    Re: Virtual Currency frustration

I love/hate the VC system. I think the idea and concept are better than the execution. I will be skipping myteam mode this year as its just a beta. I mean 10,000 and 20,000 for players that you then have to pay constantly.

The worst is that you only get very little VC for each game you play. they need to seriously increase the amount that you get per game. its cost so much to do anything.

Its just like a MMO, the more you play to better you get BUT if you want to progress faster whip out credit card. A lot of companies do this

I read on the MyTeam forum that you can get players in the booster packs but they're rare. Mb.

I'm not sure, I want to play this mode but it seems to me it's a mode that's best enjoyed later in the year when you've got a solid bank of VC. They should have locked the mode until the season starts so that costs make more sense. LeBron should cost 40,000 or so. Anyway, that's the last i'll talk about MyTeam.

The whole VC thing reeks of a money grab from 2K when they allowed you to pay for VC they opened up a can of worms. If you want to buy things like leopard print pants, give 'er but when you can get a huge advantage online with an extra $20, that's $hitty. 1 Funny thing is that it really undervalues their Dynasty Edition. Instead of forking over $40 more for a cheap bball, spend it on VC and win right away. Or the Dynasty edition should have come with and extra 10,000 VC.

They shouldn't have put 1 currency for the whole game. If I wanted to, i could just play my association for 3 months and bank my VC, then start a MyPlayer, make him a 88 overall after the draft. That's dumb.

But the funny thing is that they never said that you could buy VC before the game came out. We weren't told that this would be a microtransaction game.

@LD2K even said that in MyTeam you couldn't run a team of all stars because the cost of playing them would be way more than you could afford.

          Proven wrong.

they didn't have to say anything there in business to make money and they know people are desperate when it comes to 2k/myplayer.

TBH, im pissed that ive played every game...82...for two straight seasons, and am forced to yet again build my dude up from scratch. Personally, I don't mind forking over 5 bucks to get the guy I had when I was bounced out of the '12 MyPlayer playoffs..rocking all Cavs gear? Gimme that, lol.

Seems like since October 2nd, everyone has expensive clothes and all their attributes maxed out. I've been playing on MyPlayer Online to get more VC which is around 200 VC win or lose, if I'm not mistaken.

Problem is the folks who don't buy VC can't really compete with guys who have 6'11' centers who can shoot 3 pointers, have good handles, and overall just dominant.

People defending this are kind of stupid, honestly.

I don't understand how people don't get that paying for your player is cheap, no pun intended...cuz where I'm from $20 isn't cheap lol

I really just don't wanna play blacktop against anyone wearing jewelry or having a star rating..no one should be a star yet..that's just a red flag they bought their dude. When I see that I just avoid them and hope I don't get matched up again.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

Even funnier, cuz I played a lot of the people on the top of the Blacktop leaderboards..all bought players. Give me a break.

20$ for some people isn't that much if their making money like that.

But as for the VC system, I like it in theory and it all being connected but overpricing everything just completely ruins it.

Some people don't have the time to play through 5 or 6 quick games to build up like 3000 points which isn't even that much plus I wish they would ditch those stupid mario coins, I don't understand why they couldn't just use money

$20 is 2 hours of work at my job. Shouldn't have to spend 2 hours of my life to buy a player to compete with some kid who's mom probably bought it for him. Just sayin.

i admit, even though i hate the idea of the VC system, i have caved in and bought VC to simply buy accesories for myplayer.

my biggest gripe about it all though, is just how overpriced everything is!! 300VC for a headband is almost a years salary in mycareer! wtf!!

                            Re: Virtual Currency frustration

My issue with virtual currency is its departure from realism. There's been many MyPlayer improvements since its initial implementation in NBA 2K10. However, I feel the core idea of the MyPlayer mode is slowly drifting away.

At its infancy, it felt MyPlayer was all about what it'd be like if we were someone trying to make it in the National Basketball Association. We grind through the pre-draft combine, we're drafted, we warm up to the pros in summer league then we fight for a spot in training camp. From there, we might head down to the D-League before eventually breaking through and slowly developing into a star. Clearly, it was fantastical (the story was essentially "random person makes NBA, takes over") but it was grounded in a form of reality.

In 2K13, MyPlayers are no longer earning actual money, they're earning coins. Regardless of performance, they're not slipping to the 2nd round of the NBA Draft. Real leagues and camps have all been removed. And your MyPlayer, an official NBA competitor, is not allowed to wear accessories until he pays a princely fee for them. Nor is he allowed to wear name brand shoes.

To be honest, I'm still enjoying MyPlayer early on but there's a lot of portions that are downright bizarre. What a strange direction to take on a fantasy mode that at least once had a general base in realism (in terms of paying actual money and allowing players to wear a wristband without paying a fifth of their yearly salary for it).

The structure of having real contracts are taken out in exchange for VC, you negotiate your contract in VC, you get paid yearly in VC, in order to improve your player 2k decided that they'll implement a system where you essentially pay to get better. That's shameful and people need to stand up against it, if you as a consumer don't have a problem with what they're doing they will continue to do it.
Actually the real problem seems to be that VC isn't earned easily in the mode that many people actually want to earn it in and use it for. Playing a couple of games in exhibition and ending up with 600 VC to use in other modes is nice-- but when you're *actually* trying to earn it in MyCareer, it feels like grinding with the prices being as bad as they are.
