going to Detroit and Sacramento took Jabari Parker.
With the 16th pick, Washington selected PF Julius Randle out of Kansas. The Wizards did not have a 2nd round pick.
Free Agency Update: The Wizards have signed Greg Monroe to a 3-year, $47.03M deal with a player option for a 4th year. Bolstering their bench, Washington also used their MLE to add SG Jordan Crawford, signing him to a 1-year deal worth $5.35M, with a player option for a second year.Last edited by miz468; 03-01-2013, 01:39 AM.NBA 2K17 SimWorld MyLEAGUE: So Much Drama in the DMV - A Baltimore Bullets Expansion MyLEAGUE

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Just had my craziest Association game ever.
It was a Celtics (me) vs Nets game.
Throughout the entire game it was close. When we went on a run, the Nets would go on a run of their own and vice versa. So down the stretch, down by 3, Paul Pierce ran off a screen and drained the game-tying three. Afterwards, back and forth baskets were made by both teams until the 30s or so. With the game tied, the Nets turned the ball over and Jason Terry dunked it to give us the lead. The shot clock was turned off and the Nets had one chance to either tie it or win it. KG came up with a clutch interception but somehow Kris Humphries got the ball and pulled a mid range jumper in front of KG and sent the game to OT. In OT, KG scored 6 points, including a clutch bucket to give us a 4point lead with about 30s to go. Somehow, in the next possession, Gerald Wallace was open and drained a 3pointer. Jason Terry was fouled and made both free throws to give us a 3point lead. The Nets have no time-outs left with about 9s to go. As I was running full court press, Rondo (I wasn't controlling him on D at that time) STOLE the ball from Williams and the game is over, 103-100. Man that was crazy.Comment
