I posted the following observation prior in the Virtual Currency Frustration thread, but no one seemed to notice, so I'll post it again here.
The 2K series is now following the same business model as Farmville, Cafe World and every nickel and dime game you see on the mobile market. You have one save and all of your transactions are linked to that specific save.
You neglected to harvest those crops in Farmville? Tough; they went bad. Accidentally burned your cake in Cafe World after two days of waiting for it? Sucks to be you. This is the path they take because it's not possible to have multiple game saves on something that is BASED AROUND micro transactions. You can have VC linked to your main account, so if you buy sneakers with real money all of your MPs should have access to them, but you can't have the option to go back in time because microtransaction games don't function that way. Look at the crops/cake examples above.
Items that were free in previous games for your MP (Arm sleeves, finger tape, etc.) you're now being charged for. Remember when everyone reacted negatively to this statement from EA COO Peter Moore?
That's the path 2KSports has clearly taken with 2K13 and unless there's a HUGE backlash, to the point where it affects their profit, they won't be going back to the old system. I understand the economics of it, but it's a business model I don't support. It's a damn shame too. NBA 2K11 was a great game but the series has gone downhill since.
All good things come to an end...and that includes what games I choose to buy.
UPDATE: I took my copy back and the store refunded my money. As a customer, I'm very upset at how 2K has treated it consumer base and I won't support it any longer.
