I played NBA2k since the first game came out on the Dreamcast. I've been a 2k diehard ever sense. In the past 5-6 years I have started to watch a lot more basketball. I try to catch ever Laker game and the occasional matchup that intrigues me. I have NBA League Pass so I can watch any game I want. I see basics of a basketball offense as screen, post, cut, spot up, iso, stuff like that. But words like single double, pinch post play, pin down is a lot more advanced to me. I do understand matchups, player’s strengths and weaknesses, teams style of play ect. I know where pretty much every NBA player went to college, what team they play for and what position they play. But some of the terminology you just used went over my head. When you explained some of them, it makes total sense. But when you say words like single double, I'm like .

I'm guessing that you played some kind of organized basketball in high school or college. What I'm trying to say is, a lot of people never had the privilege of playing organized basketball. So, what may come off as basic to you, may not be basic to other people. Most people just want to live out there dreams of playing professional basketball in the virtual 2k world. Yes playvision is a crutch and we all could learn to play without it. But most of us need that crutch. Especially to have any chance of beating someone like you.

<o</o<o</oI believe you're on my friends list. Anytime I see that you're online, you are mostly either playing 2k, on youtube, or on that NBA Gametime/League pass app. I believe you once said that you watch youtube clips of certain players or offenses, notice that they pulled off a certain move or play to score, then you jump on 2k and see if you can replicate it and master it in practice. That is some very advance sh!t. lol.

<o</oThat's probably one of the reasons why I haven't played you, because I know I need a lot more experience to complete with players of your stature. Plus the score would be something like 50-23 after the first half. And you said earlier in the forum that after you go on a run, and the other team makes one basket, that you will call a time out just to stop the other teams momentum. Playing you would definitely make me a better player. But beating someone by 30-40 points is not fun to me, so I don't believe it would be fun to you.

I didn't play organized basketball in HS or college. I'm 18 LOL I started watching basketball in Derrick Rose's rookie season.

I just took it upon myself to learn the game of basketball in depth feel me.

And I love blowing people out lmao it's funny as hell. I have no mercy when I play this game, because when dudes beat you they take their bragging rights and run with it. So I'm always looking to beat someone down lol, but I keep it respectable.

And yeah man I watch alot of basketball and really study what moves players do and do it in 2K. I like to play exactly how the player plays because every players plays different.

Edit:And yeaaa you are on my friends list just hit me up man I could work with you.

Lol. Hot damn, only 18. Kids today. With no real life basketball training whatsoever. That's crazy. I just figured because you knew all those basketball terms, that you had some kind of real life b-ball training.

Reminds me of when I use to destroy friends, and especially my uncles in Madden, live, and 2k back in the day. Sh!t was fun as hell. I guess as I got older I kind of developed sympathy for my opponent and can't stand beating someone by 30 or 40 pts. I start to let up after a big lead. I guess not you.

Iight. I try to get in a game against you sometime soon. Just don't expect a 12 minute quarter game or me too watch the free throw routines. Because, one, I don't know if my ego could take a 48 minute 50 point schlacking. Two, because, I now know you need free throw routines to make your adjustments and you foul on purpose. Imma definately gonna make sure you burn all you timeouts to make any changes. Lol. Since your the 2k prodigy and all, I'm gonna need some kind of advantage. Jk.

Allstar or Jason or EC... If you really want a beat down

            GT: d11king

Though I stopped playing online cause I couldn't find anyone who played like this. I joined a "sim" league and left cause the admin thought Melo taking 34 shots and no one else on the team took more than 8 was A-ok. Smh.

Well to be honest, I don't prefer to do that with Melo, but to each his own. I just like playing basketball win or lose.

i always took 'sim' as playing realistically and not cheesing...not watching freethrow routines and other stuff

the majority of ppl dont have time to play like you do

Depends on the shots tho. I'am sure Melo has done that quite a few times.

Re: My Problem With Sim Players

Surprised this thread is still going.

I've tried a ton of guys for my league, played a bunch in it and spent plenty of time in quick match and have learned what people think sim is.

Before I talk about that, I just want to say that most people will disagree with me and that's ok. The game is meant to be enjoyed first and foremost.

                        It's your game.

Just because I have my thoughts about this doesn't mean anything really, it is just an opinion.

So here goes, sim is the style of play many people use to lose with most of the time. When they get beat, it wasn't sim and they get mad at the other guy.

Most people have a problem first with losing more than anything.

That is why many leagues that are set up have all these rules and restrictions.

These rules and restrictions are in my view a crutch that prevents people from getting better.

And the biggest teacher is losing.

What happens then is that rather than admit they can get better, it's easier to blame the other guys style of play as the reason they lost.

Now that doesn't mean that aren't things people should and shouldn't do that are considered abusive.

                        There are.

But you shouldn't let them bother you.

You should focus on your game before you focus on your opponents style of play.

Because the truth is that the game rewards good basketball and you can play sim ball and win with it.

It's just that most people believe you can't because the bottom line is they aren't playing good enough basketball. They aren't taking good shots, they don't take care of the ball, they try and do things with the olayers they are using that they can't do.

So my only issue with some guys who play sim is that they don't believe enough in their style of play to prove its better by winning with it and refuse to play people.

Because they don't, that's one of the reasons there's such a lousy online experience. People do what they see beats them and most often what they see is abusive play.

Re: My Problem With Sim Players

                          Here's the deal:

What is considered sim and what is not has changed over the years because the game has changed. When I played 2k online for the first time in 2K9, the exploits of the game were unbearable. There was absolutely no defense in the paint. People would just turbo into the paint and lead pass through waves of defense. That is not realistic at all and it was a video game flaw that did not portray true basketball. This is why most sim league rules were created. Back then it was absolutely essential to have these rules.

Now the game has changed enough to the point where turboing and lead passing into the paint is not easy, however most sim leagues kept the rules because its what they've been used to for so many years. I've been heavily active in the sim community over the past 3 years and I can honestly say that most complaints now come from guys running offball screen plays all game. Like I said, the game has changed. In 2K10, people barely ran plays, now guys are arguing that their opponent sometimes runs too many plays(or the same type of play). So the fact of the matter is that most people don't want to lose and will find excuses when they do.

I've always been an NBA fan so since my earlier days playing 2K3 etc I've always tried to play how I saw teams play on TV. Therefore, I naturally gravitated towards sim leauges etc because as an NBA fan you want to emulate the NBA. A few years ago when the game had major flaws, I stayed away from using exploits etc because I knew the video game mechanic was simply broke. Now, I cannot say that there is one major mechanical flaw in the game. Today sim gameplay is more about mixing up your gameplay more than anything.
