I'm thinking I probably will buy it, just because of the fact I can't afford next gen and I only got 2k13 a couple of months ago (after buying 2k11 and 2k12 on release date) when it was really cheap, and I barely ended up playing it because my myplayer got screwed up. So most of it will be new for me.

Thank you to EVERYONE involved in NBA2k 14-- FUN
I posted this elsewhere -but fits here too
Pros:
• Teams Play True to Their Strengths– A.I. Much improved.
• Defensive in Post Huge Improvement
• Block Engine makes a measureable difference in the realism.
• Clark Kellogg can say “Physicality” an it’s the Truth. No boys in the paint.
• LeBron is a BEAST…..and he should be.
• Hibbert & Dwight in the paint on D– Beautiful
• Double Team the Greats or Get BEAT
• Help Defense is better
• Pick and Roll is better and is IN THE GAME
• 2k Smart Play
• Speed of players and the game seems right
• Spacing is better
• Pro Stick, Yes the Pro Stick
• They miss Open Shots-Yeah
Cons:
• Pro Stick, - Doh!- I keep pulling Left Trigger
• Need to tighten up players going out of bounds –still too often
• Spacing is better but not where it needs to be
• A.I. for Classic Teams: Not playing to Strengths like Current Teams
• Classic Teams stand around too much-(Current teams MOVE like they should)
• Rebounding & loose balls, Too much “Staring”- Get the Ball!
• Offensive and Defensive Awareness improved -Drastically- but still needs tuning- Need to React Quicker
• Need more baseline play
• The Game Play is a Drug—and I now have an Addiction.Comment

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
If you're not planning on getting next gen, I would recommend picking it up...The game feels much smoother than 2k13 for me and 60 bucks isn't really breaking the bank. I will probably get next gen when nba2k15 comes out.
I did notice some glitches when editing the draft classes. For example, There was a shooting guard, 6'4 217 lbs and he had the body of a 300 pounder. I tried decreasing the weight and such, but his body stayed the same and even put holes in the jersey on certain weights.Comment

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
I wanted to jump back in and say I have shifted views slightly.
Still won't go as far as saying MUST BUY, but I will say MUST TRY.
Watching videos of 2k14 vs 2k13 can make it appear that they a similar gameplay wise(especially if you have a good roster).
Playing NBA 2k14 v 2k13 is a pretty large jump IMO.
I will admit that a lot of the changes are subtle, but they do make a difference.
Also, do not let the Pro Stick discourage you, I had serious resevations after reading about it, but playing with it has made me a believer(although I still hit L2 way too often). When you work it right, I can't imagine a more intuitive way to play the game."You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
If you are planning on getting next gen console right away, then save your money and just get the next gen game. However, if you don't plan to get the next gen consoles for at least 3+ months, then I say get 2k14.Comment

By far the best game play from 2k this console generation.
Only cons so far
. Not being able to choose which hand to layup with.
. 2ks roster of course.

I am still waiting on my copy as it's our later in the UK.... But i am genuinely excited to get it..... Yeh I'm pissed off that association is not where it needs to be but I can see that gameplay wise it looks so much better than 13....and like the previous post it seems that all of the comments about it being the same game have not played it...
I will get it now then if I do take the plunge trade it in for ng... Question is which ng machine do I buy if I do.... I really can't decide... Always had xbox never owned a Ps

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
I'd say this, if you're planning on getting a Next Gen console right at launch then wait it out. No sense in dropping $65 for a game you probably won't touch once you get it on NG.
If you're going to hold off on NG for a while then it's definitely worth it. The game might look eerily similar from afar but when you get up close and personal with it, she's a whole new beauty.
Lots of improvements to the gameplay, passing is quicker, defense is legit, spacing is ages better, defensive rotations are smarter, the ball feels more live. I'm pretty impressed with the improvements.
On the down side, association and my career are pretty much the same deal as last year, graphically it's pretty much topped out although I notice clearer textures (I"m on the PC).
On the whole, the game feels quicker smoother and more fundamental.Comment

