What a shame, they lost some of my respect that's for sure. Microsoft will probably do the same thing with their console too.Comment

The same thing will happen for the Xbox One. I hope both consoles will come out with a patch this year and allow custom music.NBA: Spurs
NFL: Saints
MLB: TigersComment

So did XBOX One with their policies until people 'made noise'. The alternative of course, is to just complain to each other about it on these forums and do nothing.Comment

It gets worse. PS4 doesn't play CD's, and doesn't stream videos from network servers.
Basically any access to non-gaming content must come from a service, online, or through Sony's subscriptions (50 bucks on top of the 50 dollar online charge). With exception to Blu-rays, I'll assume.
Say what you will about Microsoft, but this is nearly as draconian.
Well played, Sony, well played.Comment

Neither will the Xbox One.
Thats why 2k removed the feature.Comment

It will only require a firmware update based on what I've read. It's not too late for them to change it, even if it's not changed by release. Hell, for the purposes of custom soundtracks in games, we have plenty of time. Not like even if they do change it now, 2K will add that feature... Same is probably the case for MLB the Show, a game which is particularly hard for me to play without that feature.Comment

It'll come in a later update. .mp3 is a plugin it can be applied. That's a small update. This is not a big deal imo
if sony doesn't do it, some hacker will..and sony will succumb to satisfy the consumer so the hackers will stopLast edited by yungflo; 10-30-2013, 03:47 PM.#dairyfreeComment

Except it's two weeks to release. Sony called attention to XBox One's 24-hour DRM and caused a ruckuss for Microsoft-- but hid their own bombshell until it was too late for anyone to do anything.
Well played, Sony, well played.
making noise is cancelling preorders. Which is what people won't do.
you can bitch all you want, but Corporations only respond to dollar signs.#dairyfreeComment

If so, it's a bad move on both companies parts. We already have multiple devices that play media, while they're trying to market theirs as all-in-one entertainment centers or at least XBox One is. What's an entertainment system that doesn't play your own media and is less capable than it's predecessor?
Compared to what people already have, this will just make the devices known for what they can't do.Comment
