They should play music during the games like IRL, like a quick 5 yo 10 second clip. Like in Milwaukee when Brandon Jennings hits a 3 or cross somebody up for a score they play Drakes "Started from thr bottom now we here"

You can do that with the custom music already in the game.

And I was just thinking. The key to a good soundtrack is a soundtrack that you want to stay in the menus to hear the songs for. I remember 2k11 before it got too annoying, Symphonies by Kid Cudi kept me in the menus sometimes. In 2k13, I'm rushing as fast as possible to the nearest game mode!

I thought '11 and '12 were about as good as it got. I liked this year's well enough, too, except for a couple tracks.

I don't really have anything specific; I just hope they'll choose tracks that don't need to be so heavily censored/edited. Or just use the instrumental versions if available. Listening to some tracks, especially "Mercy" and "Victory", became hilarious after a while.

It makes SO MUCH sense to put this song in the game, especially because of "Ballers, I put Numbers on the board", although the subject matter may not be all about basketball. But it would be ruined once they start censoring whole bars.

I swear 2k needs to learn how to properly censor songs instead of skipping whole verses or just using instrumentals. It is really frustrating

I can't honsetly favour songs where 80% of the lyrics consist of the word '*****'. Seriously, it's not a term of endearment for your bro. Pack it in.

I'd prefer a wider range of music to have instead of being saturated with tons of rap, hip hop etc - not all NBA fans like that stuff.

And please...no more Cold Play.

Yep, I'd like for 2K to move away from the 2K13 angle of including super duper popular songs we've all already heard 12,000 times. Even with my high reverence for "Shook Ones Pt. 2", I just couldn't stand going through an entire year of hearing it 5,000 more times beyond the 20,000 times I've already listened to it throughout my life.

And I agree I like a nice mix of music. Unfortunately, most of 2K13's mix seemed to be Jay-Z-inspired rap, a couple of over-the-top popular non-rap songs (Coldplay), and what felt like one or two truly unique artists. I actually don't have an issue with hip-hop on a soundtrack if its style varies and the music itself is somewhat new and/or unique.

I've very much enjoyed when 2K brought something fresh to the table in terms of their music because it in turn helped keep the game fresh. All songs likely run their course at some point during any given iteration of 2K, but that process is accelerated by an order of magnitude when those songs are already incredibly popular, aged and overplayed prior to their inclusion.

I don't know why they can't use some music from the EDM or IDM genres, they're pretty mainstream, especially EDM.

i want the return of 2k11 style soundtrack. mix of everything, with a lot of indie/underground songs we've never heard. 2k14 was WAY too mainstream. no more jay-z please.

this wont happen now that they are selling the soundtracks to the likes of jay-z and what not


but i'd like it to be like MLB the show where i can add my own music from my HDD and use my own playlits

They should just have a custom menu music option. It would be very easy to implement and I don't know anybody that would have a problem with it. In fact, it would solve an issue for 2K: no one would complain about the Jay-Z soundtrack anymore, because they could make their own soundtrack. Its a win-win situation.
