I do agree that it can help you learn what to do when defending etc. but don't forget that the game plays in a totally different way in MyCareer/CAL vs a regular game. Even when you use default sliders the game is completely different.

Wow I have never used 1-3-1 in this game .

Holy **** it's so overly effective. My players recover lightening fast.

It's definitely effective but not overly. You have to know to to play through it. I use it and have no shame in it, but 99% of the time in my zone I'm playing on-ball and guarding the ball handler. It's most effective against stopping points in the paint.

The only thing you have to worry about playing the 1-3-1 is when guys bury themselves in the defense because all your defenders will collapse and leave guys open in the corner/baseline. In this case just put the help d slider lower.

Everyone says it's impossible to block dunks in this game. Or is it?

I'm starting to find success with these settings in online ranked games:

            Automatic Shot Contest: Manual
Defensive Assist Strength: 50 (I really don't what it does, so it could placebo)
            Double Team: EVERYONE to Never
            On-Ball Pressure: Tight (PG-SF), Sag Off (PF-C)
            Off-Ball Pressure: Tight (PG-SF), Saf Off (PF-C)

            Coaching Sliders: Default (Indiana Pacers)

You're right. It's a shame that I only played against the Mavs once in 200+ games .

I'm wondering how you guys set up your Coach settings and Individual Defensive Settings?

Hedge, Switch, No Head, all that... I'm not a Basketball guru, I just love the game, but, I'm not sure what all these settings do when combined with other things...

I've tried setting my Coach Profile up and max out the Defensive Pressure setting, but, that seems to lead to a ton of Fouls on my team and a bunch of Free Throws for the CPU...
                  Just from what I've experienced...

Hedging - I give guys like LeBron, Westbrook, Rose etc. a hard hedge, so my 2nd defender will come all the way out to take away the lane. Sometimes I'll set it to double to see if that makes any difference. Guys like Kobe, KD, Manu, etc. I'd give soft hedge (my 2nd defender only coming out halfway)...they drive too, but tend to pull up more than those other guys.

Screens - basically, you want to go over for a good shooter, and under if he isn't. I don't switch too often.

Also consider your on the fly defensive settings. For example...

If you pressure shooters, the D will automatically go over on screens and play a soft hedge, along with tight on ball/deny off ball.

For constant pressure it will go over screens and hard hedge. Tight on ball/deny off ball.

Lock down paint will go under screens, with no hedging. Not quite sure of the defensive pressure, but it looks like sag off to moderate outside the paint (on and off ball). Will double anyone who goes into the post.

                      1-3-1 zone is College bball

                      2-3 & 3-2 is NBA

2K need to take out the rest of the zones. The Mavs ran box and 1 when they won the championship only against the Heat 1/2 games, other than that it hasn't been ran often since the 90's by the Bulls and Sonics.

You got it mixed up, it's the other way around. You want to soft edge on Lebron, Westbrook, but hard edge on Ray Allen, KD etc.

Basically you allow space to average shooters/fast/good drivers but close out on great shooters.

I'm really at a loss with this...

Been researching the heck out of it and there doesn't (from what I've seen) seem to be a consensus...

Not sure if this has already been posted:

He seems to be more of an online vs. human player who always uses Zone D, so that needs to be taken into account, but it is interesting...

To hedge or NOT to hedge (or hard / soft / auto / etc)

Don't listen to anything this guy say and don't replicate anything he does. He's a cheeser that doesn't know anything about basketball.

                              Interesting!

Yeah, I only play Association versus CPU, so the stuff there didn't really seem to apply...

So do you mean soft edge on guys who MOSTLY drive the lane and hard edge on killer / spot up jump shooters?

What would you set up for Knicks?

JR Smith drives AND loves the 3

Melo is more of a jumpshot guy, but occasionally drives

Novak is a spot up guy

Chandler is a decent inside / mid range shooter, but doesn't shoot 3s?

White is a slasher, but doesn't play much

                                Kidd?

                                Etc.

I've been testing sliders / settings against them, so that's why I ask...

                                Thanks!
