I don't think either situation is wrong if you will. There should be consequences for both, a sloppy ball handler and a guy who is constantly lunging for the ball.. I guess its a pick and choose depending on what is being done in a particular year but in most cases the offense was always the recipient of most of the outcomes.

But should the game require you to actively protect the ball as a dribbler? I could see that being really tedious as a user.

naw man...I don't even engage in calling people cheesers and all that...People should play the way they want and enjoy playing...My only complaint is about online gameplay in general...I don't have an issue with cheesers because that would be a wasted emotion...No game is cheese proof

I'm not the OP...This thread was not started by me...and No it wasn't one specific game...Its a culmination of what I'm normally seeing online..,Just so II'm clear there was no specific game...its not about cheesers...Its just after playing numerous online games I'm seeing some disturbing game play trends that are not representative of what you might expect from a game that is a simulation. This is not isolated to this year either...For a while 3pt shots were bad last year online along with online stability and connectivity. For the first week or two I can recall not even being able to play online because every game would disconnect...It was a global problem that many online gamers experienced. Its kinda like how people feel about Madden...same ish every year, right?...It gets old after a while and with all the improved tech and money we spend on these games I think its reasonable to want a simple simulation experience by simply picking up the game, inserting into tray and pushing play.

Does anyone here remember NFL2k5?...Great football game, right?...except for one fatal flaw...The QB Spy Glitch..***ined the game because there was no way to spy the QB. Hence you had Peyton manning running for 100yds a game and even when people weren't cheesing the mere fact that the QB can take off and it not be prevented was just a plain game killer. IMO the shot quality and 3pt shot effectiveness online with absolutely no respect for rhythm or flow is comparable to the QB Spy Glitch because even when people are trying not to cheese...Its there and can have an unintentional impact on the game whether we like it or not. I mean QB's do run so you can't be mad when a guy makes all his reads...then decides to tuck and be out. Its just an unfortunate thing that in 2K hoops this same problem has plagued online year after year...hell I remember the year people complained about not being able to make mid-range shots or jumpshots in general...So all games ended up with crazy amounts of points in the paint.

Last year after several patches they had online playing decent but it seems like every-time they tune the game something else goes wrong. If its not online stability and connectivity its the issue with the 3 ptr's or some other area that needs tweaking or overhauling like rebounding and players standing around like zombies not going after rebounds...Or standing out of bounds to receive a pass or attempting to save a ball they shouldn't even be going after...Some of the online stuff that happens just leaves you scratching your head.

I'm actually tolerant and easy to please...I just would like to see them fix it and have a playable decent online experience...The game has too many good qualities to let this one issue keep it on my table as a drink coaster. Cheers

People are going to use the simplest strategy they think will work. If that means jacking threes every possession with a player, or running around and iso-ing with Lebron every possessions that's what they're going to do. It's not cheese its just poor strategy. Combat their poor strategy with better strategy. Make them actually have to adjust and deviate from their normal gameplan.

Most people aren't going online to be Gregg Poppovich, expecting them to play "sim" is stupid. Even most of the guys who act like they play "sim" don't play sim. I probably played or watched over 100 online games last year and can count on one finger the number of people I saw trying to play real simulation NBA basketball. That guy beat the piss out of my roommate because he was able to call plays that exploited the offense and defense my roommate runs.

Be that guy, instead of the guy crying because a "cheeser" beat you.

You do realize that nobody is complaining about cheesers or style of play...The one and only complaint is about online gameplay..For the record...I don't care if someone cheeses all game and does a multitude of cheesy things...I aint mad at that dude at all...What I do take exception to though is the game rewarding that same cheesy play while making it difficult for a player to realistically play simulation. It does not make sense for simulation play to be affected or thwarted by non-sim tactics. .

As an example...Go online and try to play a half court game pounding it down to your C or PF...Chances are as soon as your big gets an interior pass he will be swarmed and swiped at an alarming rate...If it just happened once, twice or three times during the game I'd not have a problem with it but its so prevalent as a so-called sim player you have to go away from that. swiping mindlessly at a big should result in more instantaneous fouls not an EVENTUAL steal after endless attempts at spamming the swipe button. let my attempt to play sim ball live and let it stand up to the so-called cheeser... Then don't even ask me how this happens...a simple put back by a big is often harder than a contested 3 off of a 3 on 1 fastbreak. how does my 7 foot Center not make a easy bunnie under the hoop while some perimeter player dribbles mindlessly to a hot spot to SPLASH a 3??? This game forces you to abandon sim and fight fire with fire which isn't an appealing use of my precious time.

Another example for ya...and notice that none of these examples have anything to do with someone else being cheesy...You play great on ball D...You force a bad 3 pt shot...Its a miss...You click on to a player and box out for the rebound...You actually have better numbers under the hoop than your opponent...You expect to get the board, right?...hell naw...not in this game online...Somehow the one player from the other team gets the bound...Now repeat that scenario about 4 more times in one possession and lets say that happens more than once or twice a game. Thats AI...That has nothing to do with cheesing or your opponent IMO.
