Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Graphics wise, this game is amazing. Other than that, this could be one of the most mediocre 2k games.
In terms of mycareer, the mode forces you to post up ridiculous numbers each game in order for your team to win, due to the horrid AI that your team has. This problem grows worse as the difficulty increases. If you're playing on all star or above, then you must be sure to put up a 40 point triple double in order to be competitive.
I'm in the playoffs now with and it seems that sliders have taken a whole different direction against the knicks. Chandler nearly got a 20-20 while stoudemire has gotten 8 blocks the past two games. Meanwhile Tim Hardaway is taking more shots than Melo yet he's making them. Don't even ask about bargain because he magically has become a beast in the post.
I've managed to win the past two games in the series, but I had to score 60+ points just to remain competitive. I'm shooting 50%+ and limiting turnovers. But it's impossible to play team basketball when all your teammates do is stand around.
I'm trying not to bitch and whine, but mycareer can be a very frustrating mode when for those who want to play team ball as opposed to trying to dominate every possession.Comment

Does anyone have a problem with the "X to tell teammate to shoot" not working? I swear it never works for me. I've tried holding it and spamming it but the teammate never shoots it even if it's open. The easiest way to make them shoot is either to let the play clock run down or to give them an easy layup.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
I play on All-Star since I'm still getting used to the game and I still have trouble. I am probably going to move up to Superstar once my player gets more consistent. I do agree that sometimes the team ball is out of the question. I run plays probably 20% of the time but usually I end up taking the shot anyway. The other times I basically just run a pick and roll offense with motion until I see someone get open/make a cut to the basket. Kind of frustrating since the AI is absolutely horrid.

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
anybody have posterizer yet? I want to know if it's worth buying this year for my 6'10 athletic sf. My dunk is at 90, but whenever I charge at the whole and attempt to dunk, I just do a contact layup instead of even a dunk attempt.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
During the regular season, I was able to help my team win without putting up ridiculous statistics every night when I was playing on pro or all star simulation settings. On pro, your teammates will play almost like a real team and move the ball without you having to create all the time. All star, you might have to dominate ore often than not.
One thing about mycareer is that it can be frustrating if you're not a PG. Since most of bad ai your teammates have results in you having to create everything, then you'll need great pg like qualities to move the ball around the ball. I play athletic sg so the Passer rating is capped at 80, and it gets extremely difficult to create offense when you and your teammates are tired or its the 4th quarter.
Honestly, I fell in love with myplayer back in 2k11. But as I have become a hardcore simulation player, the lack of real team basketball kills it for me. This game mode was truly created for the casual fan who wants to feel like a souped up version of Michael Jordan every game.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
I know this probably has been answered, but why is your teammates AI so horrid compared to the opposing cpu team? Is it a programming issue where it's hard to predict the decisions of the user? Is this by design in order to make the mode fair?Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
My theory is they purposely left the player's team AI lacking, counting on the human factor to equalize the deficit. I think they went a little overboard though.Last edited by sops; 12-17-2013, 04:18 AM.Comment

Personally, i'd go with "all around". Basically your player will be (very) good at everything and most importantly speed and quickness are still pretty high.WetBeaverNeeded YouTube - blacktop/crew/myteam/association on ps3

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Hi All,
After 4 seasons as an athletic PF with 15 ppg and 11 rpg + 2.5 blocks, i wanna try a rebounder.
I would love to create a Rodman kind of PF, a great rebounder, just a great defender, and in taller than 2m01 of course. But something goes wrong:
I saw a classification of all the attributes capacity of every power forward types in 2k14.
As we can see, the athletic power forward look alot better than the rebounder.
He moves faster on the court, he jumps highter, he react quicker than the rebounder PF. The only superior thing with the rebounder is you can up to 92...in place of 90 for others. But you still under the athletic guy in verticality (-5) and reactivity (-10).
So my question is, why the Power Forward rebounder is called "rebounder". I played with it, and seriously it's too slow, and i dont feel any difference in terms of domination, even with a nice box out i don"t grab that much rebounds and often i just dont catch the ball, or in 2/3 situations the ennemy Center/PF is able to grab the rebound on me easily. And my guy is so slow, even with all the physical attributes on their maximum capacities. Slow in movement, slow in time of reaction. Finaly it's like 92/92 in rebounding VS 90/90 with a better jump capacity and a better time of reaction/ rapidity make you useless as rebounder.
Is there something special to do to become dominant with a PF?
thanksComment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
I'm very sorry for the double post, i can't find the edit option
To be more clear, my physical, defensives, and rebounding attributes are all full high (75/75, 65/65, 92/92, 90/90 in capacity to grab the ball properly, 92/92 in O.R.) and I've the talent "Great rebounder lvl 3" with the Two PF's .
they are kinda "Equals". So it's not a problem of progression.Comment

Always on HOF, my 6'6" 230lb all-around SG on UTA is leading the Jazz though the playoffs pretty smooth so far. We swept the Tony Parker-less SAS in the 1st round, beat OKC 4-2 on the 2nd round, and are currently up 3-0 vs. the Kevin Love-less T-Wolves on the WCF. Right now in the ECF MIA and CHI are going against each other. I'll try to finish off MIN when I get home later tonight.
Update: We won one more game vs. MIN. One more and we advance to the NBA finals.

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Is there any way to disable your player from having the ability to dunk?
My guy by default has 30 dunk rating and has 65 vertical with no dunk packages equipped and yet he still dunks?Comment
