There has been SEVERAL instances where I've cut off a ball handler multiple times, but on the last bump animation, the contact came, my defender went into an animation, but the ballhandler was able to turn his contact animation into a layup animation. But my defender, who was in the correct position, was completely useless, and usually the ballhandler warped right through him.

Who was the ball handler? Who was the defender? Where were you on the court?

End of the day, Steve Blake can get into the correct position all he wants.....he ain't stoppin' D-Rose from getting to the cup. This is what help defense is for. Using capable defenders, I rarely see this happen.

Well there's your problem. I don't play quick matches. I only play in simulation leagues where everyone tries to emulate what we see each and every night in the NBA. But to your point, even if someone does try to "ram" into my defender recklessly.....if he bounces off and away from his intended destination or away from the hoop, you've done your job IMO. If he's bouncing off and barging into the paint, flatten him with your helpside defender.

Several factors contribute to defending other than just "being in position". And I totally disagree that attackers aren't punished for dribbling into traffic. In my OA, there are guys who would spam the paint over and over driving into the lane with no repercussion. This year, running into traffic at will, almost certainly gets the ball swiped, stolen, throws the dribbler off his line, etc. End of the day, staying in front of an elite ballhandler is and should be difficult. That's why having a rim protector and shading towards your help is important. You shouldn't just be able to sit there and keep CP3 in front of you, I dont care how good you think you are at perimeter defense.
Okay in layman's terms, If I beat the ball handler to a spot, I should not get "moved" by the game or if the game throws me into animation reflecting I've been in a collision in which should also apply to the other player I've collided with. I don't recall reading anyone saying playing defense should be easy, but it should be realistic and balanced. The forcefield offensive players have simply put the user controlled defender in a disadvantage.

I don't mind the cpu beating me off the dribble, but I mind if he runs through me even though I have a stronger defender on him, that's NOT realistic.

Curious. Is it mainly Pacers and Grizzlies users who feel that the real life defense of those two teams in particular are not accurately reflected in the game? Besides Paul George, Indiana is a pretty "non-athletic" team, and most athletic ratings seem to trump a lot of things ala Gerald Green.

Ball handler(s): Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, Mario Chalmers

              Defender: John Wall

Where: Top of the key, or anywhere in the midrange area.

Are you telling me that John Wall isn't quick or athletic enough to stay in front of the names above?

Grizzlies felt fine to me, but Indiana was kind of meh. Chicago is the best defensive team in this game.

Yeah I concur with this. Indiana should have great interior d which they don't in game.

It's not always about being 'quick'. Plenty of quick guys are bad defenders. Jamal Crawford is quick and couldn't defend my grandmother. Monta Ellis is quick. To be fair, Nash and Lin making a living out of dribbling past players and getting into the paint. You're not the only one .

Check out John Wall's perimeter defense rating. I'd bet it's not as high as you'd think.

I hate gambling and going for the steal, because of the delay and timing, so I hope that isn't the only effective way to stop this.

I also know I can play more help defense, but I don't want to leave shooters open.

Any tips for paint defense on the lead pass? Go for steal? Use RS only? Holt LT only?
Don't let him drive in, double team him or push him away with a great defender, try a bit of of ball defense at the start of the shot clock

                        blaza,

The game just need to equalize the contact animations the offense does by creating a repercussion for initiating contact not bailing out the offense by letting them either move me on defense or warp through me as if I am not there. Physics works both ways. If you run a bunch of , floppy's, single, double off screens, pick and rolls yeah you might not see it as much. However play a few people that like to iso a lot or force there way in the paint, shoot even the CPU is guilty of this. The ball handler should be tripping, stumbling going into a "riding" type animation much more.
