Just to let you all know, I've been going at it night and day for 2 days straight now and I'm close to having things finalized for the association file. With the recent player movement of first time players playing in the nba being signed over the last few weeks I've been working on putting them into the set and getting them close to life like as I possibly can.

Real quickly guys, for those of you who are hardcore association mode users, I want to have a feel for what the preference is as far as player roles are? Do you want me to make an association file that has player roles on or off? Or I could just make two seperate files for those who want them on and those who want them off. Let me know.

Eaglerock, as a super hardcore association dude who is patiently waiting for your file, I honestly defer to you. I say just do whatever you think produces the most realistic experience, rotations, free agency, etc. I don't know what all parameters playor roles affect, but I trust your decision.

Well I bring it up because it's been an issue for as long as I have known since I've owned my 360 (since NBA 2K11) that player roles have never been fixed by 2K or even looked at. Certain players even though their player role might have an increased role with their team still are unhappy with the situation so it's always been a concern for me. Plus I've seen many other members on here continue to complain about the unrealistic issues it causes so thats why I bring it up. I have always had them kept on because me personally with my knowledge of the NBA being at a high level I've always been able to pretty much put each player into their right role, but thats just me and my preference, plus I wouldn't mind seeing how playing with them off would effect my association experience.

Like you, I've always played with them on and I like to think I understand and know the NBA pretty well. That said, however you want to try things I'll be happy. Your association file work is second to none.

Off, they never end up working well, guys gut frustrated way too easily when they're in their real life role.

That's what I was thinking. I think I'll set it up with them off so that nobody has to deal with the issues that comes up with them being on. I'm just about done with the roster file itself that, just looking into and experimenting with changing up some teams accessories with their jerseys. Every jersey that has been uploaded by 2k for this current season will be available so you'll have a wide variety to chose from. I might spend an hour or two going through the Euro league teams just to make sure that all the players vitals (ht, wt, dob) for their bios are correct. I noticed that some were very inaccurate including their draft status. For the players who have NBA experience previously I had their career year by year stats added to their bios as well. I only included Euro league players that have been drafted by NBA teams in previous years, but have yet to make the jump over to the free agency list (trying it keep it as accurate as possible).

I was hoping to get revenge in their home court, but it wasn't meant to be. Durant hit a shot to tie the game and go to overtime. I had 6 sec. left in overtime to hit a shot but Kobe missed and we lost. Final score 119-121.

Well I should have all this wrapped up and ready by the end of the weekend. I decided to get rid of all the CAP generic players on the classic teams and hide them and added CAPs of players that were actually on each team. Only ones I couldn't find was Walt Hazzard, Rick Carlisle, Orlando Wooldridge. Tried looking on 2kshare and couldn't find any.

I just finished putting the roster file set together. Everything looks pretty good I must say. Now I've created the association file that I will be using for the template. It should not take me very long to input all the necessary things needed for an accurate, realistic association file (most of the work was done during the roster file itself). All I need to do is edit the staff tab and remove all the generic staff members and add current staff members and those who will be in the free agent pool.

I don't want to set a timeline, but I am aiming to get this all inputted and finalized by the end of the night at the earliest, tomorrow morning at the latest.

Wow, this is looking like an epic file, pretty much a perfect association. Do you think there's anyway that a 30-team file could be released, or is one already planned?

It is a 30-team user controlled file already. If anyone wants a single team file I wouldn't have no problem creating one for them and sending it to them, but once again this year I think a 30 team user controlled association is the only way to get the most realistic simulation out of the game.
