Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
I understand that completely, and I'm fine with not getting a rebound because someone else "fought harder" for it or because it took an odd bounce. I'm referring to players not being aware of the ball though. As in, I jump for the ball, reach in a completely opposite direction, and the ball falls right in front of me, or simply past me to another player.Comment

Simple....tone down the steal attempt success rate and call more reach in fouls for online games. Otherwise the game descends into a frantic mess because people are afraid to slow up their offense for fear of the ball getting knocked away. People are now realizing that they can mash the steal button all game long and the pros far outweigh the cons.
Its a bit ridiculous.Comment

i'm not really liking the on-ball defense. the ball handler is too "slippery" and even when you should cut him off and bump him, there is no contact...the physics behave as if the ball handler is a greased-up thanksgiving turkey - there is no friction. your defender just slides past the ball handler and he slips by you. it's similar to 2k12's "slip n slide" contact problem...it's not as bad as 2k12, but more in that direction.they improved the realism of contact on inside shots, but this year contact with the ball handler often does not follow the rules of physics.
i preferred 2k13's on-ball defense - in 2k13 the ball handler felt tangible and you could bump him when your player was in his way. don't get me wrong - you can sometimes bump the ball handler in 2k14, but at least 4-5 times a game i see a situation where i should've bumped him and stopped his progress but he defied physics and slipped to the hoop.
the ball handler can often just do an endless chain of dribble moves as he moves closer and closer to the basket - just nudging your defender back until he gets to the hoop...even though your defender was in his way and should've stopped his progress at some point along the way. i don't like how you can no longer make the ball handler pick up his dribble by cutting him off.
not sure why they went in this direction...did they decide it was too hard for newbs to drive by their man?
the controls when guarding on ball are also not very responsive. sometimes you'll press "left" to move left, but there is an obvious delay where your player will freeze for a bit before moving. this is especially noticeable when using intense D or trying to do the "fast shuffle"...it kind of defeats the purpose of the "fast" shuffle when it makes your player freeze before responding to your input. this type of delay and sluggish control on defense was not there in 2k13.
i really just wish we could have a game that was 100 percent based on real physics. no more of this bending the laws of physics to make certain things easier or harder....but if there were truly real, dynamic physics in this game, newbs would barely be able to move around the court without losing the the ball or getting stopped in their tracks...hence, i doubt we will ever get truly realistic/unforgiving physics, even if the technology exists to make it happen.Last edited by blues rocker; 10-13-2013, 11:54 PM.Comment

Why? Until you can precisely control your players movements and foot placement, there's no argument that can be made as to why you should "remove" the forcefield; have a slider to tone down the strength or reduce it's strength slightly via patch, yes, but remove the forcefield, no.Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

I disagree with removing it as well. I'd rather they allow adjustment of the force field strength and/or implement tip-toeing to stay in bounds animations/context sensitive footwork near the line.
You shouldn't go out of bounds just because you don't have fine movement control near the line.Last edited by Sundown; 10-14-2013, 12:30 AM.Comment

The more I play NBA FT14 the more pissed I get. Play perfect D just for the CPU to get a bail out call for some wack a$$ shot. It doesn't matter WHO's shooting..argh!!! Then there's REBOUNDING. either A cpu is out rebounding 3/4 of my players or B my teammates will watch the ball drop infront of them and wont touch it because it's covered in cow dung. Praying that these issues are addressed for next-gen cause its getting ridiculous."I'm so lonely....I paid a hobo to spoon with me"Comment

fix leaderboards... it's dumb that you could be on the top 100 when you've only played one or two games. there should be a minimum amount set. also I liked 2K13's leaderboards because there was a top 100 on offense and defense based on a combination of factors. there's no combo in 2k14 just per stat.Comment

Re: NBA 2k14 patch - post your suggestions for fixes
the only problem I have with this game is the broken plays and lack of momentum shots. those are currently being address in other forums though. I have no problem with the contested layups and shots going in as others have complained about. there are several options to help contain this. you can use sliders to effect jumpshot/layup defense, you can lower consistency, or you can just play solid defense. ofcourse regardless the offense has the advantage but on hof sim sliders, you can still hold the cpu to 40 something percent from the field. I do so for the most part. when trying to guard the cpu, be as close to the strong hand of the cpu on contested shots as possible.Comment

It would be great to see fouls called in the blacktop mode. I've only seen one foul called and that's because of that from behind reach in animation.Comment
