    Re: Virtual Currency frustration

does anyone know how virtual currency works? what actions give you VC, and how much do you get for certain actions? it would be nice if 2k could give us some idea of what different actions will earn you. I'm a bit confused, because i'm playing association, but I don't earn VC after finishing my association games...but I've played quick play exhibitions against the CPU and i earned VC from those. so does association just not earn you VC or what? would be nice to have this cleared up. i'm just getting inconsistent results from this thing.

anyone else out there playing association? are you earning VC from your association games?

I got 750 for playing a 12 minute quarter Association game.

You get 160 for playing 1v1 Blacktop (use Peja Stojavakovic and just shot 3s and the game is over in less than 3 mins)

You get 250 for playing quick games and 300 for playing online both on 5 mins.

I like the system. As a rookie you have to play your strengths. I am an athletic PG so my jumper is crap. If I'm wide open I shoot, but I look to drive and pass first. We are rookies drafted outside the top ten so we gotta build.

So it looks like were VC deprived in the mode that needs it most but playing another mode and you make good VC. That's not well thought out.

Ugh, that's my biggest displeasure with the system this year. This has already happened to me numerous times. Last year, if I was disconnected from XBox Live during a game, I knew my records would still record and I knew I could still manually save my profile after the game ended. This year, if I become disconnected during a game, I know all my effort is for naught. And that's a wreck.

My Live connection messes up all the time. So every game I play, if something special begins to happen, I'm going to be spending the remainder of the game praying my internet doesn't briefly falter, thus eliminating my ability to save my work. Why do I have to rely on online for my offline modes?!?!

At least you guys earn VC in MyPlayer. I just earn tiny amounts of Skill Points because the 2K Servers shut down at some point and I played a game of MyPlayer while they were shut down, so now I'm permanently in skill points for MyPlayer. Can't even really improve my player at all because I'm racking up VC in all the other modes and it doesn't carry over to MyPlayer.

Shouldn't it switch back to VC once your server reconnects?

That's how I thought it would work, but alas, that is not the case. I'm in VC mode for everything, but once I load MyPlayer, it switches to Skill Points, and then switches back to VC once I leave.

Saaame thing happened to me last night. It just doesn't convert back. Apparently this has been pretty common. I'm going to have to start a new mycareer and make sure not go into it if disconnected. What a buncha hooey.

Wow, I wont be playing MyPlayer until they patch, I'd be furious if it happen to me and I couldnt use my VC. Especially considering that I paid for some(not proud of it but 2k is so damn greedy with the VC you earn in game)

If you play you "online career" that collects vc offline it converts it to an "offline career" that collects skill points. I don't think you can convert it back. It asked me before i played offline and i declined.

My problem with vc is that its easier to get points outside of the mode you need them for. I can play exhibition games and get 260 coins a game on 5 mins with a win but if i play my player 12 mins i usually get only about 100. That's horrible.

And the fact that in order to match my team i have to buy a separate arm sleeve if i go to a different team? I have to pay 5000 for a pistons sleeve, which it'll take me 500 games to get, and if i get traded or sign with a new team I'll have to do it again? I'm playing my entire career for arm sleeves and headbands? Oh and that expensive arm sleeve gives me a three point boost, or i can just take that 5000 and max out my three point stats and some other stuff. Decisions, decisions. Oh yeah, and with my NBA pay check i can... buy socks maybe?

Just finished my fifth game and signed with Jordan so at least now i can trash these old beat up sneakers and where some good shoes.

With that being said, I HATE THE CURRENT VIRTUAL CURRENCY SYSTEM. I understand that it is supposed to be a type of reward system but how much of a reward is it to play MyTeam against people who spent real money buying LeBron, Steph Curry and Dwight. I understand this money is going to 2k so they are pleased but i feel like for a person who doesnt want to spend real money this game is impossibly hard. I really didnt want to come on here and rant, i enjoy reading the posts here and not really talking much but i just had to get these points off my chest...

MyPlayer store- I feel like EVERYTHING is severely over priced. The sweaters or longsleeve shirts are 5,000 VC.... You only get about 250VC per game so basically for one shirt you have to play about 20 games. I know its something extra but it would be nice to look good for less you know? And yes the plain tops are a lot cheaper but they have no design or anything, just a solid color, thats lame.

MyCareer- This might be the worst part. Now i am no god at this game. I think im like average, i was better last year. But uhhh, i am finding it VERY difficult to be good in myplayer, first i am not getting much minutes, because of that i cant complete milestones, no milestones, no extra VC. And payday comes around and i barely get any VC. You are forced to sign for 500VC over a year or 2. that is INCREDIBLE. 500VC wont move most of my stats up more than 3. How long will i be a bum bench warmer in this mode?

MyTeam- More of my frustration comes from losing to people who DID choose to spend money, right now my team is Rivers, Korver, MikeMiller, Novak, Radmanovic. With them starting and even worse guys on the bench i have made it up to the 6th seed AKA Lebron land. EVERYONE here has lebron and its hard to compete when he is a better center than my center and point than my point. I tried to get more players by buying gold packs but have YET to get a player, all i get is stadiums and jerseys.

NBA Blacktop- WHY exactly do we have to waste VC to play with some guys on the blacktop? i understand if it was legends, but really, Jrue holiday? Caron butler?

Again i love 2k but i dont want them to FORCE me to spend real money to fully enjoy their game, i feel like they beat EA and then turned in to them using us for micro-transactions. Anyone else have thoughts on this? im about to just give up on every mode except the association until i go through enough seasons that im loaded with VC...
                            Agree 100%

Even more with priced items versus the amount you make for a MyCareer game. I find it odd that you are rewarded more for a MyTeam or Association game.
                            Thanks,
                            SmokeyVol

What can you spend virtual currency on?

I don't play online, so online stuff(like my team) doesn't matter to me.

I have done a few tests, and it seems that you don't get VC if you use custom sliders. I could be wrong, but every game I've done with custom sliders I haven't gotten any VC.
