    Re: offensive rebounds

Just played a game w/ these sliders:

    Off Reb: 100
    Def Reb: 0
    Hands: 0
    Def Awr: 50
    Hustle: 100
    Vertical: 50
Each team had 16 Off Reb. I think hustle is the key.

      Re: offensive rebounds

As far as I've seen, the problem with offensive rebounding is positioning. Sliders can't really change that.

Could be wrong. I make a habit of it.

with hustle at 100, were you still seeing fastbreak opportunities? Also whats your theory on hands at 0?

          I agree with this...

What I have noticed post-patch is that players now jump for rebounds differently. Before the patch they would leap TOWARD the rim... But now they only jump straight up in the air, often times never leaving their feet until VERY LATE after the shot hits the rim. It's as if the game was dummied-down a bit in the artificial intelligence of how players reaction time to their jump should be.

There is nothing, in my opinion, that sliders can do to fix this problem.

If you start messing with the sliders too much then you break the game in other areas. I've stated this in my own slider thread, but I really don't like what the patch has done to this game. I never play online, so I'm strongly thinking about clearing my cache and going to pre-patch because the game seemed a bit more fluid...

            Yeah, I'm with ya, MK.

I'm keeping the patch only because I do appreciate the toning down of backcourt body-ups and the few franchise fixes that stuck (MLE's, Qualifying Offers).

Other than that, the game was better pre-patch.

I'll try this. Even if there are no fastbreak opportunities, it's not like there were in the first place anyway.

I wonder if you did that because it would lead to more missed shots and recoveries (offensive rebounds) by the same player around the rim? Way to get banned during an important conversation... HAHA jk.

Well I tried it with vert. at 50 and hustle at 100 today. Russell Westbrook jumped like 3 feet in the air in an attempt to deflect a lob pass to the paint. LOL. I had 8 off rebounds CPU had 5. I'm thinking about editing my players rebounding ratings (if you can even do that in association mode). Will definitely try more games and post results.

off rebounding is a matter of timing position and skills. No need to adjust anything leaving sliders at default. I grab more than 10 rebounds. So let the flow of the game come over you.

                        Re: offensive rebounds

You can up rebounds as Sheva stated by your play. Take a pick and roll and other shots when a man is under or breaking to the basket. The problem is that almost all plays move team-mates away from the paint. Slider and other stats are needed for the CPU and Human to not have to force bad shots with teammates in position.

In real life yeah, I don't how many times I shot the ball and D12 don't attempt to get the Off rebound.

This is a problem with the game itself. There are too many great Off rebounders that will stand around and not attempt Off rebounds when they are in position.

It is worst when I play online.

                            Re: offensive rebounds

                            Ok....weighing in on this.

Last night I think it was Orlando. They had 4! Count them 4 OR's in their game last night.

                            The Heat had 8!

                            One team had 17!

It is so all over the board.

Point is it is not as flawed (I refuse to use the word broken with this game) as people think. Yeah maybe the players stand around and in that regard it seems that is a code issue. But the stats I am getting are so close and extremely realistic to the NBA. Some nights I am pulling down 12-13 OR, some nights 8. Some nights 5. But it is not consistently bad. I find the box out to be great since the patch and rebounding seems better to me with guys not jumping 5 feet over the rim.

Now I know I have not seen more than 15 by any team i have played against. And I do know teams sometimes grab 17-18 in a game. But it is not a game killer and I have seen people just flipping about it.

                            Come on now.

I think it is being over analyzed IMO.

Play the game and enjoy it!

                              Can't be done in 2k11.

I'm not worried about it. I just hope they fix it in 2k12.

                                Re: offensive rebounds

I was playing around and I turned hustle down to 0, turned Putback Attempts to 100, OFF Reb to 100 and Def Reb to 0 and I started seeing more consistent attempts at offensive rebounds. I haven't played enough games yet to see if the numbers add up to what I'm seeing but guys definitely go after them more and the overpowered block out isn't as omnipresent.
