Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Hey guys, just started a washington Wizards offline association and decided to make two trades. The first trade was with the grizziles for zach randolph and the second with the pacers for danny granger.
Grizzles acquire: A 2014 1st, and Emeka Okafor
Wizards acquire: Zach Randolph
This trade made pretty good sense for both sides. Okafor is a far better interior defender than Randolph which will be important considering teams like the lakers and thunder are in their conference while also being a pretty good rebounder. Not to mention that Okafor is coming in at a much cheaper cost than randolphs 2 yr./ 50 mil contract. The wizards get a 20 and 10 guy whose name can put fans in the seats.
Pacers acquire: Trevor ariza, Nene, Martell webster, and a pg
Wizards acquire: Danny Granger, and Ian Mahinmi
I would say the pacers came out on top of this trade trevor ariza while not the scorer Granger is; is a far better defender which will be needed to guard SF's like Lebron, Nene is a great big man, and they get a decent shooter in webster. Wizards on the other hand acquire a great player who can shoot the ball albeit he is declining and a center who can be pretty decent at times.
Wizards starting lineup:
PG: John Wall
SG: Jordan Crawford
SF: Danny Granger
PF: Zach Randolph
C: Kelvin Seraphin ( who has really come on)

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
It's the number of trades you did that was unrealistic no GM would ever trade the entire roster away in one offseason.

I can agree with that but i wasn't aiming for that just wanted to make trades that kept contenders in tact and made everybody a better team just didn't want cheese trades but i see where your coming from.......and not to this extent but dallas mavericks, houston rockets when acquiring draft picks, boston celtics when they aquired big 3 also blew up the rosters over the summer through a series of trades and cutsComment

the trade to the grizzlies make no sense your draft pick would be mid round by 2014 and emeka gives the grizzlies no upgrade and if they wanted to get rid of randolph they would take a expiring contract and develop mareese speights
the pacers trade doesn't make sense because maybe they would do ariza for granger since he has a expiring deal so they could move paul george to the small forward and give him more minutes but they already have david west no way they would take nene nobody would touch his contract he is untradeable
thats only if your not trying to cheese trade the cpu but if thats not your focus then good trades you upgrade in 2 spotsComment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
You are right that some teams did blow up thier roster. However, the ones that did it to contend still kept thier leaders on the roster. Boston didn't get rid of paul Pierce when it acquired KG and ray allen. The ones that blow up the roster to tank will only go for younger players with potential not get any aging guys with big contracts. The problem is the team you constructed is good enough to go to the playoffs in the east but not to win you also traded away D3 for chris paul with no improvement due to the fact that they are both all stars, not to mention Andrew boguts injury history.

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
It happened to me too! I traded up to the 9th spot to get him and couldn't believe my luck. Same draft class and everything ... weird stuff.
But Noel looks to be a beast. I was the Magic, drafted Muhammad #1 overall and traded back up into the top 10 as I watched Noel not get taken. Muhammad and Noel will be my building blocks of the future ... both are really raw, but the potential is huge. Majorly excited.Comment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Yea good points and i see where your coming from my goal though was to only build a team that fits the way i want to play since i do hall of fame simulation while making sure to add pieces only doing realistic trades which i think i accomplished without taking away another teams core parts so i can see where i came across as confusing my intention was to blow up the nets through trades since i can't sign free agents and know nobody would take joe johnson's contract i only moved real trade pieces that made senseComment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
i figured this roster is only good enough to maybe get me to the 2nd round i hope by year 3 i can compete for a championship when bogut's contracts come off the books interested to see what wade, lebron, carmelo, and bosh do on their player option years hoping to maybe snag on of themComment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
Remember the CPU has only recent history to go off of and this history says that thier is a high likely hood the wizards would be picking in the lottery rounds yet again. emeka gives the grizlies no offensive upgrade but gives them a massive defensive one which will be important come playoff time with the lakers, spurs, and OKC sporting great inside guys. In terms of contract 2 yrs/28mil is heck of alot better than 2 yrs/50mil
Ariza gives the pacers something granger doesn't which is defense. The pacers are a defensive minded team and the road to the finals goes through miami who would you rather have defending him ariza or granger? Also why move Paul George to the SF position when he can do fine at the SG which he plays currently a little offense for alot more defense sounds like a good tradeoff. NENE can man both the PF and the C positions which they will need considering they gave me granger and thier backup C. The pacers in this game retooled rather than rebuilt their team to try and match up against the heat the same as I did.

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
It's possible but in this game stars don't really change teams in once the player options come up.

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
the only problem with the grizzlies trade is they would lose too much on offense which they couldn't afford since they are weak their already if you gave them a shooting guard improvement i could see them making that trade since gay and randolph don't seem to be able to play together. losing randolph would make them one of the worst offensive teams in the league which is why they can't afford to drop randolph without help on that side of the ball
The only problem with the pacers trade is they want to clear some cap space to sign paul george so would they take ariza i couldn't definitely see that the problem is them also taking nene honestly i can say no team in the nba would take his contract without dumping an equally bad oneComment

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
The girzz aren't strong offensively anyway nor is that their team ID. they are a defensive rebounding squad. Which is Z-BO's weakness. Also remember that a possible lottery draft pick was also given to the grizz. Mixed in with cap room worth close to a 30 million dollar difference in between the contracts that could buy you some pretty decent FA help in the offseason again a retooling not a rebuilding.
No one knows how much PAul george will resign for so that can't be a factor in whether you tinker with your team to reach a champsionship. They get a massive upgrade defensively with NENE and Ariza at the cost of a little offense. Again in the East it's all about beating the Heat and in order to do that you better have a stout defense because you are not outscoring them in this game or real life. A bad contract is worth a championship just ask the miami heat when shaq helped them get one.

Re: Official NBA2K13 Association Thread
if it turns out to be a lottery pick then yea also if that put them under the cap then yea i could see them making that trade to sign somebody in the offseason so i can see that trade
still can't see the pacers trade because of nene you could do ariza and something else straight up for granger in real life i believe but with david west, the signing of mahimi, and they have hibbert and hansborough they would ride with that production before they brought in nene's contractComment
