The other time, he saw my GT in the chat box and went "Lmfao it's the noob with the weird voice, you're freaking hilarious!" Of course that was a slap in the face since I wasn't LOOKING for comedy. Overall, I actually have a really bias hate towards Smoove that only Sim Leagues guys would understand.

And I also agree he's a reason for Online being so crappy, as well as the cheese community growing. If you remember, he used to be a borderline sim guy doing WWS videos, which MADE people want to play sim to be with him. When he stopped, he started abusing the CPU in MyCareer! Now all those 'subs' that wanted to play sim are cheese. It's becoming repetitive IMO seeing him cream the CPU in MyCareer or being average at MyTeam. He's done more Fifa in the past week than NBA 2K.

But, I'm stopping it there. I don't want this turning into a "I hate Smoove" thread. Back on Topic as of now.
Yeah I prefer his WWS vids, I'm just subscribed to him for the commentary and still watch his MyCareer vids even though I hate the mode. I never said that he was a reason for online being so crappy, that's just a result of the community's sales. There's no real need for him to berate 2K for their bad gameplay as he has connections with them. He doesn't really cheese against the CPU.

I've heard about people in the sim community not liking him.

Whaaaat? Over a half million subscribers to a channel where a guy just talks about playing a video game?! I respect what people choose to watch but I cannot get this phenomenon.

I mean, I guess I'd better understand if the videos were offering important tricks or tips (say, how to unlock a hidden legend player) or future game previews (aka 2K14 information) but I do not see why so many people would choose to watch a random person playing random video game basketball while saying random things when one could be playing their own mode. I'd even better understand if it was some legendary video game performer (comparable to the novelty of watching a Super Mario Bros. speed run). But it just seems like a guy playing video hoops, talking to himself, and profiting.

I certainly can't draw an issue with the video creator because he's found something that clearly appeals to many. It's the appeal itself that is just so boggling to me. What am I missing?

LOL, you could say the same about all the Youtube 'celebrities'. Most of them just do mindless stuff and people enjoy it.

Yeah, there's some truth there. And again, I definitely cannot hate on the guy for knowing what people apparently want. I just struggle to see why so many would want that. At least in the case of ridiculous videos of other YouTube celebrities, I can kind of understand how a lot of people might be naturally drawn to seeing what happens when someone tries to cannonball onto a sheet of ice or fascinated by someone dropping a basketball out of a helicopter into a hoop. But something as mundane as talking over routine and normal video game basketball play... it's a surprising draw. I could see a small niche for that type of thing, but I'd never guess it'd be as popular as it appears to be.

The "Let's Play" type of videos make sense to me as they are instructional. Some of that spill-over might be the case here. Some people might be saying "this guy knows how to play MyCareer because he has half a million subs.

Some companies (re Nintendo) are claiming copyright on these videos now and are taking the money from the authors. In the near future, 2k might claim copyright and take all his money.

Yeah, I had no idea gamers could earn money from 2K videos until a month or so ago. I was wondering why the 2K13 Highlights thread here was so bogged down and littered with folks begging for subscribers and posting the same "Watch me play MyTeam" videos this year. I'm always afraid to turn on YouTube monetization because I fear I'll accidentally monetize something that can't be and then have my user shut down.

I stopped watching him because I got sick of seeing the same thing over and over again.

But anyway, to me, the more annoying commentators (besides me) are guys like TheFlightMike and MoonlightSwami for 2K. Ever since the Sports CMM mess with FlightMike I can't STAND him and his voice, and Swami fits in more in baseball than NBA 2K. Guys I actually like that are rising or have already gotten up there are IKC's Association videos and Blackjack's Cavs Association. IKC was doing good on the MyCareer, but stat-padded, but the Association videos actually make me want to watch every video from him again. And Blackjack... he's a born storyteller. He doesn't need GTA or Saints Row to tell a story... he's got voice actors, branching ideas, and the perfect voice to keep you watching.

And to the OP, the first video I couldn't get past the first five seconds without being turned off. The second one is so much better, but you need to relax on your live comms. Try and have some fun, have some emotion, and being some energy. Oh, and don't bring TOO much energy... tried doing that for Online Association games and I got a headache listening back at it. Overall, you're improving, keep it up.

P.S. Get a HDPVR... Dazzles are NOT the standard anymore. They can actually set you back big time in the long run.
Thank you for your honest opinion! Constructive criticism like this is what I was looking for. I don't think this will be anything too serious, because I just make videos whenever I feel like it, but I will see. I understand the HDPVR will help a lot, but I don't have an HDTV :/

But I use to watch QJB , IPod , etc but eventually I stopped because it got boring watching these guys get triple doubles every game and a total of 55 points... I prefer to watch guys who play realistic and bring out the real life of their 2k player by using games like grand theft auto and that category.
And catchphrases like AAsist (from QJB) are super annoying but beats like smoove's alley-opp beat is pretty cool. Be sure to have a hdpvr or you won't get any views no matter how great your commentary is.
Oh, an important part is also having expression in your voice or else people would turn right away.
And to sum it up - be yourself or your comment feed will all say Chris Smoove wannabe and you ain't smoove baby. Haha
I hope I'm on the right subject, lol...
