    Re: The Purist(s) NBA 2K11 Sliders (Post-Patch)

The reason why I put dunks in traffic @ 50 is because how many times do you see someone miss a dunk in the NBA? Once every five games, maybe.

The reach-ins are mostly to off-set the high steal success and stealing sliders, plus throw in a few non-shooting fouls so that hopefully we can reach that 20+ team fouls number w/out 20 shooting fouls.

Too many O-Boards is a good thing!! Lol.

I'm off on another tracking project to hopefully fine tune shooting by location.

One thing for everyone to keep in mind is that coach profiles, offensive playcalling and player tendencies HEAVILY influence the game. So the universal sliders (the ones I'm tuning) are basically a suggestion. But if they player likes shooting threes or driving to hoop, four out of five times he will do just that. It's a strength of the game. Uniqueness amongst players and teams.

Silly newbie question here: Where is the player speed slider? I don't see that one. Thanks.

greenieblue, do you think with this sliders our gameplay and the way we play count for win or loose a game or you think it's something who was decide by cpu at the start of the game ?

I'd like to have your opinion about this ...

I'd like to have your opinion about this ...

I think all sports video games have rubber-band AI. Which means that the computer will only play within a range slightly above or below your skill level. This is most evident in racing games, where, no matter how bad you play, you will almost always be in a position to catch the leader. IMO, it has to be this way or 75% of the people who bought the game would return it, come here and trash it. People do no want to buy a video game and lose all the time.

However, I don't think that NBA 2K11 "decides" who will win and lose before the game. I think that is more about the millions of variables in the game (ratings, tendencies, sliders, coaches, fouls, etc.). When you watch a 17-8 CPU team get beat handily by a 9-18 CPU team often, it's hard to imagine why it would be "scripted" that way. I think 2K11 (despite it's many flaws) is a simulation, meaning that you take probabilities/ratings/statistics/tendencies and throw them into the "wild" and let them bang it out.

The reason why I decided to turn off Clutch Factor is, while I think it is maybe just a statistical modifier-- nothing wrong with that, if I'm going to sit here and tune like crazy to achieve certain results, why would I want to voluntarily throw in a monkey wrench? Plus there are already too many statistical modifiers in the game (see above). And it comforts me to have it off.

So no, I don't think the outcome is predetermined. Not at all.

              Re: The Purist(s) NBA 2K11 Sliders (Post-Patch)

People have been clamoring since the invention of sports video games to have one where each team, each player performs differently. I have watched so many games in NBA 2K11 and, I can tell you, each player has a different style of play. Some will just jack horrible jumpers all game, some will take smart shots, some will pass first, some will drive to hoop, etc. This is also true of the teams in this game. It's really amazing. My fictional league has players/teams with deep, well-developed on-court personalities.

IMO, this has never happened before in a video game. It is one of the many areas 2K11 shines. And, perhaps, its crown achievement.

Honestly, or obviously maybe, it hasn't always been fun immersing myself in this game to the extent that I have. But, where it has been really cool, is that I think I can fully appreciate the incredible depth of this game. It really is something to behold.

Just Ask this question for have your opinion cause since the game is out I see weird things ...

When you play in default sliders and simulation for example, sometimes, you win by ten or fifteen point , and I have the impression that the cpu say "STOP I lose by too much" and at this moment you can do EVERYTHING you want, really everything...you can't put a ****ing basket ! until the cpu retake the lead or equalize the score.

                    It's frustrating as possible !

Since i've see that I search the perfect sliders who broke this routine and this BIG black point of this game, but every set i've test (until yours) I find this default, your set has the only who broke this thing.

The little insert who announe 15-3 , 17-8 ...in some minutes, appears a lot of time in defaut and only one or two times with the purist set.

Guys, just went and bought the game about a half an hour ago. Never played an NBA basketball game, ever. Just wondering if the sliders on the first page are for the user, CPU, or both. Thanks! Looking forward to starting my Wolves franchise, and I am not sure why!!

I have a few little things I'd like to straighten out, then I will post them as Final.
