You can create profiles with specific byte ranges that can be decoded automatically using different numeric types for each byte range.

Check it out, make sure to contact me if you have any questions.
But isn't this for the pc? Do you think that it still should work the same way?

It's a hex editor, it's not meant to be specific to the files of any platform. All files are binary files, all files can be hex-edited, all files are compatible with my tool then. When people hex edit X360 rosters, they do it on the PC right?

I really hope it helps you guys, I sincerely do.

another thing I noticed was there is no lettering on the right panel of info in the hex editor..... here's my point if there is no lettering how do we change things like arena names (Knick's arena ---> MSG) things like that??

It also froze most of my process will doing it. I would like to see this tool just "exit" on a error that way it doesn't hurt me computer.

If you know how to use this then by all means go ahead and get your go-go on. I myself just can't load a file for nothing. The error was 100% my fault though. Just warning whoever doesn't know how to use it like me.
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. Let me clear a few things up:
                1) This version was made and released after 10 straight hours of programming just today. Didn't have much time to test it out, so there's bound to be a lot of issues. I just want to get something out to get initial feedback.
                2) If you're willing to be patient with me and keep in touch, I hope I can squash all the bugs and add all the features you'd like to see. You might not know me from Operation Sports, but I created no less than 6 tools during NBA 2K12's lifespan, and I'm starting early on 2K13, this being my 3rd tool since the game came out.

If you want to help me help you, PM me and I can share contact info. Skype, MSN, FB, whatever suits you so that we can work through this problem.

I say this because I see you get a lot of recognition from OS members, and you seem to know what you're doing.

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?

Yes, i'm a college senior (getting my bachelor's in IT next summer), as Marvin asked. Still, there are many people, who suppose me to be 17-18 on surface, although i'm turning 21 in January )))

And, yes, seanbarkley, thanks for the pic. Really like it! =) Nasty thing.

Anyway, as stated earlier, i'm out of major discussions, but will setup a special blog some time soon. Await more news coming up next weekend. I got the general file format discovered soon before recording the video. Just to mention. So you really shouldn't worry about editing inabilities (even if the file seems uneditable from your point of view; it seemed the same crypted and uneditable on my first looks at it as well, but don't forget the crazy Neo skillz which are supposed to make the editing process for YOU, basketball fans, all plain and simple in several months).
Just wanna&gonna keep everything systematic to get a top-quality REDitor as a result (probably by Christmas). So, no small tools from me to edit jersey colors, etc. (although, jersey colors are obviously quite easy to be found).

Take care, Enjoy the game, Await more news!

Hey Vlad, don't wanna be a bother.. but would it be possible to get some sort of tutorial on how to find the team colors? 2k13 is unplayable for me until the team colors are correct. That's all I really need to hold me over until your awesome Reditor of awesomeness releases. I know you're busy with school and figuring out the PC version but, if you could do this it would make the entire forum jump for joy. lol

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?

As far as Hex on Steroids goes...

DO NOT use Whole File and a small "values" setting with big files, or it could take from minutes to hours to load. There's a world of difference between loading a 4MB file with the values setting at 10 and at 500.

In general, "Whole File" as a setting should be used with constraint. This tool is mostly supposed to help you after you've done some research, have narrowed some ranges down that you want to take an easier look at, or find out which areas of the file have values that make sense.

So, either use "Whole File" with a large "values" setting, or limit the byte range you load each time via the "Custom" setting in the Profiles editor.

Vlad or Chrome, have one of you found the game sliders for MyCareer? I'm a spot up shooter and I'm missing wide open shots. I know the sliders have to be set at 50 or something.

Hok have you made any head way with hex editing the settings files? You said after learning the checksum you would try again.

I'm 75% sure I found all the teams and how to change colors and everything but there is still a problem with the rehash and resigning. I get a corrupted or damaged file everytime. Once I can get it to work I'll put out team ID's and a little of a guide to do it... but file keeps getting corrupted no matter what program I use

That's because of the checksums on the file. You need to use chrome's roster resigner. Give it a try using that.
