Re: NBA 2K14: My GM Interview, Hands-On Impressions, More! (Next-Gen)

Everytime i hear MyGM now I'm picturing a dude sitting in his office with camo cargo pants, a cardigan, and stars shaved in his head interviewing potential assistant coaches and scouts. I can't be the only one struggling with this!

On the flip-side, maybe i'll just create Donald Trump, fire everyone, and conversly head to "the park" with my next gen comb over flowing in the breeze...

?!? I'm just ready for the dang game to come out. Some of these features are still way too ambiguous and vague, even after a press event?!? Still confused if my mind is supposed to be blown yet, or not?!?

In real life you can only control one team. So that is as sim as it gets. This mode is what sim is all about. It brings life to the game. In my opinion it gives it a lot more replay ability. This is only the first year with it. We are just scratching the surface. I can't wait to see how they expand on this in the years to come. Don't say you are a sim gamer then complain you can't control all 30 teams. That isn't realistic. Besides I'm sure they will add the ability to control all 30 teams next year because they know that's what a lot of people want. It's a brand new game and a brand new mode. It takes time guys. As far as getting fired maybe they have an option to turn it off. We just don't know everything yet. Let's wait and see before we get all worked up.

Sheesh. People have asked for Association to get some love and finally when it gets some SERIOUS, SERIOUS love, they fly off the handle and assume the worst.

Sure, 2K hasn't talked about changes they've asked for. Yes, MyGM has story elements to it-- but it will likely make Association *more* popular, and if it becomes 2K's other main mode other than MyPlayer, it *will* draw attention to its bugs and flaws and it *will* receive attention under the hood. Hopefully.

Association guys got more love through MyGM than Crew this year.

Just think about that for a moment.

          After watching that video....

This right here is what Connected Careers should have been in madden...2k is doing this the right way it seems.

Just please for the love of god keep XP type stuff out of this Visual Concepts. But if you must at least make sure the premise makes sense and is realistic.

            1. GM hires the coach to make coaching decisions correct???...other then that why have a coach at all....And my point is let the gm handle the things you stated in your 2nd point instead of doing the job of every one on the staff.

He's right that GM's don't manage minutes though. They should have just called it MyAssociation, but they're really stuck on the MySomeone moniker, which I think is kind of corny really.

Well that is why I said he has SOME say so. Do you play MyPlayer? If so, was it that big of a deal that your player went to talk to the gm about playing time and the GM would say he'd talk to the coach? It's as close as they should push it.
In old association you handle rotations, player roles, minutes etc. basically as GM anyway so what is the problem now?

Even as MyAssociation it still has my in it so people would complain. I don't like the "My" agenda either but it is what it is. But as stated in my previous post, this is the position that is as close to what association already was.

This statement to me is false. People don't seem to be upset with the direction. People seem upset with the lack of freedom and customization in MyGM. If this were the same thing with the guarantee you could manage all 30 teams then this would be just gravy. If that is put in next year then this topic will be dropped.

It's the same thing with people who wanted Crews back but wanted 5 on 5.
The Buzz is Back in the Queen City. Cho........I have no idea what you are going to do in this draft man.

Nope I haven't played myplayer since 2k10, the problem now is that the player is sitting across a desk talking to a created GM so I cant pretend its realistic. Other then that your right it wouldn't be a big deal to me.

I think Eric thought this through and once your my player character enters MyGm mode, the option to age and change hair styles makes sense. The only reason I believe he kept the same character with that "awesome" hairdo in that video was to clarify that it will be your actual "myplayer" taking that GM position. Because if they are willing to keep the same exact "myplayer" Why not just Primetime aka Deion it. Where you Gm for the Lakers during the week and on the weekends take the court with your myplayer Clippers team. Maybe next year!...(fingers crossed)

I don't see how that would be possible if they want to be somewhat fair or shall i say realistic. As a new GM you should not have the same pull as say Jerry West or Mitch Kupcheck when it comes to luring free agents, possible coaches and negotiating trades. Especially since fiscal responsibility is also a major player in the mode.

The only thing we know so far as we're losing 30 team control. I get that it's important to some. We have no idea what freedom and customization there is or isn't aside from that. But I think there are reasons to be concerned. Still there's also reason to be hopeful as MyGM now becomes the only main mode in 2K outside of MyPlayer. It should become a higher priority and get real love.

This is nothing like getting MyCrew guys getting "Crews". Blacktop 2.0 with fatigue and leaderboards is not "MyCrew". The equivalent would be getting "Association" back as MyAssociation but it's really just the old Season mode with trade logic enabled.

This is more like MyPlayer guys getting a whole, new, enhanced experience and finding out a few things were taken away.

It'd be nice to be able to configure what type of GM you are and what stature you have, how likely/unlikely you are to get fired, or at least customize your organizational goals (preferably based on real life as default).

An "RPG" slant to difficulty level. Just like real life where Lakers play on easy mode.
