I like to use the Cavs, but lately I've just been takjng a break from them and just making good matchups (so if someone takes Clippers, I might take Pacers or another teampretty close to the Clips)

Question about using plays that 'always' work.

For example, there are two plays in 2k12 that I know of where the shooter will come off a screen and the defender will NEVER get through, leaving a wide open 3 pointer in the corner 100% of the time.

Now for y'all who will say, "switch off ball and manually cover", I hear ya and I cannot successfully defend this using that tactic as with 2ks crappy off-ball controls, you end up getting stuck on some other player not even setting the pick.

So here is my question after that backdrop, is it "legit", "sim" or whatever you want to call it, if you run this play 3 out of every 4 times down the court? Especially when the person has it set for every one of his players minus the C spot.

I don't know the play name, just the description above.

I call them money plays, i think it's cheese and a few so called SIM players that i play with will always change there plays. I feel that if it's not in the teams playbook then you don't need to use it. I have my plays set to run automatically, but if a play gets ran to often i manually change or improvise.

In real life Basketball if it works the team will milk it until they get stopped, but this is NBA 2K12 and nothing is easy to stop without some cheese tactics. For example some players will let the CPU guard the paint because you almost always will get forced into an animation or get blocked without a foul.

For most people SIM is what you make it??

How do you counter the zone + spam steal exploit? Like they will bum rush the ball handler pressing x and when I try to pass the defender automatically goes into the deflection animation

Just got to watch those passes. Zone is pretty easy to beat but can be unforgiving with careless passing. I had 18 steals in a game on account of dude carelessly throwing the ball everywhere. I've heard a lot of people have gone zone to help prevent the easy paint dishes off the weak pick and rolls people run repeatedly. Ball movement, get someone out of position, open shot / pump and drive etc

Pushing the ball helps, too, as it obviously helps to beat them down before they can set up.

Hit triangle to protect the ball. It will increase their chance of foul plus allow you to spin out away from where they are going.

Use your passing to setup teammates and guide them to the 3 ball areas. Make sure you have guys that can hit the shot.
