Re: Playmakers NBA 2K10 Pro Level Sliders

I had traded this game in awhile back, but won a drawing for the anniversary edition at a local a store yesterday, the one with the locker and poster etc. I traded it in because I was steamrolling the CPU on superstar and hall of fame difficulties. So I looked at these and i was like yeah, pro, I'm sure. But I told myself I'd try every set and hope that one of them provided a challenge. I didn't see it coming, but yours were great.

I played as the Magic and took on the hawks (random teams I don't use much). I won the game 97-91. It was a very tight game, I went up by 7 to start the game so I figured it'd be a wash as usual. But they came back and took a 12 point lead. I went up by 3 at the half, and we kept going back and forth all game. I took a 12 point lead with a couple minutes left and held on for the win.

Here are the stats to help you make any adjustments. The only thing I changed was the stamina being at 45. Matt Barnes had already lost 1 notch of stamina 15 seconds after the tip off and within 2 minutes everyone had a gatorade cup near their name. So I moved that. Other than that I kept everything as is and had a wonderful game. Thank you so much. My only big complaint is that for whatever reason my defense was so out of position all the time it wasn't even funny. My point guard kept trying to guard their center. Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford kept getting wide open not by great plays, but because my guys were double teaming random people. I tried to go in and change a bunch of settings but they still acted like goons. I'm not sure if that was a fluke or it's because of the 'pro' difficulty. Very frustrating.

    Anyway, the stats

Re: Playmakers NBA 2K10 Pro Level Sliders

Great sliders as always Playmakers. I just threw this back in after a few months, the playoffs got me excited. So far I've only played two games in my association but they were great fun.

As the Suns I lost the first at home to the Timberwolves by 6. I was trailing by over 20 at one point but managed to peg them back, only to slip up at the end. My shooting was horrific in the first half and I just couldn't gain the ascendency again.

Then away at Boston I managed to win by 12. This game was the opposite. I blew them away in the first half shooting 64%. Nash and Barbosa were just eating it up from long range. Then the Celtics came back to draw within 5 with a couple of minutes to go. I managed to keep possession and hang on.

I'm not sure whether its just me getting better at shot releases or your sliders but my mid range game feels far more realistic now. I can actually hit open jumpers with some regularity. Also I love that points in the paint are somewhat tougher on these settings. Those were may major pet peeves with this game on default settings so now I'm a happy camper. I'm sure I'll be able to play it on and off right up until 2K11.

Thanks again Playmakers. Your sliders always seem to gel with me for some reason.

I haven't seen you post in awhile......

Good to hear that the sliders were helpful for you again. I think it has a lot to do with our playing style. I try to play the game based on each players actual tendencies in real life and I utilize the no switch rule as much as possible in all my sports games.

And of course by now you know I always try to find a value system in sliders that gives the CPU a fighting chance vs the Human player.

Take care....see you around in NCAA Football 11

Re: Playmakers NBA 2K10 Pro Level Sliders

It's tough to find a good balance as far as wanting a realistic game and the feeling that u might actually lose. I find that too often when I turn up the skill or adjust the sliders in the CPU's advantage I end up just doing the same handful of moves over and over. I may win a tight game but I'll end up with guys like Ben Wallace and Jason Maxiell with 30 points each. Plus I'm afraid to take any shots outside of what I know is high percentage. I may only take 5 threes a game or less.

I'm gonna try these sliders out and see how it goes. I like to use the easier skill level with tweaked sliders so I can make it more realistic and use some midrange shots without feeling like I'm costing myself the game. I can make a few mistakes and still have a good chance to win. If it's too easy to dink around and still win, I'll have to take it up a notch.

I've been in an association I started months ago with the goal of playing all 82 for the first time ever, I'm stalled at around 30 games and have been playing College Hoops 2k8 again lol. Plus any day now I'll probly switch to MLB 2k10 (finally) but there's a chance if these sliders play well enough I may actually get my team passed the all star break for once, haha.

Weird results so far. It's only halftime but after trailing by 14 after the 1st quarter I came all the way back to take a 7 point lead at the half. Was outscored 34-20 in the 1st and outscored them 30-9 in the 2nd. Really crazy seeing them light me up for 34 and then only come back with 9 in the second. Only using 9 min quarters. I'm shooting 62% at the half to their 53%. I'm 16/22 from the free throw line vs their 8/9. Only 9 total rebounds compared to their 17...

Forgot to mention that I'm Detroit and playing against Chicago. Second half very similar to the first, outscored 30-18 in the 3rd to trail 73-68 going into the 4th. Once again the tides turned and I was able to outscore the Bulls 25-12 to win by a final of 93-85.

Definitely enjoyed the game, there was a clear element of possibly losing, but I shot wayyyyyy too many free throws.

33 team fouls by Chicago resulted in 56 free throw attempts by Detroit, and the game was AT Chicago. Aside from the free throw disparity it seemed pretty good. I will continue to use these sliders for a bit before trying any personal tweaks. The free throws may have been a random occurrence.

Remember Dallas in game 6 vs San Antonio scored only 8 points in the 1st qtr of that game.

They ended up erasing a 21 point Spurs lead by the 3rd qtr in that same game

So, I wouldn't call it weird because NBA teams and players can get hot and cold during stretches of games.

One thing I will say about Pro Level in NBA 2K10 I never felt cheated when switching to this level. It's not by all means perfect on this level and you do have to give the CPU a boost up but I find the level to be very playable and fair most of the time.

I stopped tweaking the sliders a long time ago because i felt as a base set these were solid enough......of course there will be flaws remaining but not enough to drive me crazy and make major changes from the base settings.

You just have to observe the sliders for about 3-5 games and then adjust accordingly based on what's happening in your games.

Yeah I hear that. I just wish there was a slider to adjust the player movement, I know it's been brought up all over the 2K forums but they really seem to have over tweaked the movement aspect.

In the game does the Hands slider really only affect the ability to deflect passes like it says on the menu? I'm having so many turnovers where my good ballhandlers pass to an open player and the ball flies through his hands, or simply bounces off his body. I just had a play where I passed to a player 5 feet from me, it went through his hands but he was able to pick it up, he passed to a player 10 feet away on the 3pt line and it went through his hands, too. After the scramble my PG came away with the ball and threw it under the hoop to my wide open center and the ball went through his hands and right out of bounds lol.

It works on both offense and defense.....

It helps players to deflect passes but it also forces offensive players to lose the ball at times.

If you see too many passes are going through players hands then you should increase the slider up just a little like 5-10 clicks
