Re: why not use the blueprint from 2k11?

Is there a PC mod that totally reconfigured 2K11 to be like 2K13? Updates, Brooklyn Nets, etc? I would jump on that in a heart beat!

Appealing to all the scrubs, and the general consumers. The "Core Players" can adjust and accept whatever crap they feed us, but to 2k, its always about the bottom line.. and thats quite ironic, seeing as that nba 2k11 was the most successful game they ever released, you would think they would build off of that....

Check out how easy it is to move, shake, and cross your opponent up in 2k11, and tell me you can do the same things in 2k12, or 13....yeah freakin right...HA HAAAAAAAAA(Chris Smoove auto-tune voice)

Being able to shake your opponent easier = better video game? You were being serious with that?

That video looks like a pick up game I would see between a bunch of scrubs in a rec center not at all like an NBA game, get outa here with that crap.

Re: why not use the blueprint from 2k11?

I appreciate this forum's input and thoughts, I will always trust them over IGN, Gamespot reviews any day. Games are expensive and before upgrading I like to know that I'm making a wise investment. 2k11 was a great game, but I know it had it had its faults as well (Poor running of the fastbreak, very stiff & slow postgame, just to name a few). I want to make the jump to 2k13 because I know it does have improvements, specifically like the two I mentioned above, but I want to know if those improvements out weigh the faults and 2k11 as a whole in order to pay the cost of upgrading.

Below are some of my concerns with 2k13:

        • CPU's lack of running plays, never slowing play down, constantly fast breaking, even if defense is back. Does a slow pace team play slow? (i.e. Brooklyn, New York)

        • Poor rebounders, rebounding over better rebounders, even with proper boxing out, unrealistic offensive rebounding

        • CPU forcing its way into the paint by slipping off defenders due to poor physics or lack of body contact. 2k11 seem to do a good job of not allowing this, maybe to a fault.

        • CPU subbing or rotation issues, is it any worse than 2k11 or about the same?

          1) Personally I have no problems with the CPU running plays. As I am sure you have seen some say put Run Plays at 0, some say 100. TBH I leave it at w/e the default for the team is and haven't had any problems (post patch). Vannwolfs PB are a must though, so you need to D/L a roster with those input already.

          2) Post Patch rebounding is fine, offline it can always be tweaked with slider adjustments if you don't like what you're seeing.

          3) The CPU will have its moments when they try to iso-spam into the paint, I have unsuccessfully tried to negate this, but it seems that its gonna happen sometimes, with the right rosters/sliders you won't have any issues really.

          4) CPU rotations are fine, I haven't seen any notable issues. I would put it on par with 11.

          Hope this helps.

            Thanks JasonWilliams55.

            A few additional question's...

Whats Vannwolfs PB, is it a playbook roster file, are default 2k playbooks really bad?

Also if have you ever tired default 2k rosters with modified sliders, is the spamming CPU still overkill?

The default PBs just have a ton of broken plays which disrupts game flow. The PBs are attached to the roster file, so if you can D/L a roster, make sure it has Vanns PB edits in it. Check the roster forum.

As for the default roster with modded sliders, check out my thread in the slider section, I made a slider set for Online Associations (default 2k rosters) and it plays really well, but its HoF setting though.

You can't tell any true 2k fan that 11 wasn't the best. I have discussed this with many if my friends and they all agree. 2k11 had a better real, better controls, better defense, and was a more enjoyable experience.

Your friends agree with you? That must mean its true! Come on man, I played 2k11 a couple weeks ago, a few days before I picked up 2k13. No way 2k11 is better than 2k13.

I'm still not sure what to do with my unopened sealed copy of 2k13 sitting at home. I dont know if its worth opening, or if I should stick with my updated rosters and 2k11, which I think is pretty solid.

I never bought 2k12 because I got the feeling it wasn't that good based off this forum. I was waiting to hear some really good positive reviews from this forum after the major patched was released for 2k13, but it seems that is still getting a lot of mixed reviews.

What should I do guys is 2k13 better than 2k11 even with its faults? I need help.
2k11 is better out of the box, but with the right tweaks (sliders, play books, etc.) 2k13 is the best basketball game ever made.

Funny, I think this was in the first full gameplay video we saw of 2K13 and most people thought it was cool. Now the "sim" consensus is that it's garbage lol? I remember someone posting that this move has been performed in a regular season game and All-Star game by Tracy McGrady if I'm not mistaken. Even if it hadn't it's still a cool misdirection move imo. Unfortunately some in the ultra-sim crowd won't accept certain things until they've seen it regularly on Sportscenter. Like certain Superman-type slams or 3-team trades. It's a videogame. Some of you are taking the Sim mentality way too literally imo. There are plenty of real life Wizards vs. Bobcats type games that aren't much fun to watch. I don't think those experiences always has to be an exact translation to a videogame.

Then again maybe this is another thing 2K11 was better at - "2K11's so Sim that there isn't a move in the game that hasn't been performed in a regular season game of 2011-2012" lol. Oh and the physics were perfect
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Sim gamers like to see REALISTIC gameplay, if its the spurs and bulls then we want a slow, grind it out game. If its the heat and clippers we want a fast, dunks, alleys kind of game.
