Me and Jwill have talked about it. He hit me up last night to play but I wasn't on long. I'm definitely gonna do a league just not sure whether this gen or next?

They believe in getting to the hole, and getting up shots. Think denver nuggets 2013. You really have to focus to defend against coach and his boys.

Ya that doesn't bother me like it does others. I say stop it. People didn't like your style but I loved it! That's best part about a league IMO is 30 different users with 30 different styles. I'd hate to play 30 clones. But hopefully with the added focus on defense this year all offensive moves have a legit counter so it's more of a chess match. Just because I prefer a slow down style and half court sets doesn't mean I expect others to play same way. But I don't particularly care for ISO 1on1 play all game if thats what u mean by grimey! Lol

When I started forming a group, I tried everyone out to see what kind of players they were. Once I did that I explained three basic rules.

1. We play complete games regardless of the score. Incomplete games do not count.
2. We don't dictate how you play because its impossible to police.
3. Over time, your goal should be to clean your play up so you can beat people without them complaining which means you should evolve your game into a man to man on ball defense and run an offense.

It took a lot of work, and a lot of internal struggle on number one lol. But I firmly believe that you don't learn unless you lose and you if you quit at the first sign of trouble, you won't ever learn anything.

As far as play style goes, we can sock it to you, and we can out smart you in a lot of cases. I've preached high percentage shots which means open shots and shots in the paint.

I got some guys that can run an offense like crazy and guys that really know the game and some that probably cheese opponents behind my back.

My goal was to find people tougher than me that represented each team and was a true fan of it so I could get better and play a variety of teams. I've gotten better but so have they lol. It's pretty cool to play Toronto with a guy that lives there. To play the Wizards with a guy in the DC area. To play the Sixers with a guy from Philly. It makes it fun because those guys care about their teams and know the players and they live or die with the roster they have been given.

And so while it isn't completely sim, it's not cheese either lol.

That being said, we all find the group we work best with. And I have a different philosophy than many. I'm kind of sim and kind of not but while you find me bullying my way in the paint, you won't find me spin dunking, alley ooping or zoning you up or jacking up my settings to find a way to win.

So it's a balance probably somewhere between quick match and the hard core simmer.

But alabamarob probably has a true assessment of our group.

One other thing that I strive for is for guys that will be their team experts, do recaps and post pictures of their results like in this thread and basically be their home town reporter on their team. And also to share what they have learned instead of hiding it lol.

With that said, here's another recap from my series with Harter.

Hornets take game two in Indy, go up 2-0

INDIANAPOLIS The Harter led Hornets came into town and got to work right away. And while C2K took the hit and eventually took the lead, the Hornets made the plays down the stretch that got them the win and it was a tough as nails game like game 1.

Of all of the people I have played, Harter is one of the toughest competitors I've faced. Just about everyone I play is tough so it's not discredit to anyone I play to say that, and of course everyone wants to put it to C2K when they have the chance because it means something to say hey that Coach2K, he stinks lol.

The good news is that when I first started playing Harter, he used to kill me...lol. At least now, I'm in the game.

But anyway, he's got me in a hole now. I've got to New Orleans to face him down 2-0. So we will see what we can do.

I have to say Coach2k is my favorite guy to play on 2k. Win or lose I love how we play the game. No zones, no cheese just straight basketball each of us running an offense.


Game 2 was another great defensive battle between Coach and I. The score was a little higher, but I enjoyed the defense that was being played. I managed to build a 5 point lead at halftime behind some good plays by Jrue. I could see Coach gaining momentum in the 3rd as he took a 1 point lead and I was letting Granger get too many good looks. I locked down on Granger and took him out the game. I was able to build I good 8 point lead or so during the 4th and managed to hang on for the win. We shot 45% the Pacers shot over 50% and we won the game. Holding on to the ball and making good passes are crucial. You can see the points I scored off Coach's turnovers was the difference in this game.


Great game Coach! We will be heading down to New Orleans for game 3 and won't relax as we look to take the commanding 3-0 lead. Expect another low scoring defensive battle.

Nah, coach and them boys pass the ball. Not to much iso. I was saying grimey in that its gonna be a physical game for all 48 min and none of the guys whine. Whining is not accepted.

The problem your guys had with me is they didn't watch enough nba games. They told me that I pushed the ball to much with Lawson and should run more plays for McGee. Ha ha. 360 players are a bit snobbish and set in the old sim rules of 2k.

And someone get Lopez off the hornets. Harter is getting the best of both worlds with holiday, Evans and Lopez. Ha

I didn't know you were the heat guy. I've seen you around on the forums, good to put a name to a gamer tag. Lol! I told Philly those were probably 2 of the most fun games I have EVER played on 2k in any version! They felt like real games with adjustments throughout! We did split. 1 thing i will say is You played with the heat the way they should be played with. That made it extremely fun and tough!

I think guys just didn't know how to adjust to your style. It's very easy to get in to an up and down game and get out of their game plan. It's like what the lakers show time teams of the 80's used to do to teams. The key against you is pick up pg early at half court to slow you down and force you to play my style rather than your style. That's just basketball with adjusting to a teams style. These young bucs don't get it! Lol

I know that when I played you the game wasn't a shoot out, and I didn't break 100 either game. Yeah, my whole game plan was to speed up the pace. Those guys would get frustrated about 5 minutes into the game, and start trying to play a fast pace. Once we got into a running match I knew it was over. I had people trying to pick up Ty lawson full court. SMH.

The biggest scam of most "sim" players is that they pressure/crowd all offensive players on the perimeter, and then get mad when they give up the drive. Nothing worse than having a PIP limit when the defender is playing that Gary Payton/ Mugsy Bouges defense. Basketball 101. Some dudes you press, and some you back up off of.

Exactly! Agree 100%... Ya i believe both games were in high 80's and low 90's. there was no shootout because i wasnt going to allow it! lol Although, there were times in a few games i got caught up in your pace and then had to regroup and refocus! lol! its easy to do. I would only pick you up at half court but in transition I'd go straight up and stop ball as early as I could. Once Ty Lawson got to deep it was 3 balls for galo all day!

PIP can't even really exist at all anymore. It's a dumb rule for guys who can't stop guys from getting in the paint.

You still getting ps4? What about xbox1? You eventually going to get both? I know I will but just 1 of them in year one. Cus all this talk makes me anxious to get 2k14 league going again and get my revenge! Lol

Sorry coach! Didn't mean to high jack the thread! I'm looking forward to seeing how your series play out. Again, great thread. I also want to say I think it's awesome you got a bunch of guys posting game recaps and videos, etc. that makes the experience so much fun! I made that a requirement in a madden league I ran back in 10 on league daddy. It was awesome! I really liked the 2k league site in 11 where you could upload plays straight to your league website. I hope that comes back...
