See that's what I bee talking about! I've watched and played alot of basketball over the years. Alot of guys just don't get that much better...everybody can't be Kobe, KG, Duncan...we gotta make some Darko's, Ridnours, Taj Gibson types of the world to keep it realistic...you can always play that MY Team nonsense if you want allstars everywhere. I just don't understand the fun in that...

I know none of you that comment in the thread feel this way but I still feel it needs to be posted here. Someone messaged me in regards to the draft classes. The overall premise of his message was "I'm picking high in the draft and some of my players aren't even getting better. These classes suck".

I think we all need to be reminded that a high draft pick guarantees you nothing but an opportunity. In the REAL world, players get drafted and stink it up. To be honest, it happens more often than people realize. You know why??? Because it's easy to forget those scrubs. What we are doing here is trying our best to create a REALISTIC draft scenario and realistically everything will not go the way everyone thinks that it will. As a matter of fact I want you guys to look at this players numbers over his first seven years in the league.

Year 1 - 5.5 points, 5.4 rebounds
Year 2 - 3.0 points, 3.0 rebounds
Year 3 - 5.2 points, 3.5 rebounds
Year 4 - 3.7 points, 2.6 rebounds
Year 5 - 4.9 points, 5.0 rebounds
Year 6 - 3.7 points, 2.7 rebounds
Year 7 - 4.7 points, 5.3 rebounds

Who is this you ask? Duke Forward Shelden Williams drafted in 2006. Wanna guess where he went? Number 5 OVERALL. I got another one for you......

Year 1 - 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds
Year 2 - 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds
Year 3 - 2.4 points, 1.0 rebounds

You are looking at the numbers for Adam Morrison. Anybody remember where he was drafted..... overall number 3 pick in the same draft.

Guess what.... there are tons of Adams and Sheldens in the world. If you don't like having drafts with Sheldens and Adams, you're better off just using one of those drafts where the top ten players all end up with Hall of Fame ratings. If you wanna roll with the realistic ballers though, embrace the scrubs and take joy in avoiding them. Just my two cents.

anybody that is a basketball purist and watches and knows basketball would not send you that message. The gut obviously has no knowledge of what the process and the grind is all about for an organization. Don't lose no sleep over this idiot, everybody in this thread knows the purpose of your work and how it meshes with a smart mind. There are numerous first round busts every single year which is what makes scouting and the draft worth it when you get your prized possession.

P.S. Taj Gibson is a beast! Ridnour is what early -mid 30s and is stil
more reliable than some starting PGs. I'll add Kirk Hinrich to that list.

And my favorite of all guys like this Priggie Smalls. NYK are screwed without him

personally, myself I wouldn't jump on Bennett quite yet. That locker room is a disaster in terms on experience and leadership. I do agree as a far as a first overall he is probably not going to be a franchise player, but I still believe he can average in between 15-18 and 7-8 boards. That is just my opinion.

Absolutely agree. I was just trying to find something recent enough that this person could relate to. I'm still a fan of Bennett and I'd like to see him go places. But I don't think Cleveland is where it'll happen. I'm seeing a little bit of a Thomas Robinson situation going on over the next couple years

yeah I can definitely see the Thomas Robinson comparison situationally. Where I see the biggest diference is that Bennett is very versatile on the offensive with his ability to pick and pop, pick and roll, post up, catch and shoot all well just not at an elite level. Robinson mainly uses his athleticism to get to his sweet spots or try to power through defenders with no real skill level. Some real bad busts in my mind include Greg oden, darko, Julian Wright, Jan vesley, Jonny Flynn, the Adam Morrison one was dreadful some people were killing him the next Larry bird, how bout desagan diop, tyrus Thomas is a bum, Sean may, Rashad mccants

Haha yeah my bad. A little caught up in the moment there. This is the one place I really get to talk basketball. The few friends I have that are the sporty type are too into rugby. The rest watch the NBA as opposed to live it like I try to.

Lanier went to the bulls for you too?! Damn I hate that combo. Especially if they have Jimmy Butler at that point. I had a 7 game series with that bulls squad in an earlier association and it was the same thing every game. You have to give D Rose the attention so Lanier or Butler would light up every time!
