Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
As far as Hex on Steroids goes...
DO NOT use Whole File and a small "values" setting with big files, or it could take from minutes to hours to load. There's a world of difference between loading a 4MB file with the values setting at 10 and at 500.
In general, "Whole File" as a setting should be used with constraint. This tool is mostly supposed to help you after you've done some research, have narrowed some ranges down that you want to take an easier look at, or find out which areas of the file have values that make sense.
So, either use "Whole File" with a large "values" setting, or limit the byte range you load each time via the "Custom" setting in the Profiles editor.
No, havent going to leave that to this weekend . I well let everyone one know if works and post link."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
That's because of the checksums on the file. You need to use chrome's roster resigner. Give it a try using that.

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
Maybe your hex editing something you are not suppose to thus creating the crash when the file is being read by the game. I would try to edit like 2bytes something in a random players data . Then use the tool and see if the file loads if it does then you can proceed to try and do mass edits.