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
I don't know if anyone heard or not but if you get it now you can get it on next-gen for the same system (xbox to xbox one) for $10 more.
Another thing, this game is NOT "NBA 2K13.5", it is not a "patch", it is not "sliders". Stop following trends and get your own ideas and views on the matter.
The game feels different, because ask yourself, what do you do in the gameplay itself? You dribble, shoot, and play d; right? The dribbling is more refined, the shooting is so much smoother after dribbling, and defense is truly revamped, 100%.
Being able to really block shots adds a whole new dimension to the game.
Also, on offense, a lot more contact but in a good way. It feels like everyone actually has a body (Easiest way I can explain it lol). Playing down low as a big man really feels like you're battling for position.
No offense to anyone, but is $60 really THAT much? I'm 21 and in college but I'm working and still had enough to put out for the game. There's never really that big of a jump between games ESPECIALLY graphically, so I don't understand why people have been harping on that, but it's definitely worth the money if you can afford it.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Is rebounding finally better? What i mean by this is do players not miss easy rebounds because of awkward rebounding animations where they let the ball bounce off their arm or something? Do players still needlessly tip easy rebounds instead of grabbing them randomly? Is passing finally fixed? I could care less about flashy passes, that's just a gimmicky feature IMO. Do teammates still cut behind defenders as soon as you make a pass? Do players still throw terrible slow passes, or passes that should be easy right to a defender? Does the computer still react to passes they don't see and tip them without even looking? Do people still needlessly fumble passes on a regular basis? Is the AI better, are your teammates still idiots in my career? Etc.Comment

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
It's not about 60 bucks being too much, it's the principle of wasting money(but yeah there are some people that 60 bucks is a decent amount of money for, so what?). I can easily afford 2k14 but why would i pay for a game and give 2k money for a game if it's not worth it? That's just mindless. And being able to block shots adds a new dimension to the game? Dude, you could block shots EVERY year in 2k, and it was only in 2k13 where dunks were unblockable, now they're bringing back blocking dunks like it's a huge deal when it's been in the game for years now? I dunno, i'm not exactly sold, i need more details rather than people just saying "it feels better, it' smoother". That doesn't sell me on it.

The gameplay DOES feel smooth tho, it's the best word to describe it. Everything just feels right.
I have seen a few tipped boards, but that happens in every game so it's not fake.
If you aren't running plays, then of course you're gonna see tipped passes and steals, but I've been playing with plays on and I haven't seen that many steals unless I tried to get too fancy and sneak a pass in the paint.
Blocks HAVE been in previous games, but those were mostly animations, this year you can see your guy actually track the ball in the air and really go for it.
You can actually see who the good on-ball defenders are too, because you can really play good d and even if you get beat you have a couple guys that can block/alter shots.
Even if you're not playing with plays on the spacing is still pretty good, and you can especially see it when you call an iso.
I'm not one to hype up games but this from a pure-gameplay standpoint is the best ball ever. Presentation/graphics/gamemods, I can nitpick and say what can be improved but it's just current-gen and for what they did the game feels new, and worth a purchase.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

Re: Is 2k14 for Current Gen IMPROVED Enough to be a MUST BUY
Played 2 games NYK vs BKN, the patience by the cpu was real nice. The speed differential, the spacing, the responsiveness and fluidity. There are no magnets on defense. It's difficult to stay in front of some players. You can get burned. Deron was posting freelance style around the free throw line a few times. The CPU went after mismatches. You have to work to force turnovers. If you crowd theballhandler it will auto trap him sometimes. I don't get stuck into jumpers when I want to attack the rim although the contact layups seem to be too easy at times. Bad defenders seem to really stick out. This game has a ton of potential.
The bad I've seen...well as I pointed out defense is hard. Maybe I'm just terrible but I was pretty good at 13 and I was lockdown in 11.
I played SAS twice and both times Ginobli was chucking up garbage, posting up, and trying to bully his way to the basket. Something seemed off with his tendencies.
I still see some volleyball boards but not as bad. Also, I'm not sure I've seen elite ball handlers really separate themselves from average ones. It seems a tad easy to get in the paint if you get momentum.
Visually it's similar to 13 so if that's a big factor then maybe this isn't a good buy.
I love this game so far. I'm sure it will need risters/sliders but it's pretty decent out of the box IMO.Student of the game. #Fundamentals
