I think 2K started off: how can we get the MyPlayer mode back online without people cheating and creating skill points as they wish. The decision of implementing a currency called VC which you can only get when you're online/connected to the internet makes sense and it does prevent people from cheating (I guess). And I think they went a little overboard at that point.
What they should DO and probably won't since they know it's a cash cow (look at EA, they are making tons of people buying cards and other stuff for Ultimate Team) is get rid of this currency for MyCareer.
Let VC exist for people buying players in MyTeam but get rid of it in MyCareer. There is no fun in getting (buying) a 90 overall rookie player, it's simply unrealistic and there is no fun at it.
The situation 2K now creates is this and it blows my mind: they don't want to see hacked players with a 99 overall. But allowing people to buy VC kinda does the same thing, only 2K gets money for it. Who is stupid now, right? 2K is getting paid for people willing to "hack" (I'll call it that, it's the same thing in the end, boosting your player). Amazing to say the least.
They definitely should bring back the monetary values of contract.
If you get drafted 1st you get 4.2 million, 5th 2.8 million, 10th 1.8 million, 20th 1.1 million, 30th 800k. But now they took the fun away in being the #1 in the draft, even when you're 15th you still get 500 VC (right?). That's ridiculous. Also paying for a sleeve which costs, what, 50-200 dollars IRL? Why should it take your whole salary from year 1?
2K never seizes to amaze me. They finally get the gameplay right after a horrible 2K12 but they take away so many good features that 2K13 leaves me feeling the same way. Ripped off.
