Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
There's a few "premium shirts" that cost 5,000 gold coins, and I saw my rookie contract was worth around 576 a year. You also earn coins for actions on the court (which is essentially like giving an NBA player a nickel for every shot, assist, or rebound) which makes it that much more silly.I was going to try to hold off starting my MyCareer until the first roster update came out, but I'm thinking I may have to go give this all a try myself so I can really see how all this VC stuff works. Do you really only get 500 VC? Your entire year's salary can be erased the minute you choose to buy a plain long sleeve tee?
You'd have to ball out at an ungodly level for like 2 and a half years to buy a premium shirt...or spend real money on MS points, and then buy VC coins.
Edit: Wow...I'm looking at "plain tops" right now for 1,750 coins. "Bottoms" for 4,000 coins. I don't have that save file for my original guy making 576 coins, so I have to play the Showcase game and get drafted again to see what it costs to upgrade skills, signatures, etc.
I deleted that file and started one offline to see the "switch" that someone talked about in the Q&A thread....that's when I saw the travesty that was teams paying you in skill points. Something even less in the realm of "making any sort of sense" than gold coins.Comment

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
So my guy is set to make 38 coins every 14 days, but I would also earn coins by doing drills and playing in games...and I would have to use those very same coins to buy both accessories or upgrade my attributes...because you don't get enough to do both.
I saw a thread where some people were planning to play online games and such to earn VC before they start their MY Career modes...if that's what 2K was shooting for, more power to them...but this isn't even close the experience I was looking for. That's partly my fault for jumping right in without reading up on everything the game has and doesn't have to offer; but this has also got to be partly 2K's fault as well.
At least give me the option to have it play out like last year man....damn....
I was hyped for this game too.Comment

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
Yea...it just absolutely annihilates the immersion factor for me. It's like a sore thumb sticking out. They're doing everything else to try to re-create the NBA world in the game, then they hit you with the coin currency..and it's everywhere.
I didn't know it was this extensive. It probably would be next to impossible to add an option for regular contracts. They would have to also include upgrades by way of skill points..
This is my fault for buying sight unseen.Comment

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
Don't like the VC coin system, I'm saving up all my coins so when I start MyPlayer I'll actually have money to spend on attributes and stuff.
My friend told me his salary was 500 VC and he was drafted outside of lottery. I tried real hard to get into top 3 so I can get more money and I get drafted 4th overall and my salary was 500 VC
That makes no sense to me, and then you have to pay for your accessories and stuff..2k should remove a zero from the things in the store.Comment

Or just have given us an option for the old system. I don't care about the price of things, it was just an unnecessary change when we JUST finally got real contracts in the mode, and now they've been obliterated and turned in VC contracts....that we actually negotiate?Don't like the VC coin system, I'm saving up all my coins so when I start MyPlayer I'll actually have money to spend on attributes and stuff.

How was it that having no contracts in the mode was egregious, but this is ok? It's just as unrealistic as no contracts at all....except it did away with separate skill points, and it's just one universal currency for attributes, sig skills, accessories, popularity boosting events, Blacktop stuff, suits, everything.
It just doesn't fit in MyCareer.Comment

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
I'm trying to figure all this MyCareer stuff out this year. Before, I thought it was about immersing oneself into the game and seeing if you could make a name for yourself in the real NBA. I'm very early in my 2K13 Career, but a lot of the realism seems to have hit the road. No more D-League, no Summer League and now I have to pay giant coins toward placing a wrist band on myself? And he isn't allowed to wear Nike's until he signs a contract with them? What is happening here?Don't like the VC coin system, I'm saving up all my coins so when I start MyPlayer I'll actually have money to spend on attributes and stuff.

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
yeah i felt the coin thing was a little cheesy for player contracts I was hoping it stuck with 2K12 where u actually got contracted with like 5mil a year or 20mil a year... it gave it a realistic feel to it... this coin **** make me feel like im playing wii
but the good part is you can get those coins by playing other parts out of you're career... Like I had a 12min association game and it gave me free coins. so I have a reason to play my assocation because i get points for other parts of the gameComment

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
I have laughed way harder than I should have at some of the post in this topic thank you guys for that
lol
But it does seem like 2K made perhaps a poor conversion for VC and purchasing clothes/skills/etc..Maybe they should have separated currency for skill building and XP..
I also didn't think about it till someone put it in perspective but 2 yrs of your rookie "salary" or coins doesn't cover some of the in-game shirts.....

Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?
-No Summer League
-No D-League
-Removed Player Contracts
-Paid in VC & negotiate contracts in VC
2k team you really, really, REALLY got some 'splainin to do. I don't know how in the world they thought this would go over fine with the millions of people who bought the game and believe in having realistic immersions.
Like I said in a previous thread this year is the last year of me buying NBA 2k on launch day after doing so for 2k5 to 2k13 & honestly they're making it easier for me to skip out next year with the stuff they're doing.Comment

I got a chance to sleep on it...and it's even crazier now than it was last night. I'm over the age of 21, I'm an avid NBA fan, I bought a game that's supposed to be trying to emulate the NBA as closely as it possibly can...and in the mode where people get to create an NBA player and play out his career they pay you in coins? COINS?!
How childish is this? Seriously, how did they think this would go over with young adult - adult demographic?
I would much rather them take out contracts altogether if the VC has to reign supreme in the game. Don't tell me I'm under contract with a team for x-numbers of years, just bring back the old system of "pick a team at the end of the year." Because CLEARLY real world mechanics is not what we're going for here.
I didn't even know that there was no D-league. Who did they make this mode for?
I guess Association is the way to go this year, but it's slightly more time consuming, and that's no good for me.
This is inexplicable.Comment
