I want to know if the VC system will be the same as last year or if we can be competitive without buying VC.

When's the IGN review coming in? Last year's was astonishingly bad. The guy focused more on Beiber than the game.Comment

nope it needed to go. No more crutches for novices. Didnt need it in 2k9, 10 and 11. It was horribly overpowered and drastically cheesey if you set it to ALWAYS. Guys run at you with hands up and even if they werent close to you your shot % would drop. It encouraged lazy defense online and offline. Re: NBA 2K14 Reviews From Around the Web
I don't use reviews in any medium as a final judgment, whether it be music, movies, or games. However, sometimes a story can be told through aggregations. Themes about the product at hand can develop and perhaps provide a hint as to whether a given consumer may actually be interested in a product in the first place.
In years previous, I was able to learn enough about NBA 2K to buy in on the first day, confident I'd be satisfied. It's a different story this year, and without the ability to test the game firsthand, reviews (from outlets and users alike) may play a larger role for me this year.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Reviews From Around the Web
I think a lot of it has to do with how you play the game. I don't like flicking the stick around until I get lucky and get open. I like to play old school, just move my player around with timing and quickness. But for one, 2K has changed the game. Just quickly moving the stick and trying to catch your AI opponent off guard doesn't work. You HAVE to do the dribble moves which totally sucks. This isn't Mortal Kombat, but it plays like it.
Also, Player lock at different positions plays differently, and I swear they haven't been testing all positions because I've bumped into game breaking problems with the last couple of versions, issues that cause the game to be far more annoying than entertaining.
I have my wary hat on for 2K basketball games these days.Comment

Yea, they kind of threw Owen under the bus. He obviously has no idea what's going on with this game because he plays it once a year when he reviews it. I sort of felt bad for him. It's pretty clear he didn't feel comfortable doing this review."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Did Gamespot change their review format?
They were nothing but complementary, and gave the game 8.0...lolLast edited by The 24th Letter; 09-26-2013, 02:23 AM.Comment

Lol that was weird to me too, outside of a few minor gripes they gave the game a glowing review. But gamespot has always been weird with how they score reviews, IMO the content was more important than the number, but the review system is so flawed that sometimes people just look at the score and not the content of the review. Nothing bad with an 8, but for a lot of people 8 is a mediocre score.Comment

Also, watching the game reviewer talk about how people revered Vince Carter over Tim Duncan got me shaking my head lol. I was ready to dismiss the review just because of how misinformed the reviewer was.Comment

This why I don't care about these reviews. Most of the reviewers know nothing about basketball and gave 2K13 a bunch of high scores also.Comment
