    Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)

Played a quarter of basketball, Cavs (me) vs Heat. First thing I noticed before I started as I was going through the rosters was that LeBron still had a 99 dunk. Since you said not to use sliders, I knew I'd be able to dunk too easily with him, and sure enough, I was right.

Anyways, the actual game. I was impressed by Wade's aggressiveness in attacking the basket but still stretching the D with pull up Js (he made two 3s in the first quarter-- I'll let it slide), but there were few shooting fouls called (I was 1/2, Heat 0/0), and we both finished with 12 and 16 points in the paint respectively.

Jermaine O'Neal could have shot more jumpers (all but one of his four FGs were in the paint), but that's fine, not a biggie. Wade did take 11 shots though, but I'll say that it was my fault for not bringing good enough help defense.

Overall, I like. Sliders are absolutely necessary though.

    Off to play Phoenix. Deuces.

Very few actual ratings have been edited thus far, Im doing tendencies and coach profiles right now. Dunks/Layups/Speed/Handle and such havent been changed yet

Once i edit the on-ball steals tendency, the fouls should jump up.

You just reminded me that i need to edit Jermaine O'Neal and a few other shooting bigs and Guards Post Shot to 90/10 Roll Shot instead of Hookshot (i hate that).

That's not what I meant-- I meant more fouls should have been called on layups

i think the plan is to get everything set, THEN possibly play with the sliders. I like the idea of making a scaled roster that sims stats well, and then tune it to play correctly with sliders afterwards.

NEON - hey just wanted to say thanks for the good work. haven't actually tested out your rosters yet, but i already know they are the best ones available. not knocking anyone else, but i checked out a few and highly disagreed with alot of tendencies, let alone ratings. anyways, i was undertaking the exact project you are doing and actually started a couple weeks before you did. been following this thread since your first post, and you are already waaaaay past me. then again you seem to have quite a bit more time than i do. i was also using excel to convert stats into ratings and tendencies. very hard and confusing, but easy as heck once you set your scales for everything. so on behalf of everyone else who has been just reading and not posting, thanks bro. way to take one for the team lol

Also, more thoughts I forgot to add:

I saw something I had never seen before. I attempted an entry pass to Shaq, and Wade jumped in front and deflected it. Very nice, and make sure you get all players to do that to some degree, not just high steals guys.

I also thought maybe Wade was a little too happy with the three ball. He would size me up (which is good) and then pull from three when I played back defensively, worried about the drive. I know Wade's not exactly shy with off-the-dribble threes, but I thought maybe he was a little too willing.

                Re: Neon1 2k10 (360)

My game felt like I was actually playing against the Magic. I was the Celtics and I won 94-90. Scoring in the paint was way too easy. Also, players were attempting too many dunks. I have no problem with Dwight Howard dunking it on Kevin Garnett, but when Marcin Gortat posterizes the hell out of Kevin Garnett and sends him into the camera man, I have a little bit of a problem.

I thought the game was going to be too easy on pro, but it was actually pretty challenging. I was down by 11 going into the 4th quarter and I came back to win it.

Also, Wade didn't use too many screens. IRL, he uses screens out the wazoo.

If you backed up off Wade why wouldn't he take the jumper? Its not like he can't knock down uncontested 3's. Same for VC. The guy has no conscience and if you give him room he will take a shot. Put a good defender on them and don't back up too far. You will see plenty of drives if you take away their jump shot.

In my game I was talking about VC driving and pulling up too many times. I know he has used the pull-up jump shot before, but it felt a little artificial how many times he pulled up for a tough, contested shot.

As many a frustrated Magic fan, theres about a 100,000 of them that would agree with this (watching the real VC) lol

I feel you but sometimes, a player of that caliber can put more pressure on your entire team by driving and dishing, or getting fouled.. good things happen when you get into the lane.
coaches will accept a superstar like wade beating them from the perimiter, its the latter that drives a coach crazy. ( and player )
sometimes players have off games, and i wouldnt want said players to be AS WILLING to shoot the long 2 or contested 3.
                          in theory or whatever.

and about fouls on layups, i'm not sure if its complete but i think neon is editing the 'hard foul' tendency.. which mixed with testing the shot foul rule for your style of play you will see more definitive shooting fouls called, and some where the player doesnt even get the shot up without a defender getting at least a finger on it, lol or whatever.

haha. The Magic have been on national TV a lot lately (I live up in the ATL), and I noticed that VC is starting to look more comfortable playing with the Magic. He's not as tense as he was earlier in the year.

Yeah i know he would be more effective IF he did try to get into the lane and not settle, but he has not played that way. All he has been doing is throwing up deep threes (in bulk) or forcing up fadeaway pullups instead of looking to get inside.

I get the tendencies from their real life shot locations (NBA Hotspots via NBA.com). The purpose of that was to mimic where they have actually been shooting from, not where id perfer them to shoot from.

I totally get your point, just im basing shot tendency from what players actually are doing.
