Instead of teaching bball 101 2k chose to just lower the game to novice level. This wasn't needed. People will buy 2k just because its better than NBA live. Will sales really decrease just because the game requires people to play actual basketball to win games???

Re: Online Ranked Users: Do You Still Look At NBA 2K As A Sim Game?
I always bout 2k because of the realness of the sport, it really felt like basketball in every way which is why I transferred over from NBA Live.
I even bought the $100 Dynasty Edition and waited at the midnight release for this game and boy do I regret it now smh
This is the worst representation of NBA basketball I have ever seen in my life, the things I see on this game on a daily basis just amaze me an not in a good way.
I wish 2k would of at least let us know they were taking over the NBA Streetz franchise last year, at least then I wouldn't be so surprised at all the the dunk ons and 3 point shots I see every game.
Fatigue is still terrible, Paint defense has never been worse smh, rebounding is still not good.
The main thing that really ticks me off is that I actually take the time to learn the game and everything about it from the offense to the defense but yet I can play someone who just does spin layups or side to side 3 pointers and computer defense an they can compete and win 9 times out of ten smh. I play great onball defense and I defend the paint very well but 2k just doesn't care an will let the opponent score right over you.
If NBA Live can get the fundamentals of basketball right to where defense is respected and offense isn't NBA Jam like, then I'm buying that no questions asked. I don't care how the graphics look honestly i just want to play NBA Basketball without losing my mindComment

The side to side 3pt nonsense has been in since 2K11, and 2K have done nothing to rectify it. It's even worse now because you can't turn up the def AI to 100 and then just hold LT to just automatically defend (follow) the ball handler.Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment

Re: Online Ranked Users: Do You Still Look At NBA 2K As A Sim Game?
2k has too many automatic scoring ways as well.
There isn't any automatic scoring moves in the NBA
that lil running hook shot goes in every time with any player PG or center
up and unders work with anyone every time once again PG or center, even with good defense
You can tell this game is very scripted and pre determined
How are me and my opponent both attacking the paint but yet I get 4 free throw attempts and he gets 20 attempts ? Can anyone explain that ?
Now I play games not even knowing if my opponent is actually beating me or if 2k is simply handing him the gameComment

They can also suck you into a fouling animation against them. For ex: Kobe is on a fast break and your defender is trailing him, you don't even attempt to foul him or even contest the layup BUT YET the game will STILL suck you into an animation of you fouling him.
The alley-oops are scripted too. LOL a PG will throw a lob up to the ceiling and then 2 seconds later somebody will swoop in and catch right as its coming down to the rim.
The examples im giving are not even scratching the surface of the amount of scripted stuff in the game.Comment

And to the people who mentioned the side to side 3's...yeah thats the worst. They need to make the "shot off dribble" very difficult to succeed at when you're behind the arc.Comment

Don't even get me started on the fouls. I have no idea what a foul is in this game. You drive to the hoop and it look like your guy got clotheslined and there will be no call but in the very next trip a guy goes into an animation and somebody simply jumps and that whistle is blowing without a doubt.
Lol Just reading through this thread it seems as though the sim-heads are not exactly happy with all these cheese issues. The sad part is this game has the potential to be the greatest sim/strategy battle sports game ever (and it's still the best b-ball game I've ever played) but those shortcomings are holding it back. A few tweaks and we'd be happy I think."I BALL FOR REAL, YALL DUDES IS SAM BOWIE."

hopefully they will make a new thread saying " what do you think needs fixing on the defensive end" since they already trying to appeal to casual gamers with " what dunks you want to see"#SIMNATION

Re: Online Ranked Users: Do You Still Look At NBA 2K As A Sim Game?
Alley-oops, put backs, and-ones all run off scripts, if not all the time, a lot of the time. By "scripts" I mean they are triggered as much by the game situation -- score, time, star power, momentum -- as by the action, i.e. the positions and motion of the players on the floor.
Once you play enough you start to see the patterns -- guy is wide open under the hoop for a dunk, and the defender moves over at warp speed so that he can commit a foul.
Put-back dunks usually signal a momentum switch. Here's the pattern -- if you've been on the wrong side of a run, force a missed shot, then execute a play well and take an open shot. Your shot will miss, and for an instant, you're like "What the heck," but suddenly your teammate flies in from the corner to dunk it back in, and the crowd goes wild.
I call this year's game Timeout2k. The strategy around your timeouts is often more important than what you do in the actual game.Last edited by sreckless; 03-07-2013, 02:22 AM.Comment

I'd say "always" instead of often. While strategy around timeouts is important, it should never be the overriding factor that it is in 2k13.Comment

Re: Online Ranked Users: Do You Still Look At NBA 2K As A Sim Game?
Maybe 2k is the one that should take a year off and start from scratch cause this predetermined gameplay is becoming overwhelming for me now smh
I play players everyday that I could easily destroy but I can't because "2k" doesn't allow me, not my opponent but "2k"
My little brother who hasn't watched a NBA game a day in his life can pick up this game and compete with a sim player online.Comment
