Re: Can we have real contracts patched into MyCareer?

I think 2K started off: how can we get the MyPlayer mode back online without people cheating and creating skill points as they wish. The decision of implementing a currency called VC which you can only get when you're online/connected to the internet makes sense and it does prevent people from cheating (I guess). And I think they went a little overboard at that point.

What they should DO and probably won't since they know it's a cash cow (look at EA, they are making tons of people buying cards and other stuff for Ultimate Team) is get rid of this currency for MyCareer.

Let VC exist for people buying players in MyTeam but get rid of it in MyCareer. There is no fun in getting (buying) a 90 overall rookie player, it's simply unrealistic and there is no fun at it.

The situation 2K now creates is this and it blows my mind: they don't want to see hacked players with a 99 overall. But allowing people to buy VC kinda does the same thing, only 2K gets money for it. Who is stupid now, right? 2K is getting paid for people willing to "hack" (I'll call it that, it's the same thing in the end, boosting your player). Amazing to say the least.

They definitely should bring back the monetary values of contract.
If you get drafted 1st you get 4.2 million, 5th 2.8 million, 10th 1.8 million, 20th 1.1 million, 30th 800k. But now they took the fun away in being the #1 in the draft, even when you're 15th you still get 500 VC (right?). That's ridiculous. Also paying for a sleeve which costs, what, 50-200 dollars IRL? Why should it take your whole salary from year 1?

2K never seizes to amaze me. They finally get the gameplay right after a horrible 2K12 but they take away so many good features that 2K13 leaves me feeling the same way. Ripped off.

I'm definitely feeling kinda cheated here, and that's saying something when it comes to NBA 2K. They already protected the save files with checksums, and it seems like the actual data is encrypted, or at the very least, changed from years past, so it makes modding much more difficult. That's all they owe the community.

VC seems like more of a money grab, disguised as a counter-measure to online cheating, than anything else. Like JasonMartin said, if you allow people to buy enough VC to max out from the jump, how is that diff from someone hex editing their guy? The only differences are the inability to mod height, and uncap your guy. But a 99 ovr going up against a 77, is still a 99 vs 77.

2K could easily have remedied the whole "oh man, I gotta go up against a 7' PG online" issue, by making that entire mode server side. Like an online dynasty or franchise. It's an online mode, correct? So what's it got to do with me? A person that has NEVER taken their My Player or MyCareer guy online.

I'm not an online player, I'm not 7 years old. I want a regular player career experience like we had last year, like we have in MLB: The Show, hell...like we have in Madden, even with it's bugs and issues.

2K really alienated those who are past the age of 15, and those who aren't just gonna say "well you know they want it to be a challenge....a grind...a hardship...etc." As if it wasn't a challenge to get better before. You know, the ones who could love a series, and respect the hell out of a development studio, and STILL say "what the **** is this?"

Coins? Virtual golden coins. I know the game is rated E, but damn....

It felt like my MyCareer dude was getting paid in chocolate coins wrapped in aluminum foil.

        What is this...I don't even..

How was it that having no contracts in the mode was egregious, but this is ok? It's just as unrealistic as no contracts at all....except it did away with separate skill points, and it's just one universal currency for attributes, sig skills, accessories, popularity boosting events, Blacktop stuff, suits, everything.

It just doesn't fit in MyCareer.
You know what? The could have just ADDED VC to our salaries in addition to real monetary amounts to help with immersion, and added VC costs to special events/camps. Problem solved.

Most of us would have overlooked the silly bag of coins bonus if we were also given immersive real life trappings.

I'm not even as mad about getting paid in coins...it's something I see once in a while and I can mostly ignore. It's the fact that we can't wear any shoe we want unless we have a deal with them that is annoying to me. Also how we can't get any accessory without buying them. These things are provided by teams to players for free, not something they have to buy. They should make us buy things for the blacktop guy or buy your suits, but anything on the court should be free like it always has. And we should have access to any shoe we want as well, these things annoy me.

You know what? That's a very good point. To be honest, I don't even care all that much about having to use VC to buy accessories, or the bloated cost of those accessories.

I would have been absolutely fine with the old system, with an allotment of VC added to each payday, and those coins were specifically for gear and ****. If I had to play out an entire season to earn enough VC to get a headband and a sleeve...I would have done that. But only if I had skill points to spend on getting better, and regular $ to spend on animations and signature skills.

People would have complained...but the complaints would have been "it takes too long to earn enough VC to get clothes and pre-game rituals." To which the answer would have been "develop some patience, or buy the VC."

But what if the complaint is "the single universal currency kind of annihilates the immersion...especially when you can earn it IN GAME, IN THE MODE, and there's no real alternative?"

I guess my answer is to not play the game, which I can live with, but that's bad business 2K.

VC currency is my biggest, and one of my only, complains about 2K13.

Isn't he complaining about real life details being missing from the game? I don't get your point.

If you consider regular contracts for MyCareer players a "real life every minute detail" then 2K12 had "real life every minute details" in it, but it was just inexplicably removed for a system that seems to be geared towards generating micro-transactions.
