Is this the beginning of something BIG?
There should be no strangers to the Cincy story at this point. Everyone knows that the school snagged four of the top four high school prospects. Mick Cronin initially stated that it would be someone difficult to get all four of the guys on the floor with their All-American 2 guard Monte Westbrook but things have officially changed. Mick Cronin has stated that he plans to start Pre Season All American Monte Westbrook at point guard, defensive specialist Darryl Jones at SG, number one high school prospect Elan Baylor at SF, Jacoby Ross at PF and David Davenport at center. Cronin feels that these are his five most talented players (obviously) and that he wants them on the court at the same time. While Westbrook has never played point guard, he is the player with the most experience and spent the majority of last year with the ball in his hands. Cronin and the Bearcats will have the opportunity to try out their new lineup against another Pre-season All American Lamond Kane and the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Rainbow Warriors are shining bright early
When you think about Hawaii, basketball isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. Sophomore Makakoa Akana and freshman Jase Lavisai are trying to change that and are doing a very good job so far. The Rainbow Warriors are 5 and 0 and are destroying the competition so far. Akana and Lavisai are averaging 33 points between the two of them and the teams average margin of victory is 17 points. While Hawaii has not gone up against any top competition, their near flawless play makes me feel that the rest of the nation should take notice. “We know that the competition will get better as the year goes along” Akana said when asked about the teams surprising start. “But we have a chemistry that we feel like no other team in the country has”. Hopefully the guys can continue to play this well for the remainder of the season.
