The game is so good.....I never purchased 2K12 or 2K13.....it's that good.

I have no plans on purchasing 2K14 either (current gen).

It's about as close to a perfect game of virtual console NBA Basketball I have ever played.

    And it's not even close.

I'll agree that a lot of the fond memory's have to do with balanced online play...BUT, to me the defensive experience in 2k11 was superior to 2k13 offline as well..even with the best of slider sets...

Right, like I said, I can't speak for online ranked players as I don't play online. When I mention 2K11's flaws and such, it was from the perspective of playing offline against the CPU.

I hear what you saying. It's a hard call for me too when it comes to offline defense in NBA 2K13, since all my human competition is strictly online. I'm pretty happy with the defense against the AI. It could be placebo, because the slider/roster downloads dedicate a lot of the "stats". Keeping it real, I rather get killed by the AI with an offense that somewhat resembles real basketball, then to feel helpless on defense against a human opponent that uses exploits.

I could go on for hours talking about what made 2K11 the greatest basketball game I've ever played. I'm 41, so I've played video games since the Atari days when the ball was a bouncing square.

After 2+ years of non-stop working on this game, I finally found the best set of sliders to use (the ones I've posted are not totally accurate to what I'm using).

The sim-factor... Defensive foot planting... Much more...

Not a perfect game, as the offensive rebounding really is frustrating, but with 20+ years of classic rosters I'll never have a need for another basketball game ever again. I could not get into 2k12 or 13 simply because the game felt like a skating rink. I believe that 2K11 was a revolutionary basketball game, taking 2K8 to another level of gameplay. Yeah, it doesn't take long for a game to become "outdated" with regard to graphics and presentation, but this game is a staple of my library that gets ENDLESS gameplay - and that's a rarity for video games. Just a great, great game...

I hear ya MK. I have a great set of sliders as well and have not stopped playing this amazing game.

After seeing and reading a ton on 2K14.....I will end up getting it (I am jonesing for an update)....but I am waiting till Black Friday. Grab it on the cheap. It really looks incredible and if the AI is truly up to snuff (like it is on 2K11) I will grab it. I am on PS3 and we never got as much classic roster output like you did on 360.

The videos I saw.....amazing how it looks. And I love hearing the updated commentary. Just a gorgeous looking game. I will of course have to relearn the controls...but that will be easy.

But 2K11 is just a classic. And I will always go back and play that.

Just reinstalled the PC version and played with a 2012-2013 mod, and I gotta say, this game plays very fluidity and is actually balanced for both sides on the ball. And I played on Pro-Sim, it felt like Superstar-Default in 2K13, but again, more fluid and more defensive minded. Little things like seeing Kyrie doing moves different from Lillard was refreshing. Online I played a bit back in the day with friends on the ol Xbox, and that was amazing (except for lag outs, hackers, etc.)

2K11-2K13: it got better for offline with each year with the sliders and mods, but Online got crappier with features being taken out, BUT I'll give props to them for at least TRYING to improve the servers and dialing down the hackers.

I bought 2K12, I bought 2K13 and gave each game a fair shot only to go back to 2K11 for so many reasons. Does the game have bounce passes? no. Are fast breaks limited? Yes. But it does SO many things right, including defense, presentation, and most importantly captures individuality of players and gives the user a chance to feel the flow of a game and make adjustments accordingly.

2K12, 2k13 felt like the same game to me...or at least too similar. I couldnt feel the difference between playing with Ty Lawson vs Isaiah Thomas other than the fact Thomas is left handed.

I don't buy the "Well, MJ is on the cover so thats why you like it." I was never a huge MJ fan, and I was hoping 2K12 would build on what 2K11 had...

2K11, in my opinion, is the best sports game I've ever played. This is coming from a former Seattle Supersonics fan - I don't have a team in the game.

The presentation was authentic. I'm not feeling the NBA 2k12-14 presentation.

I own both 2k11 and 2k12,2k11 is by far the superior game with better foot planting compared to skating, and no step through shooting animation( I hate that mess) also in 12 you could go inside for an aggressive move...like a dunk or strong layup, and the animation would turn into something like a pump layup.2k11 had players sweating and was less glitchy. The only reason I still and will probably hang on to nba12 is because of the large amount of historic teams and players.
